Best service around for all your key/lock needs! Quick and easy and super friendly. Highly recommend! Came in thinking I needed a whole new key fob and left 5 minutes later with a working fob and a new business that will always have my business! read more

That moment when you realize you are going to need the services of a locksmith and your palms sweat and your heart races, that's what we recently experienced. We found ourselves unable to unlock the door from our garage to our kitchen. After trying to become amateur locksmiths with quality education from YouTube videos, we finally threw in the towel. We found this locally-owned company right in our Middletown neighborhood and they had good reviews on Yelp. Within 24 hours a most pleasant gentleman had come to our rescue and removed the rebel lock. He even helped my husband with advice and assistance on installing the new lock, with no increase in the quoted price. The charge was reasonable for lock services in the area and we would not hesitate to use their services again! The business is located on Shelbyville Rd near the Jefferson County Clerk's East Branch Office in Middletown. They offer a plethora of automotive, commercial, and residential locksmith services. They have 24/7 emergency hours and the office is open M-F 9a -6p, Sat. 10a - 2p, and closed on Sunday. read more

I'm surprised I didn't already review A Cheaper Locksmith. For the last 15 years I've recommended this company based on our periodic experiences. However, our last experience wiped all of that goodwill away. I'm only writing this review now because I have the promised items in hand. I truly thought I was not only never going to see the keys we ordered and purchased for two cars but that I wouldn't get my money back either. We needed keys for two cars so that we had security if we lost a key or got locked out. One was for an older Mazda and another for a newer Hyundai. We prepaid and waited for weeks and weeks for their arrival. Our weeks turned into months and even after being told our keys were ready, we walked out multiple times without them - super inconvenient after leaving work or school early to get our cars there (these keys couldn't be picked up without the cars). We asked for our money back at one point and were told that would be done. After waiting two months and checking for credits we had to visit the store again to ask for resolution. Did we get our money back? No. Did we finally get our keys, months and months later. Yes. Will I return? Absolutely never. Terrible customer service. I'll be asking my friends for another recommendation. read more

Highly recommend. Bring your title or registration matching your license. They were friendly and funny. I needed 6 keys cut between two Fords. They were very helpful. They helped me reset my existing programmed keys and program four keys and they manually found the key shape and cut all the four to spec. For my other vehicle they cut two keys to match my existing keys. They were may cheaper than every other quote I got. Compared to others I got six keys for less than the price of one. read more

Great service by Blake and Hutch! Awesome product and speed. Solid pricing as well. I'd highly recommend them!!

My husband went to the store today with my daughter and got our money refunded for the key we never received. The guy working at the counter was not professional. He was on the phone while also talking to them. He said he had been trying to reach us and then asked for the name. Hmmm. I would not recommend this company. read more

Their name is the truth. Cheaper than anyone else in town AND great service. Hutch got our keys made and fobs programmed quickly for over $100 less than the other locksmiths. Would highly recommend. read more

A Cheaper Locksmith went above and beyond to meet my locksmith needs. A Cheaper Locksmith was the only locksmith I was able to locate who would or could create a new key for my motorcycle. For my benefit he also met with me on a Sunday to resolve my issue. I will recommend A cheaper Locksmith to everyone in need of locksmith services! read more

I had a very tricky key to copy (Lowe's and Home Depot both made me wrong keys) and they knew immediately what it was and make me a copy in less than a minute! Very nice and professional! read more

Exceeded expectations. I got there as they opened. They were extremely friendly and had my new key fob and key cut and programmed in 10 minutes!! Best $110 I spent. read more

My friends 2012 Chevy Equinox alarm would go off when he tried to get into his vehicle. We figured we needed to get him a new key fob so after a couple of calls we decided to go to A Cheaper Locksmith on Shelbyville Rd . The young man at the front, Blake was very helpful and patiently talked us through the process of programming the new key, including pointing us to a YouTube video. Everything worked according to the directions he gave us and my friends vehicle was up in running within 45 minutes after getting back to his home. This was a great customer service experience and I will definitely use their services again and refer them to my friends and acquaintances. read more

Waited 4 months for two remotes for my car. Never once did they call and say your remotes are here. Fist time I thought they were in and the said oops! They sent the wrong ones. I had to call and see where my payment stood. Over 200 dollars for shitty service. Still no remotes. Very unbothered how they treat customers. Horrible service read more

