This was an awesome spot in Strasbourg for a 7-person dinner. The salads were a hit at our table as were the potato pancakes and tartines. The sauerkraut was a crowd favorite as well. The menu was seasonal and ingredients tasted fresh and local. Lots of vegetarian and pescatarian-friendly options. We had a fantastic server who recommended us three desserts (chocolate mousse, apple tart, and plum tart).

The ambiance at Lohkäs was great and the food even better. The menu was expansive with fish and meats with authentic Alsatian foods. We made a reservation for 7 but had to wait 20 minutes until we could be seated. This was made up by the fast service and great views outdoors. Would eat here again!

We wanted traditional Alsacien food and this restaurant did not disappoint. The interior was like we were in an old German cottage with wooden beams, quaint alcoves, and German cuckoo clock. We ordered the escargot, Strasbourg saucisson, and Choucroute. It was the perfect blend of German and French influences. The food was amazing! The escargot was served out of their shells in a rich, parsley, butter, and garlic sauce. The Choucroute was a mound of choice Mets: Strasbourg saucisson, Knackwurst, Brisket, and Jambon. All piled high in a bed of the most delicious sauerkraut. It was perfection! Sorry only two pictures. We were all busy devouring our meals!

I'm totally confused on why they are not Michelin rated . For all the silly reviews with low star…read moreratings , come on , there is a McDonald's down the street and that's where you belong. This restaurant is now going to be haunting me in my dreams it was that good . First off, the onion tart is crack. The perfect crust with fluffy eggs and onions and bacon. I would say generally I'm not the biggest fan of quiches, but the onion tart is a must. Then we had the white asparagus special with a soft boiled egg and lentils with the most flavorful dressing ever. I was with my two daughters and wife and we split the onion tart and asparagus special as an appetizer, and literally a fight almost broke out among us. Then we split the steak, pork filet and potato pancakes. Just absolutely delicious. My older daughter does not like salad and she actually couldn't believe she liked the side salad that came with her steak. Not the lame iceberg bagged salad mix you get it some restaurants. This was frise, endive and radicchio in a vinaigrette that was spot on. Best french fries ever as a side on the pork fillet. Incredible home fries as the side on the steak. I wish I would've taken photos to post, but the dishes were getting destroyed as soon as they came out. We had the rhubarb pie as a dessert and Panna cotta. We are coming back tomorrow for lunch and getting the asparagus and tart again. It was that good.

My husband had choucroute garnie and I had chicken with Munster sauce, a very interesting dish. The house wine and cremant were wonderful. We can't say enough about this homey restaurant if a person is looking for nontouristy, local food and vibes.

When you're in Germany and life hands you a week of 12-14 hour days planning an event that then…read moregets canceled at the last-minute, you take yourself to Strasbourg. And when your walking tour guide tells you a fun story about a Michelin-starred restaurant and it's interesting name, you decide to take yourself there. I haven't been to a Michelin-starred restaurant in a very long time and I have never been to one alone, but it was still a lovely experience. The staff was very attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. The food was inventive and enjoyable, though I admit I had a hard time understanding the waitstaff sometimes, so I wasn't always sure what I was eating, but luckily I'm willing to eat anything. I had the discovery menu (appetizer, fish, entree, dessert), 3-course wine pairing, coffee, and the restaurant's "extras" which included some very tasty amuse bouche at the beginning, small desserts with the coffee, and even a cookie to take a home. I did not order from the cheese cart, but it was fun to watch it wheeled out for others. For a Michelin restaurant, I found it very reasonably priced and accessible, though I'm not sure I can say I was completely blown away by the food (wine was fantastic, though). But I did see the crocodile! Which is where the restaurant gets it's name: in the 1800s a sailor came back from Egypt with a stuffed crocodile and had the bright idea to use it as a marketing (who wouldn't want to see a stuffed crocodile?!?)

Such a beautiful restaurant! Amazingly friendly service! And of course delicious food!…read more We were in town for the Christmas market, so it was fun to take a break from being outside and eating mostly from food vendors. We came in for lunch and went with the market menu they were offering. We also ended up adding a cheese course, because when in France! Can't say no to cheese! I don't know if it's the primacy effect, but I loved the first course. It was like a little egg soup dish. So warm and hearty, it was just comforting. Everything else was good too, but the cheese was a major highlight for me. The waiter selected a sampling of cheeses for us from a huge cheese cart. It was fun to watch and see all the cheeses on display.
