The Chinese instructor that works HAS A VERY VERY NASTY ATTITUDE he does not know how to speak to people at all he gives you sarcastic answers when asking for help or just anything in general. After reading many 5 star reviews some friends and I made the hour and 30 minute track out to Miami, and it was absolutely worth it! Henry was extremely kind of helpful but not overbearing at all! We were allowed to shoot anything asides from glass, and we decided to bring watermelons, soda cans and liters as well as a stuffed animal! If you're looking for a fun and safe range I highly highly recommend this place! We will definitely be returning! Henry the goat. read more

I was down visiting property in Florida City and decided to hit up a range with a buddy, this was the nearest one we came across. It was really out there, the dirt road was bumpy for my little Mercedes, but we made it. It's right beside a huge flower nursery. Feels like the Wild West out there, lots of gun fire. The range master Eric was very polite and helpful. I didn't have eye protection but he lent me some glasses. All in all a super fun experience. I will definitely return soon. read more

It is not a range for a beginner to go alone. If you are a beginner going for a first time down there go with someone with some sort of range experience. If you have broken the 200 rounds mark you are going to love it. Safety first as always. They will prioritize that without bothering you every 5 minutes looking over your shoulder expecting you to do something wrong. No restrictions about how many discharges per second you can perform and no going cold every 10 minutes to change targets. It is not for long distance practice but it is a lot of fun. I have visited several ranges in South Florida and I tell you that Henry's Range is the best one so far. read more

I try from Big Pine Key in the Keys just to shoot here because: 1. The price is right (20 bucks for three hours? That just does not exist where I come from.) No pressure to get your shooting done and to leave. I suppose if you needed more than 3 hours, they wouldn't care. 2. It's outside, and open style range type. I'm not cramped up in a little stall. 3. There is someone there (Eric), but no one is up your ass acting Fudd. It appears like Eric isn't always looking at everyone, but do something unsafe or break the rules, he seems to be on it right away, leaving you wondering, where the hell did he pop out from. Eric is very helpful and he always has a trick up his sleeve if your gun has a problem. I have learned a thing or two from him each time I have been there. He is also very nice and patient. 4. Speaking of Fudd. AK, AR, legal full auto, rapid fire, exploding targets-all ok. They leave the Fudd to the other ranges I've been. That being said, I'd bring your own IFAK--you are a long ways from nowhere with a bumpy slow road for an ambulance to get there if an accident happened. Remember, you are your own First Responder. The Downsides( or what I might call what to watch out for). 1. You should have a truck or SUV to make it out there. Road is bumpy and muddy. Your vehicle will be dirty. 2. This is not the place to go if you are a first time shooter or a non shooter. As someone else stated, this is not the place I would bring a kid. You are going to hear rapid fire, explosions, and you are going to get hit by many ejecting shell casings when you are up on the line. (bring your own eye and hearing protection). It is very easy to feel like you are in a fire fight on a battlefield when standing up on the line and everyone is shooting at once, esp. if there are a lot of shooters and a few have compensators on the end of their guns. You're gonna "feel" the concussion from multiple angles, at mutilple rates of fire and a new shooter might find this disconcerting. 3. Bathroom situation sucks. Be prepared to piss in the weeds. Works for me, but might not work with the ladies. 4. Bring everything you need. You will need bug spray. Prolly also need some suncreen. Bring your own refreshments. I mean bottled water too. Obviously, bring your guns (there's no rentals), and bring all your own ammo. They might have a target for you, but don't count on it. I always bring my own. Bring shoes that you won't mind getting muddy. That place can get very muddy. 5. Bring cash. $20/person. They don't take credit cards. 6. It's an eclectic crowd. All demographics on site and accepted. Everyone I have met there is nice/friendly. Most are willing to help you. That being said, one group I have seen there which I don't care for is, there are always a couple of people drinking there. In such cases, when those people are shooting on the line, I just stay back at my table until they are done. Just my belief-alcohol and guns just don't mix. You are going to have fun here. read more

It's been a while since I've been, they now have a range personnel keeping everyone safe. Making sure no one is up to any shenanigans. Good price per person to shoot, bring your own water, snacks, ammo and firearms. Sunscreen and bug spray. It can get a little packed on the weekends so there might be some wait time but if your friendly enough some people might make some room for you. Weekdays is when it's the least people. Henry's Shooting Range - Gun/Rifle Ranges Near Me - Homestead, Florida

