#servicestarshoutoutday Just visited @lockdoctorky to have 2 car keys copied (one with a key fob). I found them a few years ago when a dealer mechanic told me my car would need a part replaced for several hundred dollars because it was not responding to my key fob. I went to the Lock Doctor for a second opinion and it turned out my fob just needed a new battery. Since they saved me a lot of money, and they are fast and efficient, this is now my go-to. This locally owned locksmith company offers comprehensive care. Rekeying, lockout service, car key duplication including remote keys, safe sales and services. They have a hospitable office, and if you are stranded and locked out of your house or car, they will come to you in one of their fully equipped company vans and make a key on the spot for you. read more

Our finicky door lock was cleaned and adjusted in under 10 minutes, but what I really appreciated was being given a detailed explanation and even some unprompted maintenance advice. The price floor for a housecall isn't going to be real low, but for the quality of work, professionalism, and the ease of coordinating the whole thing, it was worth every penny. read more

I broke a key to my mobility scooter and couldn't get the key portion out of the lock. I tried several different things, failing each time. I started to use my glu gun as Google said it would work. However, a little voice in my head said don't. Went by the Taylorsville Road store on a flyer. The man in the parking lot said good thing I didn't use glue as could have created problems, then took less than two minutes and got it out and sent me on my way. Will call them if I ever need any lock serviced. read more

Friendly and helpful team! They quickly completed reprogramming my car and key fobs for a very reasonable price. I would definitely seek their help again. read more

I called a couple companies to have my home rekeyed and chose this one from reviews and the estimate I was given. Imagine my surprise that bill was double the quote I received. The main portion was due to a $65 service run and $60 to pick locks. At time I received quote the young lady said it didn't matter if I had a key for doors or not, but apparently it did matter for the pricing. I'd recommend everyone get specific quote in writing, as I failed to do that on this job and would've selected another company had I been able to compare apples to apples. Service was quick, however 2 other places with equally as good of reviews were cheaper. read more

Quick, suggested using another lock in the house, which saved me effort and money. The technician was early and did not spend much time fixing the situation with my basement lock great job. read more

These folks are super helpful! We were thinking we might need to buy a new key fob for our truck but after changing the battery and putting on a new cover it worked perfectly! This really saved us some money! It's so nice to visit a business that actually wants to help you.... read more

Locked keys in house, very prompt in coming to assist, had to drill lock but had an extra dead bolt in van . Cost was what L expected

Great communication, professional and pleasant. On time, compled job. I will definitely call again for anything locked!

They gave me a new key for much cheaper than what the dealership offered. Not sure if the discounted price was exclusive to Lock Doctor or not because they were the first place I called after being quoted $450 from the Mazda dealer. So I'm unsure if I could've gotten the same key at the same price or cheaper elsewhere. My review is specifically for Lock Doctor. I felt I got a good deal. I pay $143 after tax for a new key fob. My problem didn't come until the day after when I realized the key they cut didn't open the trunk. I had to drive my car back out to Jtown for them to recut the key. The key was still wonky and would only open the trunk with one orientation. I had to ask him to recut the key again to fix this issue because if I'm paying almost $150 for something I want it to work flawlessly. After getting the key to seamlessly open the trunk, the key would not smoothly "pop out" from the fob. I had to wait an hour and thirty minutes at the office for this entire process, the key recut and ejection issue, to be completely fixed. It wasn't that bad but this is my honest and first experience here. read more

Train wreck. Completely incompetent. Stunning to observe. Couldn't open standard door handle. Wasted my time and disturbed my neighbors in the building. Yeah, a locksmith so loud, he disturbed my neighbors. And, had to unmitigated gaul to want to raise the price from $85 to $125, because it took him so long. That was a, no. I'm not responsible for his ineptitude costing him time. I have seen the same type of lock opened in 10 seconds. (Sickeningly) read more

I stupidly lost both keys to my car. I called AAA and they sent Lock Doctor. Vince Called to let me know when to expect him and called to tell me he had arrived. Super nice and efficient. I was worried because my car in 22 years old, but he knew what he was doing. Let me know that they also repair and replace home locks. I will definitely call Lock Doctor again!! read more

This is the first service that I investigated and booked exclusively through the Yelp app, and it was a seamless experience. I was recently in need of re-keying on a couple of my doors and decided to see who was recommended on Yelp. Lock Doctor was right at the top with a ton of 5-star reviews, plus a handy "request a quote" button on the listing. I clicked on it and messaged them with my needs. Within about 15 minutes I had gotten a reply, and was able to set up a convenient appointment from there. On the day of the appointment, I got a call about 5 minutes before that they were running late but still on the way. I had some flexibility in my schedule and appreciated the prompt heads up. Once the employee arrived he was polite, professional, and efficient. Within about 10 minutes I had my doors re-keyed. Once they gave me the total, it was even less than I expected (I think $35 for the service call and then $12 per lock), which was a pleasant surprise! My new keys and locks all work superbly! For your lock needs, don't hesitate to give Lock Doctor a call (or a click, if you're using the app). I hope that your experience with them is just as positive as mine was as well! read more

