This place is one of the few spots in the area that has a private parking lot. There is also metered street parking available that you have to use an app to pay. They have friendly staff, a museum, gift shop and active gun ranges. I did not feel like throwing any lead down range, but they do offer memberships and the opportunity to shoot some serious steel like a dessert eagle, and many machine guns like the AK-47. I walked through the museum. It is free to look at. It is a small space but they have a very large collection of guns. They have weapons used in the military and the narco wars and features people like Pablo Escobar, Griselda Blanco, and Manuel Noriega. The weapons are awesome and they have pistols, machine guns, shot guns, mortars, RPGs, and ammunition inspired art. There is even a helicopter hanging from the ceiling. The gift shop is small and has tshirts, hats, and other trinkets. This is a top quality range and the staff there is professional and friendly. Many stars have come there to shoot like Kevin Hart, and Lebron James. If you are looking to shoot your personal arsenal or give some of their exotic weapons a whirl, this is the place for you. Friendly staff, and the best part is the ability to fire automatic rifles and SMG's. Here's the problem. They charge an arm and a leg for ammunition. Not only that, there's even a sign that says ammos purchased from another place is dangerous. Really??? Oh and the wait time is several hours (at least when I went). This is one of the coolest places to visit if you are from out of town and like guns. Once you order at the gun counter they have an entire room designed to the evolution of warfare. It was a great experience for my guests and it was definitely the highlight of their day. Absolutely friendly place that follows security and safety protocols and very professional. Decided to go here to celebrate a birthday and it was a perfect gift for a guy. He loved the experience and the ability to shoot different machine guns. We went on a Friday night, the place wasn't crowded at all. There was plenty of places to park in their lot. We had to wait about ten minutes to be taken into the shooting area. While waiting we was able to explore the museum and look at the different guns you can use. Our instructor was very friendly and explained everything well. He provided instructions on what was going to happen, how to use the gun, the type of guns in our package, and safety rules. We were provided eye protection and headphones that had connecting mics to hear the talking. I was provided ear plugs as well because my headphones wasn't suctioning to my ears. I wasn't going to be shooting any guns but was able to enter to watch within the range. I was able to record and take pictures. Our instructor also gave great tips for recording, like for certain guns he advised to record in slow motion. Which created an amazing video. It was a really great experience and my guy was really happy with this birthday surprise. read more

We had a really great experience here at Lock and Load from the moment we walked in, to the moment we left, this place was so much fun. I had received a gift certificate to give this place a try and it was great. I made a reservation online which they say doesn't guarantee you a spot but does give you priority over walk-ins. I made the reservation for 11:30am on Sunday figuring that it wouldn't be very busy any way. When we arrived we were greeted immediately by the friendly staff at the front desk. I had a reservation but decided to bring my wife with me for the experience (she did get me the gift certificate after all). Jenny helped us to choose which of the packages we wanted to do that day or explained how we could create our own custom package if we wanted to. I selected the US Special Forces package for myself and the Express package for my wife. Once we were checked in, they just asked us to wait for a few minutes while they prepped the packages for us and invited us to look around their museum or to look over their wall of replicas that we could take off the wall if we wanted to get an idea of what we would be using that day. After a short wait, our instructor Chris called us up and took us into their prep room to provide us their safety instructions and explain how the experience would work. After the quick explanation he provided us with our ear and eye protection and lead us out to the range. Chris brought out each weapon one at a time for us and provided us with some of the background of each weapon as well as instruction of how to operate each one. I actually really appreciated knowing the information about the weapons because that's just the nerd in me that likes to know the history and tech specs of everything. Chris then walked us through loading and taking each weapon off safety and having the real fun which was being able to actual fire various fully automatic weapons in an extremely safe and controlled environment. Once we were done going through all the firearms in our packages, Chris rolled up our targets for us and walked us back to the prep room to send us off. Once we were done, we walked around their museum to look at the displays of all the other firearms they have their. The environment is incredibly fun and easygoing, while still maintaining safety and control. Chris was really great about answering our questions and making sure that we were able to enjoy this unique shooting experience. This was probably the most fun I have ever had at a gun range and really hope that I get to go back again soon and try some of the other packages out. read more

