"Locks And Unlocks" are my new go-to locksmith. They prioritized saving me money over making a profit with their honest advice when I needed a bike lock opened. Highly recommended for future lock issues. My kid locked their bike in the rack at school using a cheap keyed bike lock and then lost the key. As parents, we thought we could fix this. On a cold winter night, hacksawed into the cable 1/4", but it would take days to break through the cable. We plugged an electric saw into the school's exterior outlet. This was less effective than the hacksaw. YouTube's 'Lock Picking Lawyer' recommended a $20+ bike lock-picking kit. Kit failed because eBay seller sent different kit than one shown in listing. Still, props to LP Lawyer. On to the BIC pen lock-picking hack. Nice try, but no... Drastic action needed: a cheap angle grinder or a locksmith. Joseph at "Locks and Unlocks" explained that they could unlock the bike lock and cut another key for it, but that might cost more than our plan to buy a cheap angle grinder and replace the hacksawed lock with another cheap bike lock. For their honesty and for putting our best interest first, I will be hiring "Locks and Unlocks" for any future lock jobs. Recommend!!! read more

Saturday 8/18/21 ~9pm. After a long day tubing on Sugar River we discovered our car key was lost. A call to AAA connected us with Locks & Unlocks. Jake gave us an estimate for $500 due to it being Saturday night (OT) & the year of vehicle being more difficult due to it being a "chip" key. After discussing, we went with L&U's since we were about 30 miles from home, would still need to get into car (no spare) , & needed a special lift tow truck. Jake arrived inless than 20 min, worked for about 30+ min. In the end, Jake provided 2 keys plus a master key (non ignition) key for less than the initial quote!!! I needed a new key fob for my car which meant needing a new key where all keys and the new one and fob needed to be programmed for the car. I drove to their business, which is located by their home. It took longer than expected because there was an apprentice learning, which I was fine with. They kept me informed of any waits and had good conversation with them while they were working on it. I purchased a used Honda Pilot but it only came with one key. I initially went to get a key made from the auto parts store and found that they couldn't do it since it was a "smart key." I was not terribly familiar with these but quickly learned how hard it is to find someone to make a copy (other than the dealer who wants to charge an arm and a leg). Jake was able to help me out and save a ton of money. He had my key cut and programmed in less than 15 minutes. He also tested both sets of keys and remotes to make sure everything was working properly; which was great as I had read horror stories online of people that get a smart key made and something goes wrong with the original. Jake was very professional and was excellent to work with. If you need a smart key made, skip the dealer and save some money by going with Locks and Unlocks instead. Website says 24hours plus it's only 5:30pm. I called to have simple gas cap taken off, would drive to them. Got quoted $110, everywhere else quoted $10. When asked why so much I was told because he was closed. Needless to say call other places first to make sure you get a fair price! I will drive 10 extra miles to not pay overpriced made up fee. Highly recommend this company. I first used them last fall. A family member had passed away and I called these guys to change the locks on my house. They were inexpensive (7 Doors), professional and kind. They arrived on time and were very discreet as I live in a small town. He was even willing to park down the block. Jake, my locksmith, was finished quickly and a week later I even received a beautiful sympathy card from them! I recently had to call them again for the same issue and my experience was exactly the same. He remembered our home and even my dogs! When I explained that my garage code pad was useless and constantly broken for a small price he replaced it and programmed it with the code of my choosing. Rip off business!! Left the gym at Anytime Fitness in Stoughton (a mile from Locks and Unlocks) and the guy said it would be $100 for a car unlock since it was after 5. I called at 5:25. Then when I asked well what do you charge during business hours (thinking I might wait til tomorrow morning since house is with walking distance) and he said it is $70 during business hours! Last Saturday I lost the key for my Jeep Wrangler in Verona, WI. I absent-mindedly lost it somehow. I searched for it in my Jeep, hotel room, and the parking lot of the hotel where I was parked for nearly 3 hours. My insurance company found Jake 30 minutes away in Stoughton and he came out right on time. At first my Insurance told me it could be up to $350 to get a new key made. My jeep is about as bare bones as it gets so I didn't need a fancy key with a microchip or anything. When Jake arrived, he was nothing but friendly , courteous and professional. He could have very easily raked me over the coals in terms of charging me an arm-and-a-leg. However, he was nothing but honest and only charged me $17. I only had $16 in cash on me and he agreed only take $16. When your in a pinch it is always refreshing to meet people who do the right thing and are honest. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM.
