As it was lunch time and the outside of the restaurant looked cool we stopped in. What a great decision. I had the cheeseburger and my wife had the Caesar's salad with chicken. The portions were very big and the fries were thin, freshly cut and delicious. The locals are very lucky to have this place in their communit.

Cutest little country kitchen i've ever been to. Tucked away just outside the east entrance of Yellowstone is a tiny little town of Silver Gate and this lovely little Log Cabin Cafe . My wife and I mistakenly drove 45 minutes or so in the wrong direction , left the park thinking we would loop back to yellowstone lake and back down to the Grand Tetons.... turned into a happy accident because we had a great breakfast at the log cabin cafe. Very small menu but everything is scratch made with love. The thick cut house made hash browns are the best ever, the waitress said they soak the potatoes in a brine and you can taste the love!!. My wife ordered the french toast and it was excellent! This tiny little spot is literally a log cabin and has some nice taxidermy and all the country charm you could ask for. Location is incredible, surrounded by majestic mountain scenery. If you are visiting lamar valley to check out the Bison , do yourself a favor and get lost like we did and go to silver gate for breakfast or lunch!! Our server was a very sweet young lady who was very pleasant. Loved your restaurant , Thank you !!

A decent place to start your day in the Yellowstone NP! They are a family owned business and have been around for a long time. It was really lovely choosing to eat here - the interior of the place will take you back ages as its fully made of wooden logs with bears staring down at you while you eat :D We had hot brewed coffee (with unlimited refills), the French toast served with fresh fruit (which was of right portion and very good) and the blueberry pancakes (which were really big portions and would ideally be enough for 2 people). While we were dining, we were also entertained by the owner in some interesting trivia facts about Silver Gate and Soda Butte creek etc. Would highly recommend this place if you are visiting Yellowstone! (tip: they are a few minutes away from Cooke City, MT which has a nice espresso place)

French toast and pancakes both amazing! Daily fresh squeezed orange juice

Cutest little cafe ever!! Loved my french toast, thick cut bacon was delicious!! A lovely little cabin nestled in the mountains just outside Yellowstone national park. If a picture is worth 1000 words then I'm sure you'll get a sense of the place. Highly recommended !! Thank you!

Great food, great service, great little breakfast restaurant in Silver Gate Montana, at the North East entrance to Yellowstone. We drove all the way over from Gardiner.

Delicious breakfast but a little pricey at $72 for two people.

On a weeklong road trip and this is the only place we purposely stopped for breakfast. We stayed next door at the Grizzly Lodge and another guest there told us about it. We visited on July 5th. Service was outstanding. Our male server (whose sister was the cook). made sure to tell us the kitchen was a little behind because there were a few large table ahead of us and they were short-staffed. It might have taken 20 minutes for our order to come out, but we didn't mind because the ambiance was relaxing and area appropriate! I had to get the pancakes from a 80+ year old recipe and my husband had to get the trout special with hashbrowns. We both made excellent choices!! Those were some of the best pancakes and hashbrowns I've ever tasted! All employees that we saw (4) were young and very efficient, friendly, and professional!

Beartooth Cafe. Cooke City, MT. Late June, 2026. My husband and I were traveling from Red Lodge,…read moreMT to Yellowstone National Park (northeast entrance). Unfortunately, the Beartooth Pass was closed between Red Lodge and Cooke City because of snow and high winds -- so we took the longer route that included the Chief Joseph Highway and yet still encountered some snow and sleet on the high elevation Colter Pass. Upon reaching Cooke City, we were ready to treat ourselves with some hot beverages and a piece of dessert. We stumbled upon the Beartooth Cafe. Upon entering, we informed the hostess that we were interested in hot beverages and a dessert and she apologized that they offered only "plain coffee", not the specialty coffees of a restaurant down the street. Perfect, we didn't need a fancy roast. My husband ordered a hot coffee ($3.75), while I ordered hot tea ($3.75). We split a slice of Amish Apple Pie ($11.75). The pie was delicious, and tasted home-made. My husband's coffee was good, and I was offered a tray with tea options. However, by the time taxes and tip were added, we felt that $25 was just too much for two plain (non-specialty) beverages and a split dessert (even in a touristy area with a limited season). Our server was friendly, but we weren't offered refills of the coffee and/or tea until after we had already asked for our check and were ready to depart. The ambiance was Montana rustic. Free parking was directly in front of the restaurant.