Ok I'm from Chicago. Despite stereotypes and assumptions, I had never been around guns in person and definitely have never held a gun before! I figure while in Miami to just go full out and give it a try! I got the Express package and added on the handgun. The quick introduction was very succinct and straightforward. Then, it was off to shooting the target! I was very nervous and I'm sure my hands were shaking the entire time, but my instructor was great and gave me enough encouragement to feel good throughout the entire experience! Shooting a gun is wild, and shooting machine guns is even wilder! I definitely left with a greater respect for firearms and the power/responsibility that comes with it. Might even visit a range or two here at home! Oh and never change your panda logo, I love it! Don't forget to check out the free museum before or after your experience. THIS PLACE IS THE BOMB!!! I can't believe I am the first to review this spot! This was a treasure of a venue I just happened to walk by while I was doing some food exploration of the Wynwood area of Miami during my last day. I was on my way to get some donuts when I saw "free museum" and "automatic weapons" painted on the outside of the building that faced the street. This place is a dual threat of a venue. It is a free museum where you can see and learn about weapons and ordinance used in past wars. There are dozens of hand guns, rifles, and submachine guns on display. The cool part is there are two walls of actual weapons that you can literally pick up and remove and hold to examine. These are actual weapons (they are secured and cannot be fired) used by military and police around the world. There is even a 50-caliber rifle!!! The museum is not too large but there is plenty to look at. The other fun part of the museum is the weapons you can shoot. There is a literal menu of guns you can select from. Packages of weapons are also available which are grouped by country usually and represent the rifles and submachine guns used by that particular nation. Note, that this part is not exactly cheap -- the packages usually run around $200 for around 4 weapons to shoot and include 25 rounds per weapon. Individual guns are available "a la carte" and start around $70 and include 25 rounds. With the exception of certain sniper rifles, these are all full-auto capable weapons that you can shoot in the firing range. I chose the US special forces package for $220 ($239 with tax). This included an H&K MP5, Brugger & Thomet APC9, HK 416 assault rifle (used by Delta Force), and the mighty FN Herstal SAW M249 belt-fed rifle so often seen in all those FPS video games. I never fired a gun before so telling others it was an automatic weapon is cool. An instructor came in and gave me the low down on how to stand before I gathered my hearing and eye protection and we proceeded into the firing range. He gave me a low down on each gun before I fired. How to load the clip, disengaging the safety were shown before the magazine was removed and I was allowed to do the whole process myself before firing the weapon. This place is great. There is definitely a lot to see and if want to shell out then you can shoot too. The shooting portion is REALLY fun. It's short-lived, and pricey fun, but it creates a memorable experience. I would definitely come back here and would suggest that anyone that wants something unique from the basicness that is Miami should also pay a visit as well. If you are around, then stop by for sure. There are even individual bathrooms to use if you need to relieve yourself while indulging your inner child. read more

Boy was this fun! I dropped one star because I felt it was a little pricey. But in terms of an experience, they delivered. Our range master was Will. He was great. He gave us some background on each of the weapons, and shared some of his personal experience. His approach was also appreciated. He demonstrated each weapon and then turned it over. He didn't hover, but made sure we were doing it right. I thought I had the magazine seated in the AK, but he had me do it again. Subtle difference in angle, but it clicked home better. There is a go-pro front view available, but I already felt like it was expensive so passed. We were able to get some good video of each other on our phones. Tip: bring some cash to tip. read more

This place is located next to fireman Derek's pie shop which is great because once you're finished with your dessert you can easily go over to this museum and it's free. I have to say I really liked coming in here they have a really cool selection of guns from different periods of time. TL;DR: Super fun, worth splurging on, friendly and professional gun specialist, AK-47 is my least favorite, loved the shotgun. While chilling on the beach in South Beach, we saw a plane banner flying across with this advertisement. My friend immediately wanted to do this so we booked a date to come here. All of the guns that they had available at their facility to fire are all illegal to possess in NY, so this was quite the treat. The packages will seem super expensive, with the cheapest package going for $145 not including tax, but it is soo worth the experience and a ton of fun. We each got the Eastern Bloc package, which consisted of HK MP5 (25 rounds), Steyr AUG (25 rounds), AK-47 (25 rounds), and Pump Action Shotgun (10 rounds). We both never fired machine guns and I have never fired any sort of gun, but Max, our firearm specialist, made us feel super comfortable and walked us through every step of the process. The experience lasted about 30 minutes, and I was sweating afterwards. Max started us out with the gun with the least recoil, which was the HK MP5, and worked us all the way up to the shotgun. Going into this, I was most interested in firing the AK-47, I guess from the reputation is garnished in video games. This turned out to be my least favorite gun as the recoil was insane, hard to control when firing in automatic, hence also hard to aim, and I ended up with a bruise on my chest. The HK MP5 and Steyr AUG both had laser pointers to aim and were pretty easy to fire. The most satisfying was the pump action shotgun. Easy to control as you have to pump the gun after every shot fired. The recoil isn't that bad as people make it out to be. read more

