    Alder Cottage- Living Room
    Happy F.

My family planned a 5 day visit to Fort Bragg, and I found L&L by searching the web. The images on their site are pretty true to life. Our experience with the owner was limited to email and phone mostly, and she is a bit slow to respond. Though, when she did respond she was courteous and very accommodating. We reserved the whole site, plus we brought an RV to park, which was great. It is dog friendly, just be aware of their whereabouts because there is a friendly dog on the property, plus chickens and (of course) llamas. The llamas weren't too crazy about our dogs. This place is rustic, but comfortable. We stayed in Alder Cottage with another couple with a child. The child slept on a roll-out bed in the living area. It worked out well. The large houses both have full size refrigerators. Keep in mind, Alder Cottage is best for groups to hang out, as it has a pool table, and the larger kitchen/dining area. The Garden Tower has a small fridge. My parents stayed in the Garden Tower, which was nice. It's a little more modern. Compact, but roomy enough for two. Beware of the stairs to the loft, they are very steep. Use both hands going up, and probably come down backwards to save yourself from falling forward. Seems a little dangerous to me. The tower also has a futon down stairs. A few of us used the hot tubs, which were in great condition, and had digital controls. The bathroom towels smelled musty, but that might be due to the fact that we were on the coast. They may get moist from the humidity? I do not know. Well, we ended up using our beach towel. You may want to being your own bath towels, just in case. There is a picnic table that is in the middle of all 3 houses. It was a great spot to converge. We tried eating outside for as many meals as we could. Plus, shopping at the local Safeway and cooking for ourselves saved us a ton of money. And gave us more time to visit. This spot is about 2 miles from down town Fort Bragg, and a short drive to the town of Mendocino. A short drive to many beaches. L&L is also super close to the Botanical Gardens- which was a great spot. Before going, be sure that there aren't any weddings happening during your visit. There was one on a Sunday- and my sister had to quickly change her plans to go when the wedding was not happening (in the Dahlia section). For the money- this is a great place. It comfortably suited 5 couples, plus 5 little children. And, space for an RV. In the end, everyone was pretty pleased with the space. We can recommend Lodging and Llamas.

She made sure our room was ready for us, gave us a discount coupon for a nearby restaurant, and handed us a list of local places to check out, which was so helpful after a long day of driving. Everything was thought out in advance, and we really appreciated that level of care. The room itself was nice, and the ocean view from the balcony was lovely. The location is great, and the property definitely has that classic coastal Fort Bragg vibe. That said, for nearly $300 a night, there were a couple of misses. The shampoo bottle mounted in the shower was empty, which was disappointing -- especially at that price. Thankfully, I had brought my own. It was also pretty noisy early in the morning, with doors slamming throughout the building, which made it hard to get solid rest. Because of those things, I'm taking off one star. Even so, I genuinely liked the place and would consider staying again. Huge shout-out to Cody for going above and beyond -- her kindness and professionalism really made the stay better. @wegotschwag on tik tok

The views with the two arms of the harbor wrapping around the hotel...it is magical. I was worried when I read and saw how close it was to the highway, but with the way its nestled into the hill, road noise is no problem. As for the fog horn, yes, it is noisy and annoying. But we were provided ear plugs and a box fan. Due to the excessive heat this year (and probably every year moving forward--thanks a lot consumerist culture and climate change), we were roasting the first night. No AC. (And I hope they never get it. More wasted energy.) Used the box fan the second night and it was perfect. During the day, opened the glass patio door and enjoyed the ocean breeze. And did I mention the views? I could sit on that patio and watch the water, listening to seals barking, all. day. long. Lastly...it is walkable to the Noyo Headlands Park. This open space is magical. We learned that the neighboring wastewater plant helped replenish the soil after the conservancy obtained the land from the old lumber mill. Volunteers seeded plant life. Brilliant use of local resources! The birds and sea life were incredible. So glad to enjoy nature's glory, and just a walk from the hotel room.

The view from the hotel is beautiful, you're right by the water and right off the highway/main road. We were able to walk to various places but preferred driving because of how the road is built and how busy it is. This hotel is super close to everything, shops, restaurants, and viewpoints. The hotel itself was clean and managed well. Our room was organized, the bathroom had nice soap and shampoo/conditioner included, and we never had trouble getting parking in the small lot they have. They also had breakfast in the mornings which was nice because we were able to grab something on the go when we were heading out. Very nice staff, would stay here again!

The location is amazing with incredible views of the ocean. Whether you get a hotel room with a view or not, you are steps away from the ocean. You can soak in the views, walk along the rugged coastline, or walk down to the beach. If you walk or ride a bike a little over a mile to Otsuchi Point (a little past Glass Beach) you will have panoramic views that are breathtaking near sunset. I loved the large jacuzzi tub, sitting out on our private balcony and watching the waves and sunset, and it was very convenient to walk our dog along the old railroad path, which is flat and paved. There is a decent size fridge in the room and a microwave, which is nice. I got a good nights rest. The only downside I would say is that there is no breakfast due to Covid. There is also some street noise since it's near the road. All in all, it's a great hotel due to the location, ocean views, jacuzzi tub in some of the rooms, private balconies in some of the rooms, and that it's pet friendly. We will definitely be back!

We thought it was a saw, sounded like someone was doing renovations above our room. No 'continental' breakfast, just coffee pods and tea bags. Agree with Doreen B - rooms are shabby. Don't expect daily room service as that must now be a thing of the past. Rates don't reflect the lack of services or condition of the property. Location is fine. Not far out of town. Does have access to the beach - with a walk through a field and then a hike down a cliff. So if your up for that? There is a paved walk/bike path that runs behind the property and is heavily used. Don't expect privacy on your little deck - if you are lucky to face the ocean. Parking is slim, but there is a public parking lot right next door that you could walk over from. The staff is great. They are well aware of the properties shortcomings. Would I come back here again - no.

Great vibe overall. There's a path right to Jug Handle beach right across the street. Honestly I'd give this place five stars, except our second night, the campers next door were super-loud party-types (quiet time is supposed to start at 9PM), and on top of that, unbelievably, an incredibly loud marching band replete with a bass drum and trumpets were playing on what I believe was the property "next door" for hours--at least 'til 11pm. Keep in mind this was a Sunday night (???) Honestly, I was not a happy camper. People go camping to enjoy themselves and to get some peace and quiet at the appropriate time. So if some private party place or private residence nearby is going to have a MARCHING BAND (or whatever it was) going on late on a Sunday night--along with party campers loud-talking late into the night--you should really be up-front that yeah, noise is a thing until late. I'd ask for a refund but I didn't book this trip and I am too tired from lack of sleep. So ... great place for camping, great weekend overall, but late-night noise was an issue, or at least it was for us.

Prior to coming up to the farm I was very lucky to have made contact with Helene Chafin who works for this non profit organization. She was very informative of things we should do and see. She was very sweet to have spent time on the phone sharing all the fun places to visit. She also gave us a tour of the nursery on with native plants at Jughandle Creek Farm. Helene is a singer and we hired her for a fun singalong with the kids around the campfire. Helene introduce us to Fern Tanja, Jughead Creek Farm' naturalist. We hired Fern who gave us a three hour hike into the different terrace starting with the Ecological Staircase at the ocean level to the Pygmy Forest. She was very educational teaching us about the native plants, and how the ecological staircase was created by Mother Nature. This place is about a 10 minute drive to Fort Bragg and Mendocino. Highly recommend to spend at least a week to experience everything this area has to offer.