Henry's is great, but only if you are someone who is comfortable and somewhat experienced with firearms. It's a spartan outdoor facility in the middle of nowhere, South Florida, and that's part of the reason you can do things there that normal indoor and even most outdoor ranges aren't setup for. For example, your average indoor range isn't too keen on rapid fire, and looks askance at (legal) full-auto. If you show up to an indoor range with a legal machine gun, you'll probably have the staff watching you like a a hawk. It's understandable though - the staff at a lot of indoor ranges deals with a lot amateurs, and they aren't mind readers, so they gotta be strict. Which is fine, it's their business, their rules. Kinda nice how that works. Private property rights - it's a thing. Anyways, while Henry and his staff police the range effectively, they will leave you alone if you prove you can handle whatever firearms you are bringing that day safely. While there's no test per se, they will watch you until they get comfortable that you aren't gonna be a problem child. Remember that Henry's is private property and they'll ask you to leave if you act the fool. Also, unlike most ranges, Henry's staff will give you impromptu advice while shooting. For example, one time I went, and I was shooting a suppressed (silencer - moderator - muffler - whatever!) pistol, and since it didn't have the proper sights on it, I was missing the target - one of the range staff was nice enough to teach me some tricks for dealing with such a setup. I was doing dead bullseyes 30 seconds later. Ding! Another cool thing is that you can ask the staff and with the cooperation of the other guests, ask for the firing line to be moved back and forth depending on what you want to do. If you want to shoot from the tables, all you gotta do is ask the other guests and then ask one of the staff - they'll adjust things for you. And yes, if you want, the staff will mix up an exploding target (for a fee) and provide a precision rifle so you can make something go boom. You should do it. Unlike most ranges though, Henry's doesn't provide targets, ammo, or much of anything in terms of amenities. That being said, sometimes someone brings a cooler full of water and everyone can share. Quick way to make friends - bring stuff for everyone. Oh, it's off the beaten path so you should probably have an SUV or truck. There's also private bays where classes are taught, where skills like shooting on the move, and so forth, can be learned. The classes are usually booked ahead of time via private instructors so you'd probably have to quiz them during a break to see if you can get in on the next one. In a nutshell, while Henry's is a safe and enjoyable shooting experience for all who attend, it may be a little intimidating to the novice firearms enthusiast, or the idly-curious non-gun person. While it's an "open" business with no real entry requirements other than a love of firearms and the Second Amendment, I'd definitely think for a minute before bringing the novice to Henry's. read more

Henry and Eric are among the nicest most accommodating people I know on the Industry... it's a safe, clean and accommodating place. This is the place to go if you want to see something stupid. You can just about do anything you want there from shooting tracers to drinking alcohol wile shooting and that's a big no no. I gets very muddy there when it rains and the shooting range is not more than 100 feet, there is no regular range officer and I have seen enough misshaped over there but know one taken out in a ambulance yet. There are safer gun clubs and ranges to go to in this area that have short and long range shooting and are a lot safer and more reliable for your safety. But yes you can shoot tannerite at Henry's even though the manufacturer of tannerite say you should be away at least 1,000 feet for safety reasons Henry Allows anyone to shoot at tannerite even though it might be only 100 feet away or closer and Henry doesn't have a range that is 1000 feet away. You also don't know if he will be there or not sometimes he comes and goes. So is it open today who knows until you get there. I don't mind it to bad when I am the only one shooting. But when there is a crowd there waving guns around and drinking beer. I know it's dangerous but it private property and until someone gets badly hurt there is not much any one can do. As a NRA member and a open armed law enforcement officer I do not recommend you to go near there. read more

THIS is the range you wanna be! Prices are great ($20 all day) and staff is friendly! Henry is super cold at first but is a great guy! Eric is an amazing person! I enjoy myself over there and really appreciate a lot shooting here!! Outdoor, simple, no rules except safety, no pain-in-the-ass "range officer" yelling at you for no reason. This is a big boy (or girl) range for sure. Ranges like this allow you to exercise skills that others simply won't tolerate because they are not set up for them. Tactical team exercises and breach strategies as well as rapid fire and urban assault training are perfect here. Those using this facility should be well versed in the safety required during such training and in the handling of loaded weapons. Unsafe? Some might think so, but they should frequent those ranges that are controlled by staff and highly regulated. Everyone should feel safe as they train, that said... those that train here are never really safe working so this training is extremely beneficial. Stay vigilante and stay alive folks... train, train and then train some more. read more

Henry's is a "range" in the loosest sense of the term. Henry's will provide an area to discharge your firearm, plus two private areas for reservations. There is supposedly one for shotguns only, however, I observed pistol work and rifle work there despite being told the contrary when attempting to reserve the lane for private instruction. Aside from that, do not expect much, nor shall you receive much in return. The grounds are littered with trash, mosquitos, and poorly kept access roads. Standing puddles (lakes) of water are abundant and attract all sorts of cholera. There is one port-a-john that has not seen maintenance since 1999. Appalling facility. When attempting to schedule reservations for private lanes, the experience is no less than frustrating. Phone calls are not answered, nor returned whenever you do manage to speak with someone. The conversations are of limited usefulness, as no one is ever sure if the lanes are available or not, and depending on the day, whether or not you can reserve in advance at all. Several times I have been told "we don't do reservations, just show up." Conflicting information is the status quo at Henry's. Additionally, you will find homemade explosives being concocted by the "Range Master" regularly to be blown up on the public portion of the range. No barrier is immediately available for cover or safety. Your car is the best option. The positive of Henry's is that they leave you alone, however, this can quickly degrade to the negative as cavalier, or unsafe shooters are left to their own devices. In short, tread with extreme caution, and look elsewhere. The cash only, (surprise surprise) $20 range fee for 3 hours is $19.99 overpriced. read more

The person attending the place is nice, but place itself I found it very unsafe. It's super far from the city, a lot of mosquitos and if you go in the afternoon, be ready because the sun will be facing you. There were a some guys using AK's and other big guns, it's totally outdoor and my wife was scared the whole time. I definitely won't come back, but the 3 stars is because the guy running the place was nice. That must be said. read more
