Really cute, rustic restaurant, but the food was just ok, if not somewhat overpriced. What bothered me most was they charged $3 for a glass of tap water in a hard plastic cup with no ice even though one of us in our party of two ordered a beverage (beer) with dinner. We didn't realize they charged for water until we received the bill. Also, we asked for a to go box for leftovers, but was told they weren't providing them due to Covid-19. That seemed very odd because some restaurants in the area were only doing take-out due to Covid and other restaurants we did dine in had no problem with providing boxes for leftovers. The waitress was very sweet, but very overworked as she was the only server for the entire restaurant. As such, no fault of hers, but the wait for service and food was long. read more

This is a cute little cafe in a small town right before the northeast entrance of Yellowstone. Everything here is homemade and delicious and a good bargain! Each entree comes with a side and the entrees range from $10-$15. We ordered them properly steak sandwich, the grilled chicken burrito, and tomato basil soup. All to die for. We had dinner here, and it was very good. I had a salad with grilled marinated chicken -- the lettuce was mixed leafy greens, cabbage, good cherry tomatoes, and mini carrots, with a nice garlic balsamic on the side. Healthiest food I've had in a week! My husband had a good cheeseburger with a good-looking bun, and tortilla chips. And a piece of old-fashioned blueberry pie. One of the best spots to eat outside the East exit of Yellowstone. First time we stopped here was just for coffee and ended up getting a slice of blueberry pie... AMAZING. We were so impressed we decided to go back for lunch the following day. Had the burrito with chicken very tasty and cheap. Tomato basil soup was delicious as well. For dessert we had pumpkin bread. This was our favorite meal of our 3 week cross country trip! We wanted to order everything off the menu. We stopped for dinner after leaving Yellowstone National Park, what a mistake. I'll say the good things first, reason for which I would give it 2 starts instead of 1. The beef was good and we asked if we could drink our own wine and they said yes. Now, the bad things: The serve worst trout I have ever had in my life, It had no flavor at all, it was served very cold and it had a funny texture. The service was also questionable. One of the waitress was nice the other one not really. She kept forgetting things, the ordered was not served properly (missing items), the veggies were over cooked. The house salad was letters with dressing, when we came in we saw the salads with tomatoes and other veggies, maybe they just run out and only had letters by the time they served us.... For one of the person I. Our party, they gave a tiny butter knife instead of a steak knife, we asked her if she could change it and she was upset and said the knives had not arrived yet in a bad manner. And to be honest, is fine if they don't have steak knifes but she could have told us when the food arrived in a proper manner. We don't know if she was upset because we called her many times. But we kept on calling her because she had forgotten things, like silverware for one of us, my potato, the sour cream that came with everyone's potatoes, which by the one she only brought it for one of us, and the homemade baked rolls never arrived. We should be the ones getting upset. Luckily there was the other girl who was nice. We do not recommend this place! read more

I've been here several times, but only for breakfast. My wife and I have never been disappointed in our meals. The bacon they serve is local and absolutely delicious! They have some nice options for breakfast and very good coffee. Wait staff is always friendly and attentive. As I said, I can only comment on their breakfast menu, and we always stop here at least once while staying in Yellowstone. read more

Nice lunch stop before entering Yellowstone. Interestingly, all the staff were summer hires from other countries (I peeked in the kitchen). On that note, the kitchen was clean, the food was prepared almost fancily. I wanted a Bison Burger but they were out - had an elk one and it tasted fine, not great. Wife's meal was good too, but the hummus that came as a side was very skimpy. It's expensive food, as most places around here are, but the ingredients were fresh and local. Cute place too. read more

I had no idea what I was getting into when I walked in. We just needed a lunch after a long morning in Yellowstone and I wasn't sure there was anything else. This place was wonderful. The food was generous and savory and fresh and delicious. I loved it. I had the trout wrap and it was incredible. I like sauce and the sauce was generously applied. If you don't like sauces or condiments like mayo or sour cream, tell them to go easy. It was perfect for me. It was just fabulous. Love it. Would go back any time. Best food of my trip, from Texas up to the Dakotas, through Glacier and down to Yellowstone and across the Bear Tooth Bypass. Got lucky and found this place. Do yourself a favor and try it. This is just a great place. the atmosphere is fantastic. Do yourself a favor and wake up early and walk to the cafe before sun-up. The food is outstanding and the staff is wonderful. A breakfast here will not leave you hungry. This is the perfect place to fatten up prior to going out into the park for the day or perhaps up into the Beartooth Mountains. You won't regret the stop. Best breakfast you can get. I spent a morning talking to a wild eyed but very entertaining hippie guy who was telling me one story after another about idiots getting attacked by the fauna of the park. Incredible stories but all very true. Like the guy who wanted a picture of his son with the Grizzly cub in the back of a dump truck of garbage. Grizzly cub was OK with it. Momma Grizzly, who'd been nearby - wasn't. Poor SOB didn't stand a chance but the kid was left entirely alone by the Momma. Momma knew who was being the idiot apparently. We ate there for dinner yesterday evening. The log cabin was adorable! Our waitress from Ghana was so sweet and was very helpful. Those are the reasons for three stars instead of two. My husband had a burger. A $15 burger should be excellent, not just passable. I had the salad with marinated chicken. The salad cost $10 and the added chicken was $9. The salad part was fresh (no complaints there) but the $9 for the added chicken was a joke. What I thought was a lot of chicken turned out to be about a quarter of a half breast. The rest was a pile of croutons. That truly was a ripoff. I would not recommend this restaurant because of this, sad to say. read more

