A beautiful, comfortable home, facing a lake, located in Killarney, Ireland.
It started with a warm greeting from Paul the owner and his wife Annette.
Paul took my bags. Annette checked us in.
The rooms are spotless and inviting with a view of the lake in front of the house.
There is a little bar, and in the evening we all gathered for a spot of Redbreast whiskey and talked with some other travelers.
Breakfast is topnotch. A pot of coffee or tea is placed on your table while you visit the breakfast bar for yoghurt, granola, fruit and an assortment of cheeses and meats, but there is more. You order from several items on the menu, and not sure who is doing the cooking but it was delicious.
In fact, we also enjoyed one of the best dinners we had in Ireland at the Lochlein. The mushroom bisque was some of the best I ever had. My hubby had the white fish with prawns in a delicate garlic butter. Amazing. My roast chicken was flavorful and juicy.
The beds were comfortable and rooms quiet. The bathroom was well appointed.
As we left, we had to hug our hosts. They were our first and still one of our warmest memories of our time in Ireland. read more
