We stayed one night at this castle and it was beautiful. The castle is smaller than I expected but there are many different rooms on the bottom floor to lounge. There is a specific breakfast/dinner room if you book those with the hotel. The dinner was great! I got the 5 course dinner which came with an app, soup, main course, dessert, and tea or coffee. The main course was a filet which was very tender. I wasn't a fan of the foie gras or the dessert which we got Irish cheeses and a chocolate gateaux (very dry). There is a small outdoor area with a very pretty gazebo. The most disappointing part of our stay was breakfast. You get to choose a meal and there is a buffet out as well. In the buffet, the smoked salmon was old as the edges were dried out. The meats also seemed old. We stuck to the hot breakfast which was ok. Overall it was a good one night stay, best part were the dogs!

All I can say is OMG! Had the best time here! Gorgeous castle hotel! So much fun, just lovely! They have 5 dogs to greet guests, 40 unique rooms, but it never seemed crowded. Lovely common areas, and beautiful grounds with gardens and walking trails. Loved it all! Dinner and bfast was included, the food was good, but not great. I wish I could have stayed longer!!

Although this castle is ancient dating back to the 1500s, it is very elegant and well kept. During dinner, we read the history of the hotel and their famous ghost, Hilda, who was the last of the family. After dinner, we were escorted to our rooms and I asked if this hotel was haunted and she said DEFINITELY! She mentioned that ghost encounters and such come to the hotel strictly to set up their paranormal detection devices. The many landlords of time gone by are said to haunt the corridors of this delightful castle. Ballyseede castle has been named one of the TOP 10 haunted hotels in the world. Okay enough with the creepy stuff. This superior castle with very spacious, romantic rooms and amazing dining at the O'Connell Restaurant and the Stone Room Restaurant. Both were good, especially the full breakfast at the Stone Room. The employees were not so nice in the evening since we arrived pretty late but they were nice enough to accommodate us for dinner. In the morning, totally different attitudes, everyone was super friendly and the man that served our breakfast was the sweetest. Our group booked 3 rooms but in reality we could've totally stayed in one room because the rooms are huge! Luckily, we got one of the upgraded suites a little far from the lobby but my husband and I LOVED it! To be specific, we stayed in the "WILDE" room and it was a perfect night I won't forget. Let's just leave it at that.

We had an amazing experience. We were Only able to spend one night, but wished we could have spent several more nights here. The location is stunning. This castle sits in a beautiful park setting. The staff was very attentive, from Nicole our receptionist to Doreen and Joe's humor and service They made us feel so welcomed and appreciated and were so willing to share their knowledge. On arrival we had a welcome by a beautiful Irish Wolf hound, Molly, she set the stage for our castle stay perfectly. There are 3 other beautiful dogs that wander the grounds and are great treat to see as well as the miniature horses across in the paddy. we were fortunate to stay in a room in the main castle which was a return to another era with all the modern amenities. The food was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this experience and will definitely repeat my stay here in future.

Beautiful castle! The dogs and other animals are a nice touch. The room was spacious and comfortable, and it was wonderful to have a clothes iron in the room! Of course we stayed at B&B's for all of the trip but this night, and some comforts just aren't found at B&B's. Another one of those comforts was having a bar downstairs. It was nice to not have to walk far or get a taxi to a bar/pub for once. The food and drink, while pricey, was very well done. And I LOVED the tea service! SO pretty!! The grounds of the castle were in need of a little work. The bar and restaurant staff were a little less congeal than I was used to for Ireland, and for what we were paying, but that was easily overlooked. And once you talked to them for a bit they seemed to lighten up. The Wi-Fi was almost non-existent in most parts of the castle. Which would've been ok, but I really needed it for checking on our Skellig Michael trip the next day. Speaking of which, I missed breakfast in the Castle because I screwed up and reserved the wrong day for the Landing Tour. It's about an hour and a half from Ballyseede to Portmagee, so we had to hustle. I'm so sad we didn't get the opportunity to experience the breakfast, but Skellig Michael was worth it in the long run. I would be interested in staying at their other manor/castle hotels if and when I visit Ireland again. It was one of the highlights of the trip!

Impressive, romantic and historic castle with great views comfy beds and amazing company! My boyfriend booked this as a little surprise trip for just the two of us to escape the madness of a family gathering. It did not disappoint!! Everything was perfect and I hope to come back soooon!

