When it comes to shooting ranges, some prefer indoors while other prefer outdoors. Indoor ranges offer a much more specific style of a controlled environment (minus the bugs) where you can practice your aim in a comfortable setting. Don't know which firearm to use? Ask for assistance and recommendations as the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a variety of packages on ammo depending on the amount of time you want to spend shooting. They take safety very seriously so make sure you listen to the rules beforehand. Shooting the paper target and reeling it in afterwards made me do a double take as I realized my aim was pretty darn good. Its right in the heart of Hialeah and offers a great outlet for all those James Bondish shooting sessions you can shoot away at. If you have earplugs, bring them as the noise is quite loud in there even with the ear covers they offer. read more

So I've been dying to go to a shooting range for the longest time ever!! Part of my future profession involves the passing of a tactical course so I felt that I needed to start practicing asap. I found this range close to my house and felt it would be perfect as a starter range. I went in there about an hour before closing and the guy behind the counter attended us with no problems. We signed our waivers, paid the fees which are $12 per person in the range, plus $1.50 for the target and $1 for the eyewear and ear protectors. My boyfriend brought his own firearm and ammo so we didn't have to pay for that but I believe a pack of 50 bullets is $12.99 and the rent a firearm is $20 so pretty decent pricing. I was warned previously that the first bullet you hear fire will startle you, and that's what happened to me! The shots are super loud but once you get used to it, it almost becomes second nature for the time that you're in there. The guy that let us in was behind us instructing me on how to use the firearm and how to grip it correctly to avoid losing control since the recall on the 9mm that we had was pretty strong, and considering that it was my first time, I was a little rusty. Needless to say, my aim wasn't the greatest but I did shoot at the target a few times (20 out of 60 isn't so bad, is it?!?) haha. Will definitely be back soon to keep practicing!! read more

When we first came In to the shooting range the man behind the counter wasn't attentive.Service was bad. We had to sign a waiver online when we arrived. We rented 3 guns. One jammed after each shot. When I brought it to the counter to switch for another the man the man wanted to charge me an extra $10 to rent another even though the other kept jamming. The. The old guy at the counter was speaking to another behind my back to the other one in Spanish thinking I didn't understand what they were talking about. Saying I was carrying around guns in the shooting area when all I wanted to do is exchange the jammed gun they gave me. I also think the fact we weren't Latin was part of his unfriendly behavior. The shooting area floor was full of empty cartridges that weren't cleaned and I'm surprised no one has ever slipped there. They took my husband and my licenses which is normal but every time I wanted something else they needed me to pay immediately which was a pain in the ass. read more

Great place to shoot and excellent customer service. Range fee is only ten bucks and you can shoot your own ammo. They have 10 lanes with decent targets. Nice and clean indoor shooting range, but freakin doggone hot to shoot in during the summer. Poor ventilation, no insulation = sweaty hands when holding gun, standing in front of AC when not shooting. Hands down the most uncomfortable indoor shooting experience due to heat & humidity. Showed up an hour after opening on Saturday and the lanes were less than half full. We had a group of 4 so we were there a good 3+ hours and saw plenty of people coming and going. All lanes were full at one point so not sure if anyone was waiting. Would return, but not in the summer months. read more

This particular gun range is okay, but not the best. They have plenty of gear, ammo and quality firearms for sale. They also hold weapons training classes for law enforcement, armed security and those looking to get their concealed carry licenses. Unfortunately, I found too many cons than pros to this facility. The parking lot isn't the best at all. It's narrow and one-way in and out only. If the parking lot is full, which can park maybe 15 cars, good luck making that 3-point turn to get out. You're better off parking on the grass across the street. Inside the gun range, the ventilation is poor, especially during the summer months. The A/C units just don't do enough to cool the place down. For every magazine I shot, I had to stop and walk over to the vents to wipe the sweat from my face and cool down. Just too humid and made it somewhat miserable to shoot. Definitely need to find a better way to reduce the humidity inside the firing line. Lastly, safety. Lots of novice shooters who need to be supervised by the staff here instead of just one guy behind the counter. They come in, rent gear and guns, then think it's showtime having their friends snapping photos and video while they flag their buddies and other patrons on the line. I recall one time one guy actually come out of the firing line with his gun in pocket, pulled it out and cleared it in front of everyone in the waiting area. Fortunately there were no rounds in the gun at all. Overall, it's not a bad gun range. But there are definitely some things they need to address and, hopefully, can do something about in the near future. If anything, work the A/C issue and have a range safety actively present when newbie shooters are on the line. Till then, I don't see myself shooting here again anytime soon. read more

