This is a meat lovers paradise. Come here for pork, duck, chicken, beef....maybe the occasional trout. I wouldn't order seafood at an inland restaurant so far from anywhere. Paris gets the best seafood from the Atlantic coast. The place lives up to the hype both good and bad. Come on a busy day and service can be gruff. Come on a Sunday evening when the crowds have returned to Paris or Frankfurt and you will be rewarded. I did just that. The place was half empty inside, but still bustling outside. There is an upstairs as well to accommodate larger groups. The menu has the Pri Fixe meals and also al carte. There are daily specials on the blackboard near the entrance. The wine selections is good and there are plenty of wine choices from the immediate region. Meat portions are large...order accordingly. I ordered the set meal choosing a foi gras terrine as a starter and pork cheeks as my main dish. The foi gras was decent...but not any different than most which can be obtained almost anywhere in the region. On the other hand, the pork cheeks were amazing, and served in their own cast-iron ware with mushroom gravy and a huge side of mashed potatoes. The gravy was delicious and not salty at all. The cheeks were tender and so delicious. A small basket of dark bread was complimentary. I skipped dessert just because the meal was very hearty already. Overall, service was great, attentive, friendly. I had made a reservation ahead of time, just in case, but they were also accepting walk-ins. It's s nice place overall with really good food. I'll definitely try again when I'm in the area.

Lovely find. Fantastic food so close to our hotel. Great, nice staff. Fantastic escargot and foie gras and ... of course ... the wine list :)

We had the unfortunate experience of dining at this busy restaurant close to the cathedral in Strasbourg. I chose the seafood dish from the daily chef's specials menu. This turned out to be a sad looking plate of almost cold rubbery scallops and prawns on a pastry similar to cheap frozen pizza base. The other dish of lamb also from the chefs specials menu appeared to be slightly more appetising. Service was abrupt, one waitress misinformed us that there was no WIFI available. This is the type of place I try to avoid disappointing meals by shortlisting restaurants to dine at on trips, it is unfortunate I did not have time to research this city!

No service, no food. 2 houtrs waiting for non existent food is a waste of time and life. I cannot reinforce how insulting this place was.

And when your walking tour guide tells you a fun story about a Michelin-starred restaurant and it's interesting name, you decide to take yourself there. I haven't been to a Michelin-starred restaurant in a very long time and I have never been to one alone, but it was still a lovely experience. The staff was very attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. The food was inventive and enjoyable, though I admit I had a hard time understanding the waitstaff sometimes, so I wasn't always sure what I was eating, but luckily I'm willing to eat anything. I had the discovery menu (appetizer, fish, entree, dessert), 3-course wine pairing, coffee, and the restaurant's "extras" which included some very tasty amuse bouche at the beginning, small desserts with the coffee, and even a cookie to take a home. I did not order from the cheese cart, but it was fun to watch it wheeled out for others. For a Michelin restaurant, I found it very reasonably priced and accessible, though I'm not sure I can say I was completely blown away by the food (wine was fantastic, though). But I did see the crocodile! Which is where the restaurant gets it's name: in the 1800s a sailor came back from Egypt with a stuffed crocodile and had the bright idea to use it as a marketing (who wouldn't want to see a stuffed crocodile?!?)

Such a beautiful restaurant! Amazingly friendly service! And of course delicious food!…read more We were in town for the Christmas market, so it was fun to take a break from being outside and eating mostly from food vendors. We came in for lunch and went with the market menu they were offering. We also ended up adding a cheese course, because when in France! Can't say no to cheese! I don't know if it's the primacy effect, but I loved the first course. It was like a little egg soup dish. So warm and hearty, it was just comforting. Everything else was good too, but the cheese was a major highlight for me. The waiter selected a sampling of cheeses for us from a huge cheese cart. It was fun to watch and see all the cheeses on display.
