Home to the most famous Santa in the DFW area and also one of the most famous in the US - especially in the flyover land - probably only rivaled by Chicago. We enjoy shopping here when in town and have been coming here my whole life - literally - (and I'm old enough to officially be AARP eligible)! Shopping memories with my grandmother here - bought shoes here for my daughter to wear to my grandmother's funeral - partly in her memory.

I came here in search of boots, which I knew might be a lost cause because it's already March and…read moreboots are being phased out of stores to make room for Spring and Summer items. They had a few sales racks but nothing in my size. Nordstrom is always a beautiful department store and I appreciate how the sales reps are helpful and available without breathing down your necks you really are never bothered. While I was there the gentleman offered to measure my foot because I mentioned that my size seems to go up an down all the time ever since Covid. I assumed it was because I was barefoot a lot more due to being home more. He said that could be it, but that shoe makers are starting to come up with their own sizing (like vanity sizes in women's clothing). He did he often wears a different size depending on the shoe maker. That was a nice tip to keep in mind.

I tried clothes on and asked if they could keep them at the counter while I continued to look, the girl working at the register didn't even make eye contact with me, she just said ok, with an upset face. Hmmm while I continued looking for clothing for an upcoming vacation, a gentleman that works there offered if he could put clothes in a dressing room for me, he was he only helpful person there. In the end I found lots of great clothes for my vacation however, I feel the need to write this review because the only reason I feel I was treated differently was because of the color of my skin. I find it weird because I'm Hispanic and it looked like everyone working there that was ignoring me is Hispanic too. Next time I will rethink going there. Perhaps some customer service training needs to be revisited.

First of all, who doesn't love The Gap?…read more This is a cute lil Gap. Right in the heart of the Inwood Village. The reason for (fyi, there is a Gap kids right next door...surprised?) I was getting so frustrated cause I was looking for this dress in my size and it was like the 3rd Gap I went too. Not only did the lovely sales lady notice my frustration, she took all the clothes out of my hands and got me a dressing room. She then told me to start trying on and she would look for the dress so I wouldn't end up having a stroke in the store. Smart girl. Fast forward 4 minutes later...VOILA! Dress in hand. Easy as pie. She was cute and talkative, but not creepy talkative, like trying to get me to buy stuff. Oh and the new 1969 jeans are in and they are TO DIE FOR! Fit like a glove... I left with my dress, two new pairs of jeans and a new found love for the Gap on Lovers Lane.

I've often heard the advice, "If you want the best thrift store finds, be sure and shop in the…read morewealthiest neighborhoods." This well-curated store proved that maxim true as I found a lot of true vintage pieces, quirky and in excellent condition. The accessories here were also plentiful. Lots of unique hair clips, chunky jewelry and handmade Etsy-esque items. I caught and released a Free People mini-dress and a Diane von Furstenberg wrap. Surprisingly, there was a unhoused gentleman having some kind of altercation with himself just outside the store as I was leaving. It's definitely not an area where I would usually expect to see something like that.

From a seller's POV, I already knew they wouldn't accept everything I brought in and their buyers…read morewould lowball everything, but after clearing out my closets for Spring and reviewing everything with a close eye, I realized some items might be worth getting some money out of rather than donating it all to the local thrift. Unfortunately there really isn't a market for a lot of my clothing and shoes in the OKC metro area and I wanted to get out of town for a bit so I decided a road trip to Dallas was necessary. The store itself is clean, has parking right out front and the staff was pretty friendly and reasonable. In any other situation I would do trade, but for obvious reasons this time I did cash. I got enough money to pay for a full tank of gas on the way home, despite selling them premium vintage and designer pieces. My biggest complaint is that I was told they are only looking for natural fibers, but the clothing they are selling is synthetic fast fashion.

They have a great variety of stuff here, but most importantly (to me at least) they have a petite section just like regular J. Crew! I find that a lot of J.Crew clothes are designed for taller women but that means a trip to the tailor's for me under normal circumstances. Their petite selection is pretty solid and all of my petite stuff from here fits perfectly. I'm also a big fan of any place that offers consistently exceptional customer service. The staff at J. Crew Mercantile are excellent, super friendly, helpful, and AVAILABLE! I've never had to wait around forever looking for someone to help me find a size, reach an item out of my reach, etc. I bought a pair of slacks recently and upon wearing them for 3 hours realized they stretched a LOT and that I should have purchased a size down. Their return policy states that items must be unworn but when I brought the slacks into the store they made absolutely no issue about it. They initially offered to refund me and I had to explain that I loved these slacks and just wanted a pair that fit better! It was a happy and casual swap out and in less than 10 minutes I was out the door with the smaller size. Love this shop!