I requested quotes thru yelp and they were 75% of the quote from the other company that replied. I got there at the end of the day and was in and out in less than 15 minutes. I have had the new smart key for my car for several months and have had no issues at all. I will definitely be going back if I need another key made. They also keep your key cut on file in case you need another and this also helps keep the cost down. read more

He was amazingly fast and responsive. I called him out side of hours to help me get a kid out of a locked room. He said he wouldn't be here for a hour and a half. He was here in 30 minutes and in the room in 1 minute. Thank you for your excellent customer service! read more

We have an older house and the locks were original hardware. We had called one company who had us send photos of the hardware after we took it apart. They offered to sell us new & said we could install it ourself. My husband was not comfortable as it is an unusual set up so he called the Lock Doctor yesterday. The technician came this morning and at first was not sure it could be fixed but he took it apart again and found the problem. He fixed it and completed the job in under an hour! The technician was super nice and I would highly recommend them! read more

Hooked me up quickly when I was in need. Saturday hours available. Prices were fair.

I strongly recommend using lock doctor and I am a doctor, lol. I used them to reprogram some of my key FOBs for my 20 year old Lexus and they did it in under 15 minutes without an appointment and for a fraction of a price than what the dealership would charge. I tried youtube it but none of the silly videos worked with reprogramming. Just let them use their device to do it quickly and you can be on your way read more

Scott & Michael are fantastic locksmiths and great to work with. If you need anything and live in 40299 they're only moments away. I needed a key fob last minute and they were the only one to have the original OEM remote in stock. Highly recommended!!! read more

I called him for an estimate for a duplicate car key. His charge was higher than some other highly rated businesses. I asked if he could do it for the same amount as another business. He was rude and arrogant. His behavior was inexcusable! I would definitely not waste my money with him. read more

Arrived on time, professional, knowledgeable with great information on the re keying of our new house. Recommended locks to compliment the house as well safety functionality. Will be having them come out again to finish up when the new parts arrive. read more

These guys were great! We needed new handles and deadbolts installed on two exterior doors. Two locksmiths showed up on time, worked quickly and cleaned up the mess after they were done. What we got were two doors with locks that engage with buttery smoothness and a sense of security. I've honestly never had locks that you didn't have to pull or push on the door a little to engage, so the proper installation resulting in extreme ease of use took some getting used to. Friendly, punctual, awesome installation and a good price. read more

Called and they stated one price and then they measure the situation and how desperate you are to go into your house and rack up the price. I won't use them again, it took them 2 mins to open so the price hike is not based on the complexity of opening the door, it how much they can take advantage of you read more

I just purchased a Mitsubishi Outlander but it only came with one key. Michael at Lock Doctor was incredibly helpful. I had the key fobs and other business wouldn't even work with me because they wanted a lot of money of selling me the key fob and then the cost of programming. Michael wasn't sure if they were the correct key fobs but worked on it till he got it working. He deserves a lot of credit and didn't even charge much!!! All my business goes to Lock Doctor on Taylorsville Road in Jeffersontown from now on!!! read more

I bought a used Toyota Corolla. I only had the one key and fob. I went to Oxmoor Toyota . Parts Dept. told them what I needed. Supplied all the info, which was excessive. He made the key told me price was $246.00. I paid it at the cashier station. Cashier asked me if I had the receipt from the Service Dept. I asked "what service receipt", and was informed the $246.00 Key need to be activated to my car at an additional charge. I wasn't informed of that before hand. I was UPSET! Got my money back, googled Key Fob Replacement. LOCKDOCTOR had good reviews. Went to them on Taylorsville Rd. 34 minutes and $132.00 got a new key and fob and a nice key ring! LOCKDOCTOR is superb! I highly recommend them. I AM NOT THAT EASY TO PLEASE! read more

