Last week was very stressful for me . To start off it was a very busy week for me on top of working and taking care of my son that was very sick. He needed me to take him to the ER when he didn't start to feel better after so many days. So here is my store about how my week went from starting off to be a normal week ended up being very stressful. First off my second oldest son was very ill and had asked if I could take him to the dr.s couldn't get an appointment till next month. So I made the decision to taking my son the the ER for the care he needed right away. While I was in the hospital waiting for my son and for everything to be finished from X-rays ect. When my son was finished we were walking out of the hospital and I pulled my keys out of my purse and wouldn't you know it I dropped them Down the sewer drain there in the parking lot... Grr not good at all . So I did a search for locksmiths in my area and I called locksmith monkey. They came out within 30 minutes and the nicest gentleman showed up . I talked to the dispatcher and told him what had happened and stated my keys and my remote for my 2004 jeep Cherokee plus my house key was on it. I had called several other locksmiths and they all told me it was a dealers only key because my car needed a pin code what ever that was. Kay was the dispatcher and he reassured me that his tech was the best and I'd be driving my car soon back home so he could make me yet another key for my home. 45-50 minutes later I had a key that worked my jeep started and a new remote also that worked. After I dropped off my oldest at his home, Ilan followed me to my home and opened my door so I could get inside with my youngest son while he worked on making me a new key for my door. About 30 or so minutes passed and he told me everything was finished gave me new keys to my house . After everything was done I was pleased with what the total bill was, new key for jeep Cherokee 2004 and new remote plus making me 2 keys for my house one for the key chain and one extra just in case. With a grand total of 290$. I was sitting on the tarmac at SFO awaiting a very late departure for PDX when I received a call from the young woman who rents my small ADU. Long story short, her door needed to be rekeyed, both deadbolt and handle lock. I had no experience with a locksmith and had to just begin the googling process. Found a couple of decent reviews for Locksmith Monkey and since they are NE Portland based and I live in NE Portland decided to call for just some information. The dispatcher was so calm and so concientious with his questions that I just agreed to use him on the spot without calling around for other estimates-which I NEVER do. Better yet, he promised that his brother would be there between 45 minutes to an hour. Who ever expects a workman to be so easily available? Now I was really nervous-maybe they had no business, or it was just a promise to keep me on the hook while it really took them forever to get there. Exactly 50 minutes later Barack arrived at my front door. Less than 40 minutes later I had new locks, a couple of keys and a wonderful experience. All for $115.00. The next day Barack called to recheck that all was OK and that I was happy with the job. I was! I was quoted $25 call, and a minimum of $25. per lock depending on what kind it was. I do not remember being quoted a labor charge (which was $40.). However, I have never had a service call of any kind where I was not charged labor over and above. The call price is usually to assess the job and then parts and labor always come on top of that. Reading the complaints on this website, perhaps in the future the company might choose to clarify that there will be labor on top of stated prices. But, I never expected to qualify for the minimum lock price ot $25., so it all worked fine. All in all, I'm very happy and will not only use again, but recommend Locksmith Monkey! read more

The other day I took my dog to the park. as I arrived at Oaks park I shut the door to walk around to grab my dog out of the back, and my dog had jumped on the door and locked my car. As looked inside the car I then realized I left my purse keys and phone in the car with my dog, All safely locked inside. Being frustrated and starting to freak out on my self since my puppy locked the car up with him inside with everything that was important to me. I found someone in the park and asked if i could use their phone so i could call someone to come and unlock my car. I kept asking about how much and he kept insisting no but I wanted to pay so I insisted on giving him something for coming out and helping me and getting my puppy out of the car. I emailed yesterday 6/21 to have them help me install a new door knob with keypad for the mental health office I work in (as well as copy some keys to a different door) I tried to do the installation myself and found halfway through I didn't have the necessary tools to remove the existing lock. I sent photos as requested and he told me "You're trying to install a residential lock on a commercial door," but he would come by the next day 6/22 try anyway. I mentioned my hours twice and he asked me if 9-930am. I told him no, said again I could be available at 10am at the earliest but I never heard back from him. This morning around 9am, the owner of my practice was disturbed by the locksmith while she was in a session with a patient by his banging on our front door. He was very short with her and the other staff member we had here this morning, but was able to install the keypad. He then told us to "go to the store" to get the keys copied because he didn't have they kind we needed. We've tried before and we can't get them copied anywhere but a locksmith. He was already gone by the time I got into the office at 945am. He didn't leave an invoice and I had to email him again to have it sent to me so I could pay him. I learned a couple of things this past week. One, is that I need to be more responsible and the second one was when I lost my keys. I had no clue that there are a few models of Toyota, Lexus, and Honda that can't be programmed by a standard key programmer. It's definitely something that I don't