I live in Hawaii and I was trying to get my dad's car, which was in Texas, towed from the hospital to a storage unit, and these guy were great they made it happen remotely . They are awesome and I was able to complete the paperwork remotely over internet. The best part was their communication, they really made sure my customer experience was first class for me. Was temporarily storing all of my belongings here mid-Covid while I was between states, and a fire broke out in one of the structures due to another renter storing an illegal gas generator. The entire structure was badly fire-damaged and ultimately torn down. I was notified 36 hours after the fire, and all of my belongings were damaged due to severe smoke/heat/chemical damage. I repeat: everything I owned. When I pulled up to assess the damage, I saw one of the neighboring renters running a gas-powered mower from one of the fire-damaged units to another unit -- all right in front of management. If there's a fire in the new unit, don't be surprised. I later learned that a total loss fire occurred at another Lockaway-San Antonio location the year before and possibly another before that. The fact that they're not monitoring items being moved out of a fire-damaged building or even reminding renters about combustibles not being allowed is all you need to know. Best part: Lockaway was in such a rush to install a new rental structure (i.e., they want that first-of-the-month rental money) that the primary focus of their phone call to notify me of the loss was to ask me to remove anything salvageable out of the fire-damaged unit within days, threatening it all would be thrown away that week - long before the rental month was up. I rushed to pick up the items with the first-available company, but as a result of their managerial incompetence, I've lost priceless, irreplaceable childhood items. They also were not forthcoming with any information related to the fire marshal investigation. The fact that this total loss fire is a repeat occurrence with this chain should tell you everything you need to know...Go elsewhere. read more