This was such a cool castle! I'm really happy we spent a night here. They had the cutest mini ponies and donkeys in the front. The grounds weren't huge but they made for a nice stroll and the little statues hidden along the way were fun to find. I loved all of the sitting rooms and the stacks of tea cups provided so you could have tea or coffee at your leisure. The staff was friendly and gave the castle a homey feel. The formal dining room was beautiful and you felt like royalty at dinner. The breakfast room felt like something out of Beowulf and the food was great! I really enjoyed my stay here.

my wife and i were married here and we loved every minute of our stay here. the staff was over-the-top accommodating us. they held onto our packages that we needed for the ceremony, they made sure we were not missing or lacking anything. mary was incredible to work with and shout out to joe in the dining room who went over and above serving us and making sure we had food sent up to our room when we couldn't make it to breakfast. of course two of the best things about the castle are molly and mr higgins. you probably will run into them coming into the castle or they like to hang out at the loading area behind the castle during the day. einstein was also a lovable guy who likes to hang out at the bar like the crazy drunk he is. the castle is gorgeous from top to bottom. it has a great mix of history and modernity. wifi signal is solid throughout the castle, plenty of plugs everywhere and even usb power outlets in the rooms. bathrooms were amazingly nice. we loved our wedding food. all of it made in the castle kitchen. the drinks were great at the bar and the food at the bar was really good too, i'd highly suggest you order some fish and chips from the bar menu. the complimentary breakfast was amazing every morning. everything about our stay was perfect and we could not have asked for a better and more stress-free week for our wedding. i highly recommend visiting ballyseede and can't wait to come back to visit!

My husband and I had a lovely stay at the castle. The room was absolutely lovely and luxurious. The king bed was very comfortable. Our dinner in the bar was great. Breakfast the next morning was even better. The dogs made our stay so much fun since we were missing our own dogs. We had no complaints about our stay.

Ridiculous... this was the perfect venue for a wedding reception, easily the most luxurious I've attended... felt like it was my home, everyone wandering and lounging where they pleased, with several tea/coffee rooms, beautiful garden, Shetland ponies, dinning rooms and entertainment halls, lots of painting of somber stuffy people... being an American, I didn't know hotel bars in Ireland are required to stay open 24 hrs for their patrons... yes, it was a grand party... If I am ever in this part of Ireland again, I would definitely book a room here and try to relive the memory...

I stayed 2 days and had dinner both nights at the hotel to try different food and give them more than one try on the food. They're of decent size, with large windows (though ours faced the somewhat severe-looking courtyard). Everything seemed clean and pretty well maintained. WARNING: I don't know what cleansers they use, but the tub floors are incredibly slippery. There's a sticker in the tub saying something like "Tub floor is slippery, please use the tub mat provided," but there's no mat. One highlight is the kitchen, which I believe serves both the restaurant and the bar. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and the bar one night, and both were very good. The restaurant's beef and Guinness stew was excellent. In the bar we ordered appetizers (which were easily large enough to make a reasonable meal), and all were very good. Biggest negative was some of the service, especially in the restaurant. The first night was a hot mess. We're with a bus tour and that dinner was our first night meet-and-greet, so we were a party of something like 48 people. Which is admittedly a lot, but they were giving us a very limited fixed-price 3-course menu, and didn't have to deal with payment, so it was hardly extreme. The service that night was egregious. We'd barely sat down before someone was there wanting to take our orders for all three courses. That, BEFORE we even got water, let alone placed drink orders. It took about 25 minutes for someone to take our drink orders. The folks at the table next to us NEVER got to place a drink order! When food started coming out - before our drinks arrived - servers kept trying to bring us the wrong food. We asked if we could split a dessert. Our waiter didn't understand and brought us two desserts. We asked for decaf tea. The server didn't understand and had to go get the woman who seemed to be a manager - who said they DID NOT HAVE ANY decaf tea at all. I feel like there were a few other missteps that night but I don't remember them all. There were issues with breakfast, too - running out of coffee, no tea to be found, etc - and the porters didn't pick up luggage from several rooms the morning of checkout. It's a shame that such a nicely designed space lacks sufficient suitable personnel!

Our room looked out onto the car park which was also used for storing crates etc so not a very nice view. The bathroom had plain glass on the window with just a piece of net curtain so due to lack of privacy, we were unable to use the facilities. When we decided to make some tea, the inside of the kettle looked like a dirty toilet bowl and I was tempted to chuck it out through the window. After abandoning the idea of having tea in our room we went down to the bar for a drink but it was too cold to sit there so we went out for a meal. The good thing was that there were lots of restaurants to choose from and all within walking distance of the hotel. Not liking a lot of bedclothes on the bed, I removed the throw only to find a big hair stuck to the blanket. The blankets are obviously not cleaned after each guest so I had to make sure to wrap the sheet around me so that I wouldn't touch off the blanket. After inserting my ear plugs, I settled down for a good night's sleep. But it wasn't to be. I constantly thumped my husband all through the night and told him to stop snoring. I was amazed when he got out of bed and I could still hear the snoring so I took out the ear plugs and discovered that the noise was coming from the room next to us. There was a hole in the wall where pipes had been installed and it hadn't been filled in properly so every sound from next door sounded like it came from our room. Whoever was doing the snoring definitely needs attention because in all my years I have never heard anything like it. There was a good breakfast menu with a fair selection of cereals, juices, yogurts etc. The service was so good that I hadn't finished eating my cereals when the waitress placed our fry on the table. There was a big helping of bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes and black and white pudding. However, the dining room was so cold that by the time I finished eating my cereals, the fry had gone too cold to eat it. Will I be going back again? No, definitely not and I will not be recommending it to my friends or family.
