I pay for the highest tier available for internet which is 1g, my service constantly has connectivity issues and when I ask for information as to why I get vague answers. I shouldn't have as many discrepancies in my service as I do. Today the service has been out for a little over an hour, I was on hold once for a tech and got disco after waiting nearly 30 mins on hold. My wife uses the internet for her online courses through the college, and I use it for gaming and streaming our kids' favorite shows. When we signed up, we were guaranteed that we would not have any issues with the service. That has not been the case. read more

I am still in absolute shock over the way I was treated by localtel customer service agents. Especially Kari. My service was abruptly turned off and I was told multiple times that my signal was too low and they had to disconnect it. After many visits from their employees to my home, I was told I'd have to remove a tree to regain service. This was going to be a trial and error Because that particular tree might not be the problem, but we'd have to check one by one. We had a plan, I had a tree service booked, and then it was all changed last minute. I was now told I had to cut down multiple trees before they would consider coming back out. And that still might not fix it. I don't know if you've ever gotten a quote on taking down trees but it's roughly $500-$1000 per tree for the possibility that they might be wrong. So after hours on the phone being passed back-and-forth to get a direct answer as to why they decided to turn off my service, I was lied to multiple times. Originally, I was told that my signal strength was an issue, and now my line of site was the only problem. The only way they would know if there was a line of site issues if they trespassed on my property without my permission. I have cameras and they did not so another lie. When I brought up the fact that they are all giving me different answers I was told that my conversation was not productive and they would be ending the call now. So I am still left with no Internet and gaslit into thinking that I am an idiot who doesn't understand how WiFi works. We live in a rural area and I was willing to accept the fact that the service was too spotty and just wouldn't work. I will never accept how they spoke to me or treated me. I enjoyed the internet service while we had it. Unfortunately we had to move a few blocks away, it ended up being in an area where they had no fiber yet. I waved the start up fee and agreed to have one year of service. We had no idea that our short move had no localtel service. There was no fiber at our new address. Even though we still wanted it we were charged the early cancellation fee when they could not provide it. I agreed to one year service. I wasn't told I couldn't move for a year! Seems pretty unfair as we were willing to hold to our agreement but they couldn't provide. Anybody else think this is wrong? The people that we spoke to at signing, Anna was one, she was very nice and helpful but she doesn't make the rules. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This company goes above and beyond and I have witnessed it first hand several times. The customer service is excellent, the service itself is great! Excellent group of tech support that are available even after 5 PM. When you call you get an actual person to talk to. You don't have to spend 45-60 minutes on hold just to talk to a person and get help unlike other providers in the area I have dealt with. Sometimes what they can offer as far as service goes is very dependent on if the PUD has brought fiber to the area. Sometimes that can be a bit of a wait but for what you get it is definitely worth the wait. Highly recommend! read more

Was considering LocalTel for my home internet service. Was working with a gal that was really nice. I had some questions about the wireless service signal's ability to make it to my house from the tower. Microwave signals have problems negotiating foliage sometimes. They don't offer site surveys so I was willing to do my own. I just needed the frequencies they use to do a level check at my house. The gal I was working with conferenced me into a 3-way call with another lady she felt could answer my question. Lady #2 told me they change frequencies a lot so that wouldn't do me any good. So I asked which band they use (all the frequency "channels" are in a "band"). Irritated with me she snapped, "We don't share that kind of information with our customers!". To which I said, "Oh okay, thank you.", hung up and blocked their number. It's been a while since I was treated so condescendingly. Great way to win new customers lady #2. So good that I'm leaving a stellar review here for you. I'll send smoke signals before I ever consider using LocalTel for anything ever again. read more

I scheduled an appoint and the tech was late, It was hot and the tech was too big a guy to fit in the access to the ceiling. Re-scheduled for a couple of weeks later for a cooler morning. Another big tech arrived late and the guy who was suppose to go in the attic was another hour late, so lost the advantage of a cooler attic. They had to hurry up and go because they were late for another appointment. I did not get any information or even a channel line up. Disorganized and extremely poor installation service. Follow up call, was very nice....did not mention the installation experience. Was given channel line up, and instructions for remote tv...which I could not get to work. I was asked to click on google link for a review but no link was given. The basic channel line up does not include CBS and is extremely disappointing. I really feel it is a waste of time and money and regret adding tv to my internet account. read more

