I lost the proximity key while traveling for work about 3 weeks ago. Originally I was going to have my car towed to the dealership, but after realising how much they were going to charge to get a new key and program it, I decided to try a locksmith instead. Locksmith Monkey was one of the few to provide this service and at a reasonable price. He came out within an hour of my call and was incredibly patient as my car was incredibly difficult to program. I called this business to inquire about having the locks on my house changed, due to a safety concern. I was asked for my name and address, quoted a price, and scheduled for "between 6:00 and 7:00" PM. No one ever arrived, and that's when I realized I hadn't been asked for my phone number. Due to the situation that was prompting my call, I didn't catch that during the phone call, but it should be information a business obtains during the call for service. So I waited, received no service, and am scrambling to find another business to address this issue. I did call this business the next day to ask what had happened; he said he "couldn't find my address," and it turns out he had written it down incorrectly; one of the numbers was wrong. read more

We had a ring of keys stolen for our house. They came out and replaced our outside locks so they all use the same key and fixed our annoying front door that you had to jiggle just right to open. Good experience. Lost my Jeep key and had it replaced in a matter of a couple hours. It was a little pricey. I don't really know what the industry standard is and figured it wouldn't be cheap but I wasn't quite expecting 175. Either way, I didn't feel they were at all dishonest in pricing. Their estimates are not indicative off what you'll be billed. The locksmith was taking a while at my house, changing locks, apologizing for the time it was taking. Finally, as he finished, he announces he'll be billing me another $85 for the extra hour is took him. On the positive side, the locks work. Never again though. read more

Called Locksmith Monkey for a car lockout. Basic price quoted @ $45. It's a 2002 Chev Tahoe with a basic key. Technician arrived and claimed that it would be difficult, requiring going in through the door jam so basic charge was $105. Not so, he was done in 1 minute flat. I would NEVER use these liars again. I was locked out of my car (forgot my key inside by accident) I was running late to a wedding. I called the locksmith who is located only a few minutes away from this downtown hotel. I was told it would take 20 minutes at the most. After half an hour wait, I called and was told the driver went the wrong way and was coming soon. I waited another 15+ minutes for the driver. When he arrived it was a freaky looking unmarked black vehicle with a freaky driver who was trying to blame me for him getting lost. He told me my car was extremely difficult to open which I don't know why (its a 1999 Toyota 4 Runner) nothing special about. It took him less than 5 minutes to open my car he gave me a bill of $159 and wanted me to pay cash on the spot. I do not carry that much cash on me (who does?) he said he will take credit card card and will charge me 10% more for the bill. So I left paying him $175 for less than 5 minutes of work. I feel extremely ripped off and vulnerable. I would never recommend them to Anyone. read more

Ahhh, what a horrible ending to a wonderful day. First of all just want to start off & say that I drive a Toyota Prius! Ha. The car isn't suppose to lock with the keys in the car. But since they were hidden in my purse the car didn't sense that they were in there and locked anyway. So I had some of my friends try and open the door somehow with a coat hanger. After about 30 minutes to an hour we gave up and decided to call a locksmith. Found Locksmith Monkey online and called and told them my probably asked the guy on the phone how much it would be & he said 25 for coming out there and 15 & up for unlocking it depending on what car it is. Naive little me just thought oh maybe it'll only be around 50 to 70 dollars. But boy was I wrong. He charged me 130 & said that he won't charge me the 25 dollars since he was late. It literally took him like a minute & he made one hundred & thirty dollars. Wish I saw everyone's reviews before I called them. There are horrible people & awful businesses in this world. Hard earned money just went to waste for a stupid mistake I made. & what's even more sad is I had cake and coffee in the car and it was locked away and I had to wait to get it ha! After being told that he was going to be there in 25 minutes, he came an hour late and was rude.