think about in my everyday life but experiencing the loss made me more aware of the care/maintenance of my 2003 Toyota. Apparently this model must go through a process called "ECU flashing" or more commonly referred to as "reflashing". I was told information by a very helpful towing company that helped me through this. I lost all of my keys (home,car, office, and p.o. box) and I knew I had only two options... either tow my vehicle to the dealership or call a locksmith. I did some Googling to compare prices and found out that towing to the dealership was not worth it. I found this awesome company called "Locksmith Monkey" and they were able to do everything for about half what the dealership would charge. The locksmith guy arrived in a moments notice and took care of the issue without delay and finished the job within an hour. These guys KNOW what they're doing. My 600RR has been garaged for a long time due to me losing my one and only key (have multiples, pls) Long story short, I had a "locksmith" come out after sounding extremely confident over the phone that he could cut a key from scratch, but after spending hours poking at my ignition, couldn't get the job done and resulted in a key that was not only able to open my gas tank and rear seat cover.. but also the depths of my despair as I wondered if I would EVER ride again. Fast forward a few years later the spark of riding kindled a flame and i began seeking alternative, very EXPENSIVE methods of acquiring a working key.. from tearing apart completely, new ignition.. you know the drill. BUT, after searching forums i decided to give Locksmith Monkey a chance.. Hey guys wanted to share my experience with you: A couple of weeks ago both of my car keys broke around the same time when I was trying to turn the car on. The key portion was coming out of the plastic case. I have a 2008 Toyota Camry. I love my car and I haven't really run into any major issues since I purchased it, so for both of my keys to break within days of each other was a little devastating. I contacted the dealership and they told me it was going to cost at least around $400 to replace both keys. Had increasing difficulties with my 2009 Honda Fit ignition key for weeks when I finally researched the problem. Found great information on Locksmith Monkey's website about it that was confirmed from other sources. Called and received a visit from Ilan the same day. He inspected and diagnosed the main problem but on fixing it found the steering column parts inside the ignition mechanism were still not working right. He explained how this happened and my options. He gave me a not-to-exceed bid for fixing it no matter what it took. He ended up taking it home and disassembling and rebuilding it there, spending far more hours for that bid than any reasonable rate for a locksmith. It would have cost over a thousand for the dealership to have replaced the lock and then I would also have to get new keys and the car's VIN would no longer index to any replacement keys. I called Locksmith Monkey as soon as I shut the door and knew I was locked out. It was approximately 930 AM and I asked them to meet me at my house at 230 PM when I got home from work. Upon arrival at home at 215 PM, I called to confirm them coming and the locksmith called me back to say he was in route. He could not "pick" my back door lock as it was not a "pickable" lock. He then proceeded to the front door, and said he hoped he could do the front door. And, lo and behold, he did in 15 minutes. He did not damage anything and I was thrilled. I paid him the required $125 and he was on my way and I was in my house. Was very impressed how relatively inexpensive it was (all things considered), how prompt Locksmith Monkey was and how it all went so easily in 15 minutes. I would, for sure, hire them again. I had a great experience in a very complicated situation! I have an uncommon car into which I accidentally locked the key. Getting into it was no easy task, but the person who came figured everything out. He was personable, explained what he was doing and why, and was a pleasure to spend time with. There was only one key to the car, which was why I needed him in the first place. He then found out that there is only one place in the United States that can make a new factory-grade key, complete with the appropriate electronic signature so that the car would not be shut down by the internal theft prevention system. I have called Locksmith Monkey twice now. First time was for a rekeying of my VW. The technician was very knowledgeable and professional, explaining the particulars of my key, and offered me an alternative to the factory key fob that works perfectly. He worked out of his van, and was able to meet his time estimate. Today, I called Locksmith Monkey because the deadbolt on my safety door wouldn't open. Alan responded to my call quickly and was able to determine that the keys i had cut were not completely cut correctly. He was able to analyze the door lock in his mobile lock lab, and recut a perfect key that works on all of the locks! I am very impressed with the technicians at Locksmith Monkey. First they changed my locks at my business & home and now I had another problem : The key to my Honda vehicle entered the ignition but did not turned- even as I unlocked the wheel. I had never heard of my ignition lock breaking, but when it did, my neighbor told me about calling this guy. I called, and Barak was out at my place within an hour ON A SUNDAY!!! I didn't want to lose a day's work, since I work with disabled adults who often need me, so I didn't want to wait and take my car to my mechanic on Monday. He told me what the problem most likely was and how he could fix it, and helped me get it all processed with my insurance and roadside assistance! And he remembered my neighbor! I love this guy! I lost my keys at the Portland Airport and was stuck in the long term parking. I called another company who told me they would be there in 35 minutes. Then he was really concerned that he was going to be a bit later than he thought so he called me (even though he was still well within the window of time estimated) so I knew when to expect him.