However, I scratched up my brand new 2k rifle because they have metal trimming on their tables. So when you shoot and you put your rifle down, it's going to get scuffed up. So be careful. read more

Boom! That's the sound that greets you in the parking lot. Boom! Boom! Boom! That's the sound that greets you when you open the door. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! That's the sound your heart makes when you pull the trigger for the first time. Not because you're scared, but because you've just exercised your 2nd Amendment right. A handgun rental will generally cost you about $45. I covered what is covered in the cost with a previous quick tip. You can also rent high-powered rifles and shotguns as well. Of course, you can also purchase firearms here. If you don't have a concealed weapons license, then the waiting period is 5 business days. If you do have a concealed weapons license, then you can purchase any firearm with no wait time. A concealed weapons license can be achieved by attending a 2-hour class (offered here for $60). After completing the course, you'll be instructed to make an appointment with a state agency where you can receive your license. There is a fee involved ($112 paid with personal check or money order), and your permit is good for 7 years. The permit is recognized in 35 states. Everyone that works in this store is extremely knowledgeable about all of the firearms they carry. If you're worried about anything, they will put you at ease. What's great about this place is that you can demo your firearm before purchasing it. For home defense, I recommend a 9mm handgun (SigSauer, Glock, Smith & Wesson, and Colt are good brands) and a security shotgun (Mossberg, Winchester, and Remington are tops). For the apocalypse, I suggest a .45 cal handgun (HK45, Glock 21, SigSauer P220, and the Smith & Wesson M&P 45 are tops), a hunting rifle, and a semi-automatic rifle. Semi-auto rifles should be 5.56mm (NATO round) and the top rifles include: AK-47 (Russian made)...good luck finding this weapon. If you do happen to come across one, you'll shell out anywhere from $15-$30k. They are the best assault rifles in the business but they don't fire NATO rounds The FN-SCAR is a beast and may be easier to get your hands on than the AK and can fire an AK round as well as the NATO round. The M-16 is used by the US Military and not available to the public, but there are ways around that. The M-4 is available to the public and can be fitted to fire NATO Rounds. The HK G36 also fires NATO rounds but has limited range. I apologize for the tangent on assault rifles. I just love them so much. One day I hope to be an owner of a few. But until then, I'll rent an AR-15 (.22) at Florida Gun Center and fire a couple of thousand rounds. It's cheaper than purchasing an AK... read more

This is the first time I have ever been to an indoor range, so even with the ear protection it took me a few minutes to adjust to the close proximity of other shooters. The place was busy, but everyone stayed in their stalls. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have quite an arsenal of guns for sale and they sell ammo for a decent price, if you run out of your own. They have plenty of parking (private lot and street parking). They also have eye & ear protection you can rent if you don't have your own. I'm sure I'll be visiting this place again! By the way NO RAPID fire or shot guns here :) - it is indoors after all! read more

This is a decent shooting range within the realms of Hialeah. I have made a few purchases here and they do negotiate and you can haggle a bit with them. Sometimes they stand their ground and other times they budge. Depends on the market really. Don't try to buy anything during election years because they tend to be more uptight with price negotiations then through my observations. They do not let you shoot high powered rifles or shotgun here as of 2010. They do however offer the concealed weapons permit and fingerprints all in one location so that is always convenient. They also do let you trial many different types of hand guns so you can try them before you buy them. Some staff is super cool after you initiate conversation and they are always helpful, but some are just snarky sarcastic Cubans that think they are bad ass cause they have a gun on their hip and sit behind the counter. (I can speak that way about the Cubans since I am one!) read more

I'm still a big fan of this place but not because I had a chance to shoot a gun there. Instead, I took a concealed weapons permit class taught by Ike. Two classes are offered on Saturdays but you can also get a class by appointment Tuesday through Friday. As a person with limited gun experience, I opted for a more private setting by setting an appointment so I could ask all the stupid questions I wanted. It was still the same price ($50)! Ike, a retired police officer, is funny, patient and very serious about gun safety. His curriculum teaches gun safety, how to operate a revolver and a pistol, how to buy a gun as well as the law. Upon completion of the class you get to shoot ten rounds, but there was a backlog from some security officer certification training and my friend and I get to go back to complete that portion. Ike provides you with the paperwork to take to the Miami Regional Office for the State of Florida where for $117 you can submit your application, get your picture and fingerprints taken and receive your license in 3 weeks. This store rents guns and the equipment for shooting on the range. You can also bring your own guns and ammo. As others have mentioned, parking is tricky, but getting here is easiest if you stick to taking the Palmetto. The staff is great and I can definitely see myself becoming a frequent visitor! read more