After waiting over 1 month for localtel to install fiber internet (which is already at the street) and being told it would be another month or two before we'd have internet, the customer service lady told us we should get Charter if we want internet now. Every time I've called localtel I get a different person who tells me something completely different from the previous person I've talked to. It's impossible to get a straight answer, and I've been hung up on more than once. Horrible customer service! All this hassle isn't worth an extra 40mbps of internet speed. This is my first YELP review ever-I use yelp frequently and own a a couple of businesses that rely heavily on this website. I also use this to find new, local companies and try out various businesses through reviews which i find helpful. Being that this is my first review, it's going to be a horrible one! I've been with Localtel since they switched over from Genext and have enjoyed internet service up to March of 2013. All of a sudden, my internet is not working and i begin to think to myself, hey, where is my bill anyways? My first call, Localtel 'customer service' explains that their work order says that we were remodeling back in October (we weren't) and that our service has been disconnected due to the fiber optic box being removed (it's still there) since November 2012. Baffled, I explain that we have done no such thing. Customer Service takes down my phone number, says they'll look into it and call me back. Fast forward 3 days and I call them back to get an update. Same story told to me, so I explain the same story back to them-no, we did not remodel, I have had internet until mid March 2013 and also wondered why I have not received a bill. Again, they said I was remodeling and that the fiber optic box had been removed. I told them everything is still in place and that nothing has changed in the 1.5 years I've had internet service. "Oh, then we'll just turn it on, but give me your contact information and we'll call you back." No call. 2 days later, I call and again, nothing has been done. I speak with a very short, rude 'customer service' agent who explains that our service was disconnected due to remodeling (sigh), but, they will look into it and get back to me. Before I could confirm my contact number, the phone hangs up! Well, Localtel, you could have done 1 thing to fix this: Send someone out to investigate and turn the sh*t back on! This was one of the most ridiculous 'customer service'/no service experiences I have ever had-so bad in fact, that I'm prompted to write my first YELP review. I own 2 restaurants and take guest first service very seriously-it's vital to any business involving the general public paying for a service and expecting a positive result. Unfortunately for you Localtel, you don't deserve to be in business with employees representing your company like that-maybe it goes all the way to the top-who knows....What I do know is that you will NEVER get my business back and I will NEVER say anything decent about you either. j read more

DO NOT GET LOCAL TEL. horrible customer service. every representative tells you something different. if you want help figure it out yourselves, they will do nothing for you. i was charged almost double because of failure on their side of the portal. once again DO NOT GET LOCAL TEL. charter/spectrum has much quicker response time, are way more reliable, and will save you a million headaches. read more

We have always had excellent service from customer service from Localtel. All the techs are knowledgeable and friendly. They want their customers to have the best possible experience with their products. When someone tried to hack into our router they let us know immediately and got the problem solved, the hacker did not succeed. I appreciate that the techs can log on to my computer to resolve what ever issue I am having, it's so much easier than me trying to explain it. I appreciate that they quarantine junk mail. read more

Unfortunately, I was lied to about the charges for the internet service. I was quoted 40.00 dollars a month and the first bill shows up at $51.15. My expense for getting the service to my house was over $2500.00 in 2 inch grey PVC and labor to go through 500 feet of the neighbors property. At least they could be honest upfront about the fees. read more

Internet service itself is ok, never had any real issues. Customer service is basically a door-to-door salesman explaining all the magical benefits of their product, which if you know anything about networking/infrastructure you'll realize its the same crap others sell, but with sprinkles on it. After cancelling service, they apparently attempted to send me paper bills, and call me (never got a phonecall) and then sent my remaining bill to collections. When i emailed them asking why they didn't charge the CARD ON FILE, they asked if i wanted them to do that instead... Of sending it to collections? Hmm, i wonder what ANYONE would prefer... Save yourself the trouble and go with iFiber. Localtel won't even pricematch despite using the same area infrastructure. read more

I contracted with LocalTel to provide 25 mbps Internet speed. Found it was 9.5 mbps based on LocalTel's own Speed Test. Called tech support on and they return it to 25 mbps. Proactively thinking to prevent further issues, I called their sales department and contracted for 100 mbps. Next day, speed was 9.5 mbps. Called tech support - no answer why this happened. Order to increase to 100 mbps never done, so that was initiated. Not told my Internet connection would be out from 10 am - 6pm. Lost time and money due to inability to do business activities. I wrote to LocalTel asking why Internet speed was not at contracted speed, why Internet speed had returned to 9.5 mbps, and what was going to be done. Letter from the VP stated, "LocalTel does not monitor all the speeds for all customers on a 24x7 basis. It is up to our customers to monitor and report issues to our tech support department." In records going back to 2004, I found no documentation of this stipulation (nor on their website) that quality control for LocalTel's services lay with the consumer. In the letter, not receiving the contracted Internet speed not addressed - instead, VP attempted to upsell me an additional service. Instead of addressing why my Internet speed returned to the realm of 9.5 mpbs, VP wrote: "But we will never guarantee your internet (sic) will be up 24x7 365 days a year." I never asked LocalTel for this. I asked why I had not received the services I contracted for. LocalTel apparently has no reliable way to ensure it can provide contracted services. It took over 10 days for the problem to be resolved. Today, because I thought my email had been hacked, I discovered that LocalTel had changed the spam filter settings. No warning. This resulted in 327 of my emails ending up in quarantine. Serious disruption of business and personal communications. Perfect example of how LocalTel treats their customers. read more