So we bought a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder for my sister. We got a great deal on it but there were no keys. The Nissan dealer was of no help (see review of Neil Huffman Nissan) and we ventured into the land of the locksmith. Sexy Beast called about a dozen of them over the course of a week and got few responses and no call backs. One guy kept saying that he *might* be able to get to us the next day but he wouldn't commit. Many of these places listed themselves as 24 hour emergency lock out specialists. So, I took over. I started at the top of the alphabetical list and was prepared to call every locksmith in the area. The third one I called answered immediately. Jay told me that he could be at my location in a few hours. He had a job that he was working on at that time. It would take him about an hour to complete. He promised to call when he was on the way. And, he did. He called promptly about an hour later, got directions, and made sure that we could stay in contact should he get lost (which he did because I live in the middle of nowhere). I met him at the car and he went right to work. He made a single key on the spot. It took about 30 or 40 minutes and cost $75. In the event that I ever get locked out or lose my keys, I know who to call. Thanks Jay! read more

Great place! Very professional and knowledgeable. Was in and out in 15 minutes with two totally functioning key fobs . One was a spare I only used once to manually unlock the door when I locked my main set in the car. It never worked so I just assumed it just needed a battery. Turns out it was never programmed to work with my car. David immediately recognized the problem and had it fixed in minutes! You couldn't ask for better service or better prices. NEVER go to the dealership for keys - go to A Cheaper Locksmith! read more

Trying to get a spare key made for our car. Dealer wanted $$$$, car is too new for those KeyMe vending machines (key required programming to the vehicle). A Cheaper Locksmith had OEM keys that could be cut and programmed for about half the cost of the dealer. I ended up getting my own key (uncut and Unprogrammed) from online and took it in. Took about 15min and key works flawlessly. read more

Excellent service! Stickler to detail... makes sure the key works before they let you leave.

I was in much need of a new key replacement for my car. So the search was on, I looked on google and yelp. The first locksmith I called quoted me for $125. I didn't want to pay that much so I kept the hunting. A Cheaper Locksmith was 3rd in line so I decided to give them a call. They quoted me $55 for a key replacement that a $70 savings!!! Thankfully I only work 5mins away in Middletown so I headed over and within minutes I had a brand new key. What a savings plus the locksmith was friendly and assured me that I would never have to worry about a car key replacement again! If your any need or a locksmith is this by far the best place to go. read more

I highly recommend this company. I thought my Andersen storm door lock was broken. I could't unlock it. It was easy to reach a person to assist me and Blake came out same day. I had a brand new key made for my 2011 Honda Accord. I called 4-5 different locksmiths, and A Cheaper Locksmith had one of the lowest prices in town. In addition the tech/partner David knocked $40 off the total amount due. He also reminded me that I could report this incident to AAA and they would partially reimburse me. As it relates to the services industry, probably some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. There was a very kind woman who answered the phone and reported my issue to the technicians. The partner/tech, David, was very friendly when he arrived and throughout the repair. read more

first time had a great experience tried to call to get them out to get me in my car. called before 9 and was told to call back after 9:30 to see if can be fitted in. called back and was told no one was available. how can you be a locksmith and not be able to do a service run to unlock a car? read more

I give two big thumbs up to David and A Cheaper Locksmith. We here at Schiller have a used David for lock repair and keying service as well as have my family. He is prompt, experienced and has very fair pricing. I highly recommend A Cheaper Locksmith....and I can say that proudly while "technically" offering competing services. Give them a call. read more

So had four keys cut and programmed for two difficult vehicles. Had contacted two other so called locksmiths and they would not even talk about it unless I bought their overpriced keys. These guys said no problem, were quick, efficient, well priced and a pleasure to deal with. They are a mom and pop store not your big box store who doesn't care if they serve you or not. Will say they are sometimes a little slow to answer the phone but that's because they are busy and you will talk to a real person not a computer that takes you five minutes to have an actual person answer. Just be patient let it ring they will answer as soon as they can. Would give them ten stars if I could. Would highly recommend them for any of your locksmith needs. Thanks guys for a job well done. read more

We were locked out of the car in tiny Milltown, IN, an hour away from home with our car keys at the bottom of a river (long story) and no spare key, and our cell phones and wallets were all locked in the car. The sun was beginning to go down and we feared having to sleep outside and fall prey to the neighborhood dogs. The super nice lady at the canoe rental nearby let us borrow their landline so that we could make SOS calls AAA, local locksmiths and Mazda dealerships. Apparently Mazdas are especially hard to make keys for - can't just use any old key blank because the keys are computerized - not even the dealership in Louisville carried blanks. We only had $25 between the four of us, which wasn't enough for a cab ride home, so we bought a 6 pack of beer to drink our sorrows away while we waited for a lifeline. Long story short, after the guy at AAA spent hours contacting lots of locksmiths who couldn't work on a Mazda, he finally found David at A Cheaper Locksmith, who magically got into the car without a key, turned the alarm off, and cut and programmed us a new key (and a spare!) in only 30 minutes. It was an emotional moment when the engine rumbled to life. Big thanks to David for the impressive work and great attitude, the good people of Milltown Indiana who let us borrow their phones, and the neighborhood dogs who decided that we were not worth the effort. read more
