I explained my home project of redoing butcher block countertop. Tyler was very patient and he pointed to the exact products I would need for project. They really take it from utilitarian to upscale. With that being said the prices have also increased. The inside is beautifully arranged and is a real treat to look at and source inspiration. The first room houses many varieties and sizes of houseplants and unique ways and products to grew them. The two greenhouses are more for flats, seasonal plants, and bushes. They also sell plant arrangements ready made if you're not confident enough to arrange yourself. Additionally they have a good variety of outdoor plants and bushes, supplies, pots and tools. Pricing is more than going to your local garden center but you're paying for aesthetics, although all of their plants did look healthy. Since they were closing and I didn't purchase anything so I can't vouch for customer service. I'd return for the inspiration and if I needed an unusual plant, but will probably stick to my regular garden shop for better priced basics.

Thomas Tree Farm is a good choice for finding an affordable choose-and-cut Christmas tree. As of…read morethe yesterday (the day after Thanksgiving), the tallest trees there were only about 6 feet, but you get the pick of the entire farm. Basically, they hand you a saw and cart, and they might guide you to where you might find a specific type of tree (we passed Fraser Fir, Douglas Fir, Blue Spruce, and White Pine). All trees, regardless of size or type, are $40, including tax. Traveling to the tree farm was a good adventure, but we probably won't go again, mainly because I think we'll be able to find at least the same quality trees closer to DC. If you're close, though, it's a good place to get a tree.

We drive up from Parkville, and it takes us longer to get there( about 45 mins.) than it does to hike to the White Pine area . They always let you glean /clean up the left behind branches from trees not cut to ground level. And, the tree is cut up for mulch/flower bed cover until April, when it is put thru our chipper....and the lower trunk is saved to be burned on the next Christmas Eve... Looking forward to our ride up and the picking out of a GREAT tree....