Found out about Lock & Load Miami while searching for a gun range & thought it would be the perfect spot to take my hubby for his birthday - It was! Stopped in today & it was definitely an unforgettable experience. When you walk in first off this place is spotless. Super clean. When you walk in to your right is the main desk & to your left is the museum. The museum is divided so you can see a little Miami history including the Cocaine Cowboys & such. You also see the guns broken down by era, as well as packages that they offer. They have merchandise as well. I got my hubby The Boss ( El Jefe ) package & the instructor was so nice he even threw in an extra gun for his birthday. Our instructor Kevin was great. Before going in to the range he did the whole safety part, gave us the equipment & as we went into the range he explained everything thoroughly as he brought each gun out. He gave some history on each gun & made it interesting. You can't share packages, so I just got the package for my hubby, but I had a blast watching & taking pics. The prices vary for package so I would check out the website for what you like best. They do some added perks for certain packages & let you keep some memorabilia of your trip. As I sat with my brother, skimming TripAdvisor, I pointed out that a gun range was the second highest-rated thing to do in Miami. I was noting this jokingly, but my brother immediately said, "I'd do that!" So we did. Lock and Load is basically brand new. They opened in September of 2013. Everything is super-shiny. And they have a helicopter hanging from the ceiling inside. Why not? I'd never used a gun before, so I was a little nervous. But Mike, the manager (and a former cop), gave us solid instruction. You practice your stance with a plastic rifle... and Mike stood right next to us to help with every step of the process. For $125, we did the Basic Training package. We shot the following... * IMI UZI * Glock 18 Submachine Gun * Colt M4 Commando Each gun came with 25 rounds for our shooting pleasure. The Uzi was surprisingly heavy, and had an old-school sight. So you line up a pair of metal pins and that's how you shoot. The Glock was our favorite. I always thought of a Glock as a pistol, but this one can go fully automatic, and they've put it in a casing so you can butt it against your shoulder for more stability. Mike told us the Glock was so fast, if we just held down the trigger, it would fire off all 25 rounds before any of the shells hit the ground. Holy ****! The Glock also looks like a super cool badass future weapon. It also has a holographic sight, so you can aim with both eyes open The Colt has the same sight as the Glock, but it's heavier and has a longer barrel. It's the one that most looks like the average "machine gun" you see in the movies. Mike says SWAT teams train with that one. Considering I was a total novice, I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed my time at Lock & Load. It also scared the hell out of me that weapons like this exist, floating around the streets and destroying elementary schools. I imagine if you're pro-NRA, this is like Disneyland. If you're anti-NRA (like me), this gives you a greater appreciation for the destruction these weapons can bring. The only reason I bump off a star is that Lock & Load is *crazy* expensive. $125 for maybe five minutes of actual shooting time? Yeesh. But I suppose you can squeeze the trigger less frequently to extend your stay by a few seconds. read more

First I would like to say that this is a very nice facility. The staff upon entry is very friendly and helpful in choosing a package. I only have two issues with this place. First, you can't shoot your own weapon there unless you pay up to $700 a year for a membership. If your visiting from out of the area the expense makes it's a no go. Second you have to rent at least 3 rifles to shoot in the gun range. That's a cost of about $180 to start, ridiculous. Our range master Matt was excellent. My buddy who had never shot these kind of rifles before had a blast. Matt was helpful and transfered a great deal of knowledge. We always felt safe and informed. Matt is also a soldier and we appreciate his service greatly. A very cool experience. read more

