We brought down 2 totes that contained picnic items and towels for picnic on the beach and it was fine. I wouldn't say the trails were hard outside of the fact that it is on a hill. It would be tricky on folks who have issues with their knees or ankles though, and there are areas one could fall easily if you don't watch your step. There's a large play area that would entertain kiddos for several hours and several large fields! I was surprised they had public access to the seminary, which includes restaurants/bars and artwork. I loved the art pieces, they even have some George Tsutakawa pieces which was a nice treat! The bar downstairs has a beautiful corner seating area that has a nice mural painted on it, though I did not partake in drinking/eating. The library is also open to the public I believe 2-5p weekdays, but if you're staying here, it's open with your FOB. I had a very nice experience, it's a good way to spend a summer day. There are 2 areas for discover pass parking, but also a pay-to-park machine as well.

There are paved paths and clear routes to trails and the beach. We ended up walking them down to the river, which had a lovely sandy beach, which was such a surprise! There were benches and tables down there, which I am sure are very coveted in the summer season. For a nice fall day, this was the perfect spot! I would love to come back here with some takeout and enjoy a lovely meal on the river. Very dog friendly, great views, and awesome amenities (water fountain, showers, trails, easy signage, bathroom). What more could you want!

The park is perfectly placed and laid out for events. Lot's of seating in the sun and shade, trail access, decent mix of shade cover and open sunny areas, plus it feels really safe. The trail that extends through this park is one of my faves. It is wide, flat, and gorgeous. I usually walk from here to where the Hollywood Hills wineries are, then back. Perfect flat walk for people with strollers, dogs, etc. The parking is limited- only about 15 spots. The baseball fields across the street aren't much better. I usually try to find parking at Woodin Creek or, if I have to, pay for the Schoolhouse District parking. A magical oasis in the middle of our sweet suburb!

The playground is great for kids aged 4-14. My little daredevil gave me a heart-stopping moment on the spinning climber, but thankfully she managed to hold on and avoid scraping her knee. Her sisters were beaming with joy, making it a fun-filled afternoon for all! A heads up: parking might fill up quickly, so plan accordingly. We actually took the local bus, which worked out great, so there's a convenient public transportation option available. The park borders the Sammamish River trail and offers a lovely view of Lake Sammamish from the walking trails. I recommend bringing a blanket or camping chairs - there's plenty of grassy space around the play area.

Kayu Kayu Ac Park is a nice small park located in Richmond Beach along the shoreline of Puget…read moreSound, yet set back from the water a little ways with a railroad track between the park and the Puget Sound. I have come here a few times to just check it out, or if walking around sunset time and wanting to watch the sun set beyond the Olympic Mountains across the Puget Sound. There are a handful of parking spots and a small restroom building, neither of which I have used yet in my coming here. Oddly, this neighborhood park has been around for a number of years, but was one neither me nor my parents were too aware of despite living in the area for over 20 years. Nice to have a place like this to come to and clear one's head, watch the sunset or a train going past, just play around, or sit down and do some work or read at one of the tables.

With covid and little else to do a picnic seemed like a great way to spend a summer evening and…read moresocial distance. I had my partner search out a park for us and he discovered this hidden gem. It's tucked away in Richmond Beach on the waterfront, and even though I am in Richmond Beach a fair amount, including a bar not too far from here, I had no idea this existed. You can not access the water as train tracks and a fence keep you inside the park. It's a small place with little parking, but an actual bathroom on site, a playground, black berry picking and gorgeous views. It seems to be a nightly walking place for many residents in the neighborhood and a hang out spot for local teenagers. In the actual lot there are only 5 spots (1 handicap), but it appears people are able to park up on the hill above the park and walk in. The play ground looks like a nice reason to visit, but it currently has some yellow tape on it for covid. Dining seems to continue to bring in visitors as there are a few picnic tables and we witnessed multiple people stop by with take out. It's very nice to be able to watch the ferries go by, including some big ships and if you are lucky a train or two. I think this would be an enjoyable place for anyone who likes to gaze out over the water. I plan to go back some day when cruise ships return and see if I can catch one going by, in the mean time though its a great place to watch a sunset.

I went during one of the lowest tides of the year, and I saw a lot of sea life. I saw sea cucumbers, sea stars, fish, countless sea anemones, etc. On the walk back, I even saw a ginormous moon snail. There were incredible views of the water and sand. It's super refreshing to relax here. Do note that you have to climb a fenced overpass across some railroad tracks, so if you're nervous about heights, don't look down! The washrooms here weren't well stocked with soap when I visited, but it might be because of the sheer volume of visitors. Multiple car parks were full. It's great to see that everyone is so interested in nature!

A nice neighborhood park with a playground, grassy area, and some picnic tables. It can get a bit…read morebusy at times and it may be difficult to find a place to sit if you are looking to sit at one of the picnic benches. It is in a residential neighborhood, so it can also get quiet busy with kids at times. We would wait for quiet times when I was growing up and my parents would bring me and my sister here and to the adjacent Rest Lawn to learn to ride our bicycles. I preferred the paved surface of the roads on the Rest Lawn, but I learned to get started and stop on grass (at this park) as that is harder than starting on smooth surfaces. In the long term that worked out because learning to ride my bike on paved surfaces was a lot easier once I got going on grass. We'd make an effort to come during the day when most people were eating or at off hours on the weekends. Now the field in Hickman Park is turf. Be mindful what time of day you visit as the park draws different crowds at different days/times. The playground is temporarily closed due to COVID-19, but the rest of the park is open.

The process for renting was simple snd straightforward with the city of edmonds. You can do it online. When we arrived it was clean and ready. There is a grill, covered shelter area electricity,bathrooms and plenty of picnic tables. Separated enough for privacy but close to play area to watch your kids. The price was fare and we had a great reunion. This would be a good choice for any outdoor family function of 40 or less. The only minus is Parking is a bit limited.

The trails of Centennial Park from the parking lot make their way away from the street and I found…read morethe noise from the cars died off as I made my way into the park today, Thursday 27 April 2023. As I explored the trails, I found a few stream crossings, different bird species, a baby snake, and a variety of flowers in bloom. The park was quiet and I did not encounter too many people as I explored. Across the stream(s), I found the trails could get a bit muddy and overlain with blackberry branches. I was wearing running shoes with thinner soles and decided not to go the way of the blackberry bushes as the thorns might have put holes in them, something to explore with thicker-soled shoes. The birds were singing all throughout my visit, which was soothing. Closer to the parking lot is a viewing area overlooking an expanse with longer grass, a covered picnic area with a grill, and an old schoolhouse that can be reserved for different uses. Fun park to stop and enjoy the wildlife, trees, and flowers.
