I've wanted to go to The Europe for YEARS now, but between one thing and another both occasions I had it booked had to be cancelled. So I was quite excited to see what all the fuss was about on my recent mini break... and I can tell you, it doesn't disappoint!
We were greeted by really friendly staff and eagerly had a look around the lobby area... it's pretty stunning to look straight out to the lakes and mountains while having a read of the papers. We booked an overnight package of room, bed, breakfast and dinner in a Classic Double at €380.00. While the website says these rooms offer "windows overlooking the garden and with restricted views of the lake" we had amazing views so I'm not sure if we just got lucky or if we were upgraded to the Lakeside View rooms - either way, I wasn't complaining :)
After settling in and unpacking we decided to take a wander down to the highly acclaimed spa area. While we didn't have any treatments booked I was super excited for the outdoor jacuzzi, even the crazy cold temperatures couldn't deter me! I've visited some lovely hotels with pretty fab spa areas like, but this was most definitely my favourite... everything was just perfection. Laying in the outdoor pool in hot bubbling water looking up at the snow capped mountains was special. We spent a couple of hours there, in and out of the pools and sauna etc then headed back to our room to chill out for a bit before dinner. The hotel is equally as stunning in the evening time, with plenty of little areas to sit and have a chat over a drink.
Dinner included in the package was served in the Panorama Restaurant, which also has views out to the lakes and mountains. Unfortunately, it being late evening, it was pitch black outside so we had to make do with looking at each other :-) The food was superbly presented and extremely tasty... the selection of desserts was the high point for me, although between the two of us after all the food we couldn't manage to polish it all off! We went back to the bar for a couple of glasses of wine but having made pigs of ourselves felt tired and full so headed off to bed!
Breakfast the next morning was also served in the Panorama restaurant, although with such a large amount of guests they had opened it out to allow for the two breakfast serving areas. A bright and beautiful view greeted us and made for a pleasant breakfast experience, along with the buffet breakfast and eggs made to order.
After check out we had a short walk around the grounds to soak in the last of the beauty. Our stay in The Europe was perfect and all too brief as we set off to explore another area and stay elsewhere... secretly wishing we'd stayed two nights here! If you are looking for a real treat weekend in a stunning setting then The Europe is without doubt somewhere you should stick right at the top of your list! read more