I live in NYC. This was my first time in Miami. Gun laws in NYC are super restrictive so I was excited to be in a city where I can shoot something fun. Lock and Load was the best part of my Miami trip! The staff was friendly and professional. There is a huge selection of guns to choose from, which can be done a la carte style or by packages. Pretty cool museum, worth the admission fee. Most of the firearms aren't particularly rare but they do have like a dozen HK P7s on display, for some reason. My partner has been excited about checking this place out ever since we drove past it on our way to the airport the last time we were in Miami. We were so happy we didn't miss out this time. All the women working the registers were super helpful and friendly, explaining all the packages to us beforehand. The replica wall will help you determine which guns are best for you. They have a really sweet gun exhibit/museum on display right now, too. The packages are a little pricey, with the cheapest around $175 for one person, but there aren't many places in the world where you can shoot these types of guns. We went with the Euro package, which included 25 rounds with the AK-47. From beginning to end, Fabian was so helpful and made sure we felt comfortable throughout the whole process. He gave us a brief overview of each gun before shooting, which was really cool. If you're worried about the noise level, don't be! They have amazing noise cancelling earbuds and it was a lot less scary than most normal gun ranges I've been too. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we can't wait to come back! read more

This is a nice place. Massive selection of weapons, friendly staff, knowledgeable instructors. Yes, the prices are higher than average, but the location, overall setting and again, the second-to-none assortment of weapons all provide adequate justification. Why the three stars then? Well - even well oiled machines suffer from issues from time to time. Maybe we caught them on a bad day, but the experience was less than stellar, even given all the nice attributes above. TL;DR: Staff at venue promise flexibility in weapon selection; manager subsequently refuses to add weapons to the list because it's late and there are too many walk-ins. No warning given about this being a possibility, although multiple opportunities for such warning were available. Longread: I made an advance (they call it priority) booking for 4 people. I spoke to a very helpful associate on the phone. We showed up a few minutes late, but they accommodated us without any problems. Our total came to $1400+, which, while being maybe only a little above the per person average for this particular venue, is not a small amount of money for 60-80 minutes of shooting entertainment. We were there at the end of the day. They close at 8, we were there around 6:20. All along, we were told, on the phone the day before and in person while signing forms and then by the instructor as we walked into the range, that if we wanted to add weapons or rounds, we could do it whenever we wanted. We had no problem adding some more rounds to the second weapon. However, when my mother - we were celebrating my parents' wedding anniversary - requested to shoot something small and low recoil, we were told that there were too many walk-ins and we couldn't add anything else anymore. When, at the behest of the instructor, I approached the manager about it, I received a stern, military-style "negative." He said something about too many people coming in, but it wasn't in any way apologetic or conciliatory. A Walther PPK was hanging on the wall directly behind our lanes. It's hard to imagine an easier way to avoid this situation by adding a few rounds so that my mom could shoot something small and comfortable. It was pretty close to 8pm at this point, so I don't think it was about turning the lanes over, which leaves what, putting us in our place? I don't know. The venue would have made a bit more money, our instructor would have received a much larger tip, I would have left a glowing review. Well, instead of an essentially perfect experience (and rating), we were left feeling, to quote the manager - "negative." Customer service is about managing expectations. It would have been trivially simple to warn us about this possibility when we were making the original booking or when we were signing the liability releases or during the safety briefing, or or or... my point is that there were MANY points where disappointment could have been avoided, because we would have considered our weapon list more carefully as well as would have been mentally prepared for a denial. Some sort of a last call time for additional rounds/weapons maybe? They'll be proud to tell you that they've been open for a long time. In all that time, could you have possibly learned of such situations arising? Bottom line: if you go, make sure you select your weapons before you start shooting, otherwise you may be in for a similar disappointment. read more

