My husband and I had such high hopes for this establishment. The location is great and the place itself is family friendly and accessible, diner style. We were greeted with a smiling face behind the counter, and told we could have a seat anywhere. Our server came right over to take our drink orders.
My husband ordered a combination dipped with sweet and hot peppers. I ordered the Maxwell polish. Both items came with fries. The menu is full of Chicago favorites. Which was really nice to see. We were served our water immediately but it took about 20-25 minutes to get our food. Which was surprising because it wasn't especially busy.
My polish came out first but it was another 5 minutes before my husband's food came out. To our surprise it wasn't what he ordered. As mentioned above he ordered a combination dipped with sweet and hot peppers. What he received was an Italian beef dipped with hot peppers. My husband did not mention to the server that his order was wrong. At this point we were already disappointed.
Both the polish and beef were just okay and left a little to be desired. The fries taste like they had been sitting under the warmer for a good minute. We are both born and raised in Chicago. Which is the reason why we were so excited about this new establishment. Sorely, it did not meet our expectations even half way. To top it off we were charged for the food type we did not receive. We did inform the server and the check was revised.
It's not that I wouldn't recommend this place because I know taste is subjective. Give it a try for yourself but for me it's a no. read more
