I used to be a customer of hers and I wanted to give my honest review without going into too much detail. TL;DR at the bottom In the beginning of being her former client things went well. Good first impression and everything was great. Weird thing was that on the first appointment she asked about something regarding trans people which was off but I brushed it off. She was also late to the first appointment which was understandable because she forgot some of her child's things and things happen. Fast forward to other appointments, she was late a few more times and one time she was around 2 hours late and I was about to cancel but she arrived finally. She didn't give me a discount and I had to pay full price... Even with my very last appointment she wasn't finished with the other client and I had to wait again. While I was getting my locs done, I told her how it would've been nice/cute if her son became a hairstylist just like her which caused her to go on a rant about gay men and trans women. Very strange to be honest. She also told me she doesn't feel comfortable being around gay men along with saying something along the lines of how she believes there's a genocide going on where there's less fully black children due to there being too many gay men. Then she asked me if I was uncomfortable with said gay men?? After that appointment she ghosted me for whatever reason, not exactly sure why. It's been months but I just wanted to put down this review to give my honest opinion. She has great knowledge and does an amazing job with doing locs, it's just unfortunate that she's homophobic and transphobic. TL;DR: MY experience with Lola began great, she wasn't on time with several appointments and she's homophobic and transphobic. If you're a gay man or a trans woman with locs, I don't recommend going to her. read more

Met Lola because she is my friend's loctician and came highly recommended. My first consult with her, I was worried about my starter locs forming knots and Lola was nice enough to crochet through some of the knots and even retwisted my hair. I followed Lola from Oakland to her own shop that she opened up. I live right here in concord and coming upon an affordable and reliable service for locs to get done is few and far between, if even possible. Always professional always on point. Lola B is absolutely the best person to go to! She was completely busy when I needed to get my hair done and somehow managed to fit me in on a 10 hour job! She could absolutely not done it that day at all but she did! Not only did she help me but she made my lock's look absolutely amazing for the 1st time ever... If you're ever thinking about going do it at a new shop.. I wouldnt go anywhere else but this place. They can be a little more expensive but it is all the worth it in the end she will make you so happy with your hair you will walk away with a smile without a doubt!! I won't go to anyone else ever in my life due to Lola diligince and hard work this is the woman you want doing you hair!!! Venue- I definitly recommend coming to Loctology. It's a nice quiet professional setting, you don't have to worry about long wait times or being in a shop full of other clients. You will always come in to good vibes and leave satisfied with your service. Lola Buny- Lola is very professional she will always make you feel comfortable and she does great work. She started my locs from scratch 3 months ago. She asked me what size I wanted, I told her to make them a lttle bit smaller than my pinky finger and she did just that. They turned out way better than anything I could imagine in my head. Not only does she do great work but her customer service is unmatched. I live in Oakland and I don't mind commuting to concord I refuse to let anyone else touch my hair. read more

Due to this, I was a bit hesitant to book at first as well but I took a leap of faith after looking at her work. I am so glad I did. I booked a consultation Sunday afternoon and got a consultation the next day on Monday. She was absolutely thorough in what I wanted and made sure it was to my expectation. I told her I wanted to keep my natural hair length (as I am growing it out) but I wanted to add extensions for a little extra length and volume. If you're looking for the same, tape ins are one of the greatest options to do so with little to no damage if properly taken care of. I decided to do a color correction with some added highlights to bring out some depth + toning to a chocolate brown color to correct some of the brassiness + adding some 24 inch tape-ins (both rooted brown/blonde highlights + chocolate brown to add more length and volume). Trust me.... SO. WORTH. IT. For reference, I added about 150g. You will see in my photos shortly ladies!!!!!!! Anyway, she ordered the hair the same night (Monday) and it came in just in time for my Saturday morning appointment. She does the tapes herself so this is an absolutely remarkable turnaround. More than that, Taylor was incredibly transparent with the cost of the extensions and even sent me the receipt to show that I was paying for exactly that with no hidden costs, something you don't see too often these days. The studio was such a vibe with clean and modern aesthetics! Cute plants, both nice natural lighting and lit LED mirrors, cosy teddy bear sofa & pretty framed pics of her work. On the day of my appointment, she took the time to understand my hair's condition and the type of dye previously used. I showed her a picture to explain the color I wanted, and by the end, she was able to achieve it perfectly. Alicia does an amazing job and made me feel confident about my hair's look! The cuticles are misaligned, ends are split, and the hair is impossible to brush to the point where it feels like doll hair. I've started my loc journey November of 2018 with Lola and could not be anymore happier. I was referred to her by a really good friend of mine. I personally had no experience in locs nor knew the entire process, but I took a chance and Lola made it happen. I have straight hair and Lola had me send her pictures of my hair to give me a recommendation on how it should be loc'd which was very reassuring especially for someone who didn't know what they were getting into. On top of that, she did give me the run down on the entire process, time, cost and all which definitely helped me on the idea of how much time and money I'd be spending on the process. The first and best hair experience I've had since moving to the Bay Area. Lola started my locs about a year ago and I always look forward to going back in for maintenance. She's great at what she does and it ain't hard to tell that she loves doing it. Lola always comes thru and makes time for me. Her all natural no product technique keeps my scalp from any irritation, the growth has been so fast and my locks have matured beautifully.