On a rainy day in Miami during our vacation we decided to try something new. I have always wanted to shoot a machine gun so when Lock and Loaded came up on a list of top 10 things to do in Miami we headed that way. Absolutely couldn't wait! We own and enjoy guns, have concealed carry permits and spend a fair amount of time shooting. In the Uber I was researching the place and it was almost exclusively pictures and video of women shooting machine guns. My first thought was, Wow this is a female friendly range. Oh how wrong I was. This is a range for men and only men. Women- they are not catering to you and they are not doing anything to invite you in. Employees are young attractive females in tight t-shirts and their guns are unusable by small women unless you are willing to risk arm and shoulder pain. There is nothing wrong with being a place strictly for men, but your advertising needs to make that clear. A big "women are not welcome here" sign would be great. I love young attractive women as much as anyone else (heck, I even used to BE one ) and I've taken my husband to more than one strip club. There's nothing at all wrong with appreciating the female form but dang, let me know that's what the deal is, don't make me think you have a female-friendly business model when you don't. The packages are ridiculously overpriced, if you want range time with just a handgun you will literally pay $10/round. That is $10 dollars for each bullet. I have been going to ranges for sometime now and never have I ever seen such outrageous prices. They will charge u $30 to use a Go-Pro to film your 5 minutes too! My husband bought a $200 shooting experience, he literally shot the machine gun for less than 10 minutes. $200 for under 10 minutes of shooting. They did not even have a gun that was suitable for a small female. They have a children's package, I'm not sure what guns they are giving to the eight-year-olds to shoot, but there was nothing smaller or mounted available that would have been appropriate for my 5 foot tall, 100 pounds self, please don't take your kids to shoot these large guns. Just because a range says they can doesn't mean they should. If there's not a gun suitable for me there then there's not one suitable for your 8 year old. Stay at home women, let the men enjoy this one. The guns are huge and fun but you should never, ever forget that they are deadly weapons in the wrong hands. You can take the $500 you save and join your local gun range for an entire year of shooting. read more

So my first time shooting a gun. I loved it! We def made sure to visit Lock and Load on our trip from NYC. The staff was incredibly nice. Our instructor Brian was the best! Ask for him when going for some action. Located in Wynwood not to far from SoBe, a twenty minute drive. This place is a must! Now it's an easy $130ish per person for the basic package. Lock and Load Miami Machine Gun Experience & Range - Gun/Rifle Ranges Near Me - Miami, Florida

I'm deducting a star from what I'd normally give Lock and Load because this place obviously has a few fake reviews posted, but I'm not sure why they bothered, because they don't need to resort to that...This place is so much awesome that word will get out on its own and this business will be successful! I'm not a big gun person, but one of my friends enjoys going to the range occasionally when he comes to town and it is a different way to spend an evening. I happened to see this place mentioned on Yelp a few months ago and thought my buddy might enjoy it when he came back for a visit. I was right! At Lock and Load, you can fire some vintage machine guns and several fully automatic weapons, in addition to the standard hand guns and rifles one might find at nearly any gun range. We called ahead to schedule a time, but really didn't need to, because when we arrived at around 6 p.m. on this Tuesday night, there was basically us, 2 instructors and 2 ladies who were there to explain the different packages that were available and get people signed in. We looked at the weapons and packages available, and I chose the "Basic Training Package" which consisted of an Uzi, a Glock 18, and a Colt M4 Commando, all fully automatic, all with 25 rounds of ammo each. My friend selected 3 vintage machine guns he wanted to fire from the ala carte offerings. Once we signed our lives away and paid (it was $134 including tax for the package I'd selected, my friend paid a bit more), they invited us to have a seat in the large waiting area while they loaded our clips, they invited us to have a complimentary bottle of water, and take as many replica guns off the wall as we wished to for a photo op (most ranges won't allow photography of any kind once inside their buildings...This place encourages patrons to take as many photos as they wish with the weapons on display). After about 5 minutes, our instructor, Albert, invited us to join him to get a bit of instruction. He explained a bit about his background and qualifications, he handed us a blue plastic model gun and showed us how to stand and hold it to reduce the chances of it kicking up. He then got us outfitted with safety glasses and ear protection. Note that glasses and hearing protection were free here, vs. some other ranges where you need to pay extra for them. Also, for hearing protection they offered noise cancelling headphones which cancel out much of the gun noise, but still allow you to hear people clearly when they're speaking. Once the instruction was complete, Albert took us inside the range area, gave each of us a lane where our targets were already hanging, he loaded the clips into the weapons we'd chosen, explained a bit about the weapons, design and type of ammo, and allowed us to shoot either in single shot, semi-auto, or fully automatic mode. He also allowed me and my buddy to shoot each other's guns so we both could try everything that each of us had rented. After we'd both spent our ammo, Albert guided us back to the orientation area where we returned our glasses and hearing protection, he gave us the targets we'd shot up, and applied stickers to each of our targets that showed which weapons we'd used. He also gave us each a very nice solid metal "challenge coin" as a momento of our visit. I can't say enough positive things about this place. While it's not necessarily a cheap evening out, Lock and Load offers a very unique experience shooting weapons that are normally only accessible to law enforcement and military. The instructors are all either current or former law enforcement, they're patient, professional and take what they do very seriously.
