Blairgowrie is a lovely place and this is an awesome place to stay. Just a 10 minute walk to the town centre and the great pubs on offer, you feel very remote but with the bonus of having great amenities such a short walk away. There's also a big Coop and Tesco if you forget anything. Lodges are all self catering with extensive facilities. Owners are very friendly and will help you out if you want to go on a nice walk or see some lovely scenery. The only downside is there's no wifi available in the lodges. If they had this it would be awesome as mobile coverage is patchy.

However, the hotel itself is not as special The food is not that amazing, but it's quite expensive. The manager can often make guests feel uncomfortable as she is often on the edge because of stress. Do not expect to be mollycuddled! I would rather recommend people to spend the evening here, or to have a break from the walks drinking something in the afternoon, but not more.

The booking went easy enough. I called them and we got a room for 3-4 people. The price being around the £150 mark. You can also book online although I think its cheaper if you call. The interior of it's public places and rooms are a bit outdated, but if this is not a turn off for you, the hotel is comfy and convenient enough to stay in. There were a few families and groups. The main reception does not appear to be manned all night, but in all honesty Pitlochry is not the place to party until the early hours. The night porter was really friendly, stopping and telling us ghost stories. Check out the third floor. Supposedly it is haunted! The bar closed around 11, but considering the amount of people in the lounge and bar area, they decided to reopen the bar. Good for us. You get the typical drinks. Beer, wine, whisky, gin tonic and so on. They don't serve many craft beers. Our place was a suite outside the hotel in a separate Victorian house. One double bedroom and one twin. Large bathroom. Again, outdated, but for 1 or 2 nights ok. You will also be able to enjoy the pool, sauna and spa, adjoining the hotel. We decided to dine somewhere else, as the reviews were not great. Having said this, the breakfast was not bad. We got the choice between Scottish or continental breaksfast and other items from the breakfast menu. I chose porched eggs on toast. Sadly, no taste and not even the toast bread could make up for it. Other fellow travelers were satisfied with their breakfast choices. The staff was friendly enough throughout the stay. Would I go back there? Yes I would.

It was advertised as free wifi throughout the hotel but we found we could only get it in the hallway by the door in our room. Not ideal but not awful. The leisure facilities were great with a pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room. It was nice to come back from a day of sight seeing and have a soak and a schwitz. There is a "restaurant" on site but I'd say it is more of a dining room. Unless it is included I wouldn't worry about eating there. It's not bad but it's not great if you catch my drift. For a Crerar hotel I was a bit disappointed if I'm honest but I will bring those things up with the hotel. Free parking on site as well as two bars.

The room was very comfortable with more than enough space to accommodate my mobility scooter and the bathroom with roll in shower was also very roomy with all the accessories I required. The standard of cleanliness was impeccable. The Management and staff making us feel very welcome from the instant we arrived, coming out to advise us the best way to park the car, so that access to and from the car for myself and also for my scooter was not compromised. Actually Chetan parked the car for me. He also ensured that the space for my car was always available when we returned from whatever trip we had been on. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We had our evening meal, in the restaurant, on the first night. My friend and I have different dietary requirements and the staff were so knowledgeable about their menu that they were able to advise us what we could eat. The meal was great. Breakfast each morning was also adapted for our requirements. As already stated nothing was too much trouble for the staff. All accommodations for Covid restrictions are applied, so felt we were safe staying there. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The hotel is only a 5 min walk from the town centre, however, it is a steep hill so a car would be required for anyone with mobility issues. Amisha & Chetan definitely know how to make you feel welcome and feel that you will certainly return for another visit. I definitely will be going back.

I have very mixed feelings about this hotel so first I'll start with what I liked…read more - The exterior of the hotel is gorgeous - It's situated right behind a pasture of Hairy Coos, which as adorable and really add to the Scottish feel - Every night when we'd come back from adventures there was a fire burning in the fireplace in the entrance - The staff was attentive and friendly - The room was quite nice, and the bathroom well, let's just say I once had a studio apartment that was smaller than the bathroom. - The interior has the feel of a great Scottish lodge, and that you're visiting the family there because you're good friends. It had animal heads hanging on the wall, paintings of what seemed like late owners or relatives on the walls - I honestly felt like I had just stepped back into the Victorian era. - The atrium once you walk up the stairs onto the landing is gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. And now for what I didn't like. - While the staff was attentive and friendly, I almost found that they were TOO attentive - like I couldn't just explore the public rooms because someone was always popping up to see if I needed something, which I suppose some people like, I'm just not one of them. It always felt like even though I was allowed to be in that room that I was trespassing. - The heat in this hotel during the summer is on full blast, which again is great when you're coming in after a rainy day of exploring, but on the sunny days when the temperature peaked around 78ºF, coming back to a room that was stifling hot because the radiator and towel warmer are both on full blast was less than cosy. We turned them both off and opened the window daring to risk the midges, because we could barely breath in the room, but every time we left, someone came in behind us and turned the radiator and the towel warmer back on and closed the window. It was like they wanted us to die of heat exhaustion. - And lastly... the food. Oh, I wanted to like their food. I really did. We picked this hotel, because they had such a high ranked restaurant on site and because it was our anniversary while we were staying there - so we had planned to eat both nights here. But I can honestly say I have never had blander food in my entire life. Everything tasted like they had removed any savory or salty component from the food. The bread tasted like my own saliva, because it had no taste (I will say it was better toasted in the morning for breakfast - so I'll give them that). I rarely, if ever, add salt or pepper to foods I get at restaurants - so it's not like I'm a salt-loving-fiend or anything. I watch a lot of food network, and I always wondered how a chef could under-salt something, because it was never something I had experienced in person... well now I have - and it was mediocre at best. The only thing that was not under seasoned was the lemon sorbet I ordered for desert. Hubs and I kept switching plates and breads with each other trying to find something that had been seasoned properly, but we couldn't. So, between the bland food and the completely silent dining room we decided to have dinner the next night in town, because for what we paid for dinner - I would expect some really amazingly delicious food, and that is not what we got. What we got needed all the salt on the table and even then it was still bland - I had to salt the bread. I honest to god had to salt the bread to make it taste like something other than saliva. I would honestly have to rank it in the top ten worst meals of my life. - The morning that we were leaving, the friendly, attentive staff was no where to be found. We needed help with our luggage downstairs, but after 30 minutes of waiting for someone to be found, we just lugged it down ourselves. I would not go out of my way to return to Kinloch, but if I was in the area I might stay there again, but I would definitely eat somewhere else and bring a fan.