Was okay. I've been to shooting ranges near Seattle, San Francisco and now here and this was not even close to par. When I returned the gun for example, they did not check that it was clear and simply put it back on the display case. They generally did not ask me many questions and seemed very lax about security. The floor was full of spent cases even though I was the only one there. The ventilation system made targets move. The service was okay but not very friendly. If I had never shot before I don't think I would have felt comfortable here. read more

at 20 years old I went in to shoot my Ruger 10-22 and a chubby guy behind the counter with a chip on his shoulder began to tell me that I shouldnt even have a weapon becuase im not 21 even though in florida I could legally buy a rifle at 18 which I did. A customer told me to ignore that dumbass. I just left and never went back. How can someone sell guns and not even know the law??? My partner in crime and I came here on a Saturday afternoon for a bit of lead-infused fun. We found parking immediately and only had to wait five minutes or so for a free lane. The staff were welcoming but very serious about safety, which is what I want to see at a firing range. The place is clean and the backstops are solid. Prices on targets and ammo are about what you'd expect, and although they didn't have the specific gun I wanted to try available to rent, they did seem to have a pretty good selection of rental firearms. We stayed long enough to shoot about 100 rounds but never felt hurried or rushed. No one hovered over us (an annoyance that seems to be a particular problem for female shooters) and there was even a guy who periodically swept brass out of our way. Also, the bathroom was small but very tidy, which is always a plus when you're covered in lead dust and powder and want to remove as much of it as possible before getting into your car and touching everything. In all, Florida Gun Center is a great little indoor range, with friendly, helpful staff and fair prices. We'll certainly be back the next time we're in Miami. Highly recommended. read more

During our visit to Miami, we made it a point to go rent some guns to shoot. Being that we were from NYC, where non-licensed persons cannot fire any handguns, this was going to be a special new experience for my girlfriend. I'm a LEO, so I'm an experienced gun owner and marksman, and I found that the Florida Gun Center was a great place for me to teach my gf to handle and shoot a firearm for the first time. The place was very modern and clean. The shooting lanes were set up nicely with controls to set your target at any specific distance with just a few presses of a button. There was a good selection of handguns and long arms for rental, but we were only interested in the handguns. We started with the S&W M&P 9mm, and the Beretta PX4 Storm 40 cal. The guns were $10 each, and the boxes of ammo were $17 and $22 for 50 rounds of 9mm and .40, respectively. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and eager to address any questions that we had. The M&P was shooting way off mark, but I didn't see it as a big deal as I was teaching my newbie shooter the basics. We finished our visit with another box of ammo with a 3rd gun, the Springfield XD in 40 cal. Two of the 3 guns we rented shot very accurately, and we had a great time overall. Our visit was on a Tuesday afternoon, so the place was not busy at all. Afterwards we visited their gun store just to check out what they had, and their selection of guns for sale seemed pretty good. If you do not own your own gun, or you're visiting from out of town, you should definitely check this place out. I believe they have lessons available as well. read more

Finally my husband, a concealed weapons instructor and avid hunter, gave in and took me to the range. I had not been to a gun range since we moved back to Florida from Texas. As far as this range, it was quite nice and very organized. Frank was great he was very attentive and took good care of us. In total we where five and there was not wait for a lane. I saw several customers renting and purchasing ammunition and I noticed how knowledgeable the staff was. We shot sever rounds of different caliber and different guns, both revolvers and pistols. It took us just about an hour of shooting and that was just fine. My son and daughter actually stayed a bit longer but there was no one hurrying them out. The price for the use of the range was also great. I will most likely harass my hubby to take me there again since I shot so badly. These fellows know their stuff! read more

Very impressed by this place - and found it thanks to Yelp. A great place to bring young minds to teach them about the right to bear arms. They do have high powered rifles available to rent (shot their AR-15 on my first visit). Bolt was jamming due to high usage (looked pretty dry), but the range team was kind enough to oil down the chamber in a very timely manner. It was a busy day, but the lines moved fairly quickly. Didn't get a chance to shop, but looks like they have a lot to offer and will be sure to come back. Great place. Went there for the first time this Saturday. The staff was very friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. The make you feel welcomed. I went with my wife as part of a concealed weapons course training. We are both newbies and were looking for a hand gun for her. Roberto attended to us and we came away very impressed. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable about firearms, but he went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. He allowed my wife to test fire two pistols at the range and showed us about 7 different options before we narrowed it down to those two...and he never pressured us to purchase. As a matter of fact, he encouraged us to sleep on it before we bought. The prices for the range, the gun rentals and the firearms are reasonable and much better than I have seen from their competition. Parking is a bit limited, but I went on a Saturday and the place was packed. (Good indicator that they are doing a great job.)