Diamond in the rough. Great place in a secluded area, on the edge of the eastern side of Yellowstone National Park. Despite the secluded location, they had menu items such a salmon, trout, and other healthy items plus a decent range of more standard fare. We went for lunch and if it was possible to get a refund, I would. 1- no one greeted us at entrance for 5 minutes, should have left then 2- one waiter who was overwhelmed, unorganized, and clearly inexperienced 3- wrong food given to several patrons- food taken off their table and given to other people 4- waiter and cook touched our food without gloves 5- handwritten bill was incorrect 6- waiter did not give us change then asked why we were still there.... This was one of the worst meals I've had in years. There were flies everywhere in the restaurant. The salad was old and wilted and there was a bug in it. The roasted vegetables were inedible. They had asparagus that looked like a brown stick and vegetables that looked like they been cut days ago. The report from our friends was that the steak was good and tender although missing the asparagus it was supposed to have on it (and that omission surely improved the quality of the steak)The trout was simply prepared with many many bones but tasty. The rolls looked and tasted like small hamburger buns. We had a wonderful attentive French server who deserved a better place to work. I attempted to stay here after I read great reviews on Airbnb. The bathrooms were unsanitary: leaky shower, soaked carpet, and stench from the bathroom could be smelled in the cabin. The acting manager, Aislee, agreed that the bathrooms were exceptionally unkept, but the permanent manager, Laurie, was out of town for a few days. We cancelled our reservation and found somewhere else to stay. I contacted Laurie the Monday following our vacation and she took 3 days to respond, refusing to fully refund me, as she typically has happy clients. This is now in Airbnb's discretion as to if I will be getting a refund. If you have problems, Laurie will not respond in a timely fashion. She is continuing to drag her feet on this and has yet to respond to my follow-up emails. It's been 3 weeks. Note: It's a risky place to make a reservation, as if you come across it unsanitary, she will NOT refund your money. read more

In Silvergate, MT, not too many dining options. Stayed here July 2015. I loved this old building from the '30's. Food was decent with very large portions. Service was interesting. Unfortunately, we ended up with extensive waiting, waiting long for almost everything, from getting the menu, placing order, getting entree, getting check, finally, waiting for the waiter to take our credit card.... Overall, we spent less than 10 min finishing the entree (we got very hungry after the long wait), and 50 min on waiting. During the long wait, multiple flies joined us... Been here about 5 times mostly for breakfast. July 2013,2014. The trout dinner is good. First time here was probably the best breakfast ive ever had. The following years it was ok but not to the standard of my first visit. It was close but not like the first. Coffee here is excellent! The bacon the first year 2013 was GREAT, but they must have changed brands cause it wasnt the same the following year. Best bacon ive had actually. Wanted to take my wife here in 2014 for dinner and when we got there they ran out of propane so they closed early! Bummer dude. Anyway we went to the miners saloon down the street. The trout dinner was good but think I got shorted on the veggies, only got a few and were overcooked a little, plus the owner was visiting with friends and I kinda was a late arrival so cant really fault this place for that. Ill always stop here when passing through though it cant be beat and the atmosphere is really nice, log cabin style. We were on vacation in Yellowstone and were looking for a good place to eat outside the park. We thought this place would be good because of the great reviews but we were really disappointed. The piece pumpkin bread we ordered had a long hair in it and when we asked if we could order oatmeal for breakfast instead, our waiter said that wouldn't be right because the kitchen was already heating up another piece of pumpkin bread to replace the one with the hair in it. Things like this can happen but the service was over all very poor. We waited a half hour for a piece of bread and got no refills on water or coffee but yet we were the only people in the place. I politely waited for a refill but after 20 minutes I asked our waiter if I could have a refill, and as he poured more coffee into my cup, I saw a hair hanging off the coffee pot!! read more

I loved this place. I was in a group of 4 and we ate dinner here for 3 nights in a row. The staff are running like crazy all the time to try and attend to everyone, and they might be slow at times, but their friendly attitude more than makes up for it. They have a group of young African men working the kitchen who come there each summer to earn money for college, and they turn out some very tasty dishes. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere friendly, and just a happy place to unwind at the end of a long day of photography. I will go back every chance I get. read more
