Last week I called Cook Locksmith and asked a very specific question" How much does it cost to program a key fob for 2015 Hyundai Azera? He asked if I needed the fob or do I have one. I told him I have a fob that has never been programmed. He gave me a price of $40.00. I drove to their shop and and after waiting 15 minutes for someone to talk to me, he proceeded to tell me it was $90.00 to program the fob and another $20.00 to cut the Key. I told him I did not need the key cut and that I had called and was given a price of $40.00. He said that was a different service and does no apply to the fob I have. If there are different services for different fobs, should he have known that when I identified my car in the phone call? I have used Cooks ay least 4 or 5 times over the years for different cars or locks, but I came away very disappointed. read more

I broke a key in the lock of my front door while trying to unlock it so I could not get inside. I had the key for the deadbolt but that wasn't going to help until I got the handle lock fixed. I made a few calls to locksmiths and was told I would receive a call back to give me an idea of how much it would cost to come out and remedy my situation. Guy that answered the phone was rude. Insisted on asking first what does AAA pay before telling me his charge which means he was altering the price. You should know your fees before asking what discount AAA gives. Also he was only making a key without a remote and had the gall to say $450 minus the $100 AAA would cover. We have an old house in the highlands. I believe the front door to the house is the original one. It has a beautiful weathered brass handle & decor on the front along with a mail slot. After approx 70 years, the door handle gave up. Cook's was recommended to us when we moved into a new home. The great customer service was apparent from the first phone call. I was able to get a quote and schedule an appointment quickly. Has your son lost that key fob yet again??? Has the husband dropped the keys and then mowed right over them? Perhaps your sweet little Toto has chewed up yet another key fob! This is the place! I have replaced too many key fobs since my son became a driver. Fast service! Excellent service, and they very quickly were able to tell me if they could replace my fob, held it for me and then when I arrived I had a key cut and the fob programmed and BOOM, I was able to remote start my caddy again! I went to Cook's to see how much a new fob will cost for my Toyota. Travis was the sales rep that waited on me when I got there.I informed Travis that I was told I needed a new fob according to a "Batteries " establishment. I visited the Jeffersonville store for the first and second time today and was very happy with the service and prices. First I got a spare key for my daughters 2000 Toyota Solara for a little more than $3 then I came back and got a couple different house keys made, 2 each for less than a couple dollars each. I called their after hours number (it's a Saturday), when the voice message picked up, I hung up the phone. Simple as that. Someone told me of a better service to call, and I'm glad I hung up on the voice message. 10 minutes later I receive a text message from the Cooks after hour number being passive aggressive saying they appreciated how disrespectful I was. Completely unprofessional. I wasn't disrespectful at all- I called and chose not to leave a message. I called another locksmith who answered the phone, is on the way, and it's childish sending rude texts to potential customers. I would never use or recommend Cooks services. Don't call this place. They are over priced and get smart over the phone. I tried to get a key cut for a 2001 Ford Taurus and I received 2 other quotes at $130 - $140. Went in to get 2 keys I bought on eBay cut for my car. They cut them, and programmed them to operate the door locks for me. They did state upfront some extra charges as a disclaimer that they could charge me for, if they started to have problems programming the keys. It did upset me a bit as I thought they were a little extreme in cost if they charged them to me, I probably wouldn't have used them. And they stated upfront that they had no obligations if the keys didn't work, because they weren't bought from them. I understand their position, but didn't need it rubbed in my face that hard, right off the bat! ...but in the end, they didn't need to charge the extra fees, and I have 2 new working keys. Very happy with how it ended up, and it was fast to get in and out. read more