I moved from LA to Wenachee and ordered fiber optic internet for my new home 1 week before we moved hoping it would be ready by the time we arrived. Well Its been 25 days and still no internet. If it wasnt for the fact that they're the only carrier with 100mbps, i would have cancelled my order. They dont have an exact day for installation just a 3 week period. Installation should be free (I paid $100) if its going to take this long. read more

I also had a video surveillance system installed. We have had Local Tel as our internet, phone, and cable for almost a decade on the Chelan's County PUD fiber network. The customer service was outstanding in the past. We did have some customer service issues related to the fiber network. Local Tel did call out the PUD and between the two got the issue resolved quickly. They have never denied responsibility or attempted to skirt an issue. I think the rapid growth in the company has led to some customer service issues this year (2013). We experienced the same issues with the spam filter when the company that provided the service to Local Tel exited the business. Local Tel is the largest provider of internet, phone, and cable in the Wenatchee Valley. Locally owned and operated. There is no comparison between Local Tel and Charter cable or Frontier customer service. Surprised at the two negative reviews. That has not been my experience. In fact, as noted before the customer service has been outstanding. read more

Just hooked up today with the bundle plan our T.V. as we've had the internet for quite some time. Everything went so smooth, from initial contact to installer coming on the set date (about 10 days) and being so polite, understanding, and good with his work. Installer actually arrived early and asked if it was a problem that he arrived early??What are you kidding, great! He walked through the house to understand our request, we showed the two existing rooms to be taken care of and for no additional cost they will and he did run another line to another bedroom. His work was perfect, explaining how he was to do it and asked if any questions. He installed everything quickly and cleaned up what little mess there was. Helped my wife and I through the remote control operation and answering our questions over and over, we're old. Would highly recommend LocalTel television, more channels we like and we save about $35 a month with the bundle, and a local company that cares. No brainer to sign up now. read more

well, local tel strikes again. change to all digital signal was a complete fiasco for anyone who needed a DTA box for their older TVs. installation is easy, however, programming them is a major pain. little to no help from local tel. I had to call multiple times to get any help getting a signal to my elderly tenants. when I finally did get them hooked up, service keeps getting interrupted by a popup on the screen saying "channel 258 is not included in your current subscription", even though you're watching channel 5, 18 49- you pick the channel, it doesn't matter, it just pops up. another fine job local tel. I have had Localtel phone service since they first began offering it (15 plus years?) We then added internet (dial up which eventually led to 100 mbps fiber) and finally TV. We have always been very happy with our service and with the customer service and technical support. We decided about a year ago to save some money and went with over-the-air antenna for our TV and just a month or so ago finally cut the cord to our landline and have just cell phones now. I really would have been perfectly happy keeping our landline, as I like the security of having a back-up in case of emergency. However, because phone companies, all of them not just Localtel, can't seem to do anything to block unwanted callers other than adding additional features at additional cost and additional hassle (which still ends up not really helping. In checking my Caller ID in the month before disconnecting over 80% of the calls were unwanted) we discontinued that service. If I were to decide to add either of those back into our budget, I would absolutely go with Localtel again. read more

I just moved to Wenatchee from the Seattle area. I was surprised at the wait for hook up, but I've been in the center of rush, rush, rush for a long time. So I worked at the library a couple of times, and some nice cafes with excellent wireless. Despite my initial grumbling, the fact that I got out and started getting to know the community was a positive result. AND when the installer did show up (on time) he was awesome. Very friendly, very helpful, very patient with my questions and my need to test everything before he left. A couple of weeks later, before sending the first invoice, I received a call to see how everything was going, how was the service etc. WOW. I don't remember centurylink ever giving a darn about service. So yes, the initial installation was a bit slower than what I'd grown accustom to, but the friendly service has far outweighed that. (AND if you need tech support, they answer the phone.) LocalTel has pleasantly reminded me why I left the big city. read more