Listen!!! Since COVID hit I have watched customer service in every industry crumble right in front of me. As a small business owner myself, it blows my mind how it's even possible. Let me tell you what just happened to me at the Lock Doctor though. I locked myself out of the house this morning. I drove to my wife's work to get her house key. Worked out great. She gets off work, we leave for dinner, both our keys are now inside the house. We have fun blowing money on local small businesses that we like etc... We get home and realize...we have no keys... How do u think my wife responded??? It wasn't good. I call a normal Locksmith who ranked high on Google because clearly the wrath of hell is being brought down upon me in front of my very eyes... It worked, someone is inbound 45 minutes.. $85. Ok, cool.. At this point I would have agreed to $200. (You haven't seen her mad) Then I remember, I used a local company to key our locks, searched text history. Found it. It was The Lock Doctor. I remembered how smooth, easy, cost effective that service was, but also realized it's 10pm on a Friday night. Slim chance anyone's even gonna answer until Monday right... So, I'm thinkin' okay I can sit here 45 minutes while Satan himself stares a hole straight through my soul and literally my entire bloodline before me.. Or call the Lock Doctor...... brah... listen....I called The Lock Doctor!!! 2 rings and an ANSWER!!!?!?! I'm like WHAAATTT??? I briefly explain my situation knowing at best I'm about to get a real nice apology on how there's really nothing they can do at 10 o clock on a Friday right... This DUDE ASKED MY PHONE NUMBER, TOLD ME MY NAME, AND MY ADDRESS within the first minute of our call!!!! It gets better... do you know what he said next???? He said, WOULD YOU WANNA MEET ME OVER AT THE SHOP AND I CAN JUST CUT YOU A NEW KEY??? BROOO!!! WHAT THE WHAT??? Did u just say?? Whaaaat??? I hop back in the car with Lucifer, drive 4 minutes down the road to have said phone answerer enter the parking lot the same, exact time as we did. He invited me and my kid inside where we both enjoyed a glass of ice cold water and a break from Hells wrath. He finished the key before we finished our water and looked me right in the eyeballs and said.... listen.... Wait for it... This man said... $10!!!!! Bro!!!!! Are you kidding me??? So refreshing y'all! Just WOW!! This dude SAVED MY SOUL tonight! That is all. If you're in Louisville, Ky save this in your phone as My LockSmith. I'd Stand behind this dudes brand until the end of time. +1 502-618-0180 read more

Stopped in to have a smart key programmed for my Nissan Rogue. Price was 1/3 less than the lowest quote I could find. Michael was our locksmith and he was both quick and extremely friendly. I would highly recommend Lock doctor for all your locksmith needs! read more

I took my electric bike to the Lock Doctor to see if they could replace the lock, as I had lost the keys to it. Michael was the tech, and he was awesome! He contacted the maker of the bike and ended up taking apart the battery case to access the lock from the bottom up. He was then able to make replacement keys without having to get a new lock for it. The work was done quickly and Michael and his team were very professional. Most definitely would recommend the Lock Doctor! read more

I've never ever been so thankful for a service in my life, they answered the phone first call, gave me an accurate quote, came same day and put all our worries at ease after getting our car keys stolen. One of the BEST customer service experiences I've ever had. Long story short, my car was stolen and sadly the LMPD weren't able to recover my second key fob from the thief. When I explained my situation the entire team was kind and caring when letting me know my options for giving me peace of mind. The team made sure I was able to have everything fixed (Re-coding a fob, ordering a new secondary fob, replacing the door lock & getting two new key slivers) in NO TIME & for a third of what the dealership quoted me at!! I will tell anyone and everyone if you EVER need a locksmith, visit the team at Lock Doctors. I'm a customer for life (although hopefully I won't need them too often lol) THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH AGAIN!! read more

Absolutely wonderful service. I made a call, they came out the following evening to accommodate my schedule, and only charged a little bit more for after hours. Very transparent over the phone regarding pricing (even though in the end, it cost me a little less than quoted). Scott was very nice and professional, and was in and out relatively quick! I'd give more than five stars if I could. read more

My workplace had a bathroom door that was locked from the inside. We didn't have a key. I was able to remove the door handle and take it to Lock Doctor on a Saturday morning. We now are able to open the door if someone accidentally closes it in the locked position. read more

Can I give more than five stars? I wish! After a major parenting fail, I found myself locked out of my house with my five year old and nine month old baking in the heat this past Saturday. The kicker? My two year old was locked inside!! The double kicker?? We just started potty training and she was inside diaperless! Before calling the police or fire department I figured I'd try to find a locksmith to see how quickly I could get help. Yelp to the rescue...I called them in the order they appeared on the Yelp list. First place- no answer. Second place - number no longer valid. Third place - voicemail full. Fourth place - The Lock Doctor! A nice man answered and plugged in my address to gps and was there within 10 minutes. It took him no more than five minutes to unlock the door. He was pleasant and laughed with me about my situation. He was so kind and did not call Child Services - yay! (That was a joke, guys.) Two year old yelled peek a boo when the door opened () and no potty disasters. I never once felt sketched out or in danger and was relieved not to have to involve emergency response and have my neighbors privy to my parenting mishap!!! These guys are the best! read more

I called Lock Doctor after we were locked out of our house and they answered right away and showed up quickly. I was able to get a price for the service quickly also. I was able to get back into our house shortly after calling and called back to cancel the service. They were very understanding and even though they were just a few minutes away from our house, I wasn't charged any kind of fee. They were very professional and I highly recommend them for any locksmith needs. read more

Absolutely fantastic experience. I needed a new ignition lock on my car. Made the arrangements to meet them at my vehicle via a very nice and accommodating lady over the phone. They got there early (!), asked if they could open the door themselves to get started. New ignition within 1 hour, straightened my car key which was bent courtesy of AAA, and gave me the key they had made to open the door gratis. In addition, there was a small discrepancy between the price I was quoted and the price they wanted to charge me, and they apologized and gave me the cheaper price. Aaaand (this was shortly before the holidays) several days later I got a holiday card from Lock Doctor in the mail which included a coupon for a free Chik-Fil-A sandwich. Who does that?? Totally adorable, and won my heart. read more
