Great dive bar down in San Marco. Came in before "after work" crowd on a Friday afternoon. Pool Tables and tons of alcohol. (No drafts) They do offer chips for sale to snack on and was told on the weekends sometimes they have some crock pot food available for patrons. One of the few smoking bars left in Jacksonville. So wanted that known depending on your preference. Rock music is playing over the speakers (jukebox) while I am here plus a few TVs with sports. Besides pools they have a couple other games to play that are available. I be here for the late night scene, so can't comment on that. Kim is a super bar tender. Very sweet and attentive. If you are looking to hang at a dive bar with some locals and some not so locals then this is a place to check out. read more

We all go here for one reason. To drink! Nope. It's for Monica. She's the absolute best bartender any of us has ever met. The patrons here are always friendly and down for a little chat or game of darts. The bartenders, other than the Queen Monica, vary in quality; some are great others - not so much. My only real complaint is the cigarettes. It's just too much to constantly breathe in at times. If you don't like crowded bars don't go here. It's almost always packed. read more

I visited jacksonville a couple years ago and stayed at the hotel across the street from this place. A couple work buddies and myself stopped at this place and stayed till close. It was a decent night, chatted with a couple of the locals and had a few drinks. It seemed to be a decent enough dive bar with the perfect amount of people and an almost small town vibe with a big city night life look. At closing time i picked up the tab for my buddies and i, leaving a $20 tip on $140 tab and one of my other friends also left a $20 tip. I thought an almost 30% tip was reasonable right? Only until Jess comes running out the bar and calls me a cheap ass for not leaving a tip...? which was weird to me because when i left the tip she rang that little bell thats supposed to mean someone left a "big or nice tip", which is what she told me when i asked what the bell was all about. I believe it was mike there working with her that night as well, he seemed decent enough. Drinks were okay, atmosphere was good, but the entitlement from jess is something not needed from someone serving customers. However, if you want to see half naked girls serving you drinks this might be your place. read more

This is one of my favorite bars around Jacksonville. You can smoke inside, play pool, darts and someone's always playing something good on the jukebox . I actually made my fiance come in first and then i came in a few minutes later. I pretended to not know him then try and hit on him and take him home. It was great! Oh what a dive bar that Locals is. I'm impressed. I stayed across the street from here on a business trip recently in what seemed like a great hotel in a crappy part of town. When leaving the hotel I wasn't sure if I was going to get mugged or stabbed; but decided since Locals was right across the street I could run fast enough without getting into any trouble. So I made the journey over and was pleased to see that the inside of the bar did not look as rough as the outside. I was greeted right away by a super nice bartender; hate that I forgot her name. She welcomed me and told me what all beers she had behind the bar and made sure to take good care me the entire time I was there. The beers was ice cold and very refreshing after a long day of meetings. The inside of the bar was very smokey which made seeing and breathing a little difficult but it was a nice little bar with a jukebox, darts, and pool tables. I suppose it gets pretty busy in here since this was a Monday night and the place had a good crowd of about 25 to 30 people. read more

If you're looking for a dive bar on the Southbank in Jacksonville, Locals' is one of two options, with Sherwood's being the other. I can't adequately compare Sherwood's, because until yesterday, my husband and I have spent our dive-bar money almost exclusively at Locals'. Quite smoky inside, lots of characters, and cheap-enough drinks. Since the pandemic started, they have ignored mask mandates and put up even more American flags... you know, since mask-wearing is an infringement on all our freedom . Yesterday, the owner reared his head and spouted off lots of right-wing conspiracy, pro-Trump propaganda that made all of us sitting at the bar quite uncomfortable. He talked to the female bartender like she was his property, and it made for one of the worst bar experiences we've ever had. I typically don't judge the politics of business owners, and I don't discriminate based on that. However, yesterday's antics displayed by the owner of the establishment have led us to spend our last penny here. Again -- if you're looking for a trashy dive bar, this is one of your few options. But after their complete disregard for public health recommendations and childish, inappropriate, divisive behavior from the owner, you'll find us down the street at Sherwood's from now on. read more

This place is so much more PURPLE than anyone would ever expect. In all honesty, this is just an average dive bar that is always full of smoke, littered with a few pool tables here and there, and seems to be confused about whether or not it is trying to pass as some skeezey lounge or a hole in the wall. And for that, I blame the purple. It's like someone went, "Hey! If we add a bunch of royal purple it will really class the place up!" Wrong. I have come here a few times and the bar is big and possibly made of granite, again with the confusion thing. There are always sketchy people hanging out, or maybe ten of your closest friends... it is anyone's guess! I can't really handle the smoke, but I haven't ever been here before already consuming at least five beverages, so by that point I THINK I can handle anything. Locals' is small dive bar next door to the Bearded Pig. It has a great wait staff and the bartenders are friendly. Be prepared...it is a smoking bar but has better ventilation than most. They offer free boiled peanuts at happy hour whle they last. They are really good! Every now and then there will be another dish offered as well. Yesterday the extra free app was fried pork chops. Everyday prices on Jose Silver and Fireball shots is a steal of a deal at $2.50! They have pool tables, darts and juke box. The bar is always clean. This is without question the best and friendliest true local dive bar in Jacksonville. The pig restaurant a@&-h@Iz leaving bad reviews bc they were asked to park in the correct lot have publicly said it better than anyone else - they don't belong in Locals. Throughout the evening of my first visit at least 7 people told me, "this is my bar!". I was treated better by the bartenders and patrons of Locals than every other bar I've visited in Jacksonville (basically all of them). Bartenders Ron, Jewels, Josh and Monica are all great people and true professionals. This little pub is a total throwback to a bygone era and it's charm is found in the warm spirit and friendly laughter of the real people that frequent it. Great people, great music, best prices, I love Locals pub! After my first visit it is the one place In all of Jacksonville that I'm proud to call, "My bar!". read more
