If you have never been to a place that serves tiny portions but enormous flavor, you must check this place out. It was like a symphony of flavors. It's a place to come an try this type of food out at least once in your life. Not a place to repeat over an over again, but once is a must. They give you this tomato basil dish first and it's just a bite, but it's orgasmic. Like I had never known what basil tasted like until that very moment. Then came this asparagus salad with an egg that looked like a yellow tomato, but was an egg yolk. Yummy. We got the cheapest bottle of wine they had (60 euros) but it was also great. Flashy restaurant with overpriced cocktails. The little courses compliments of the chef were a nice touch, but I didn't really find the food good enough to want to come back. Foie gras wasn't flavorful, pasta was just ok. I didn't like the cocktail the waitress recommended and she said she took it off the bill - that was not reflected in what we paid, and 20 euros per drink isn't something to just brush off. This is an incredible place to visit whilst in Florence. It has a very beautiful design architecturally with an amazing high ceiling. There is also some very delicious food I have had the Iberian pig as a starter which was to die for and then the deer as my main. The wine is also very good although in my opinion their white is better than their red. It's a must that's all I can say, sure it's a bit expensive but hey, you are in Florence let yourself live a bit. read more

After being urged to at least have one drink here from multiple locals, we decided it was a must. Tucked in a dark alley, we weren't sure we had the correct directions, but were delighted to be ushered in with open arms by their host. The place was packed to the gills, not a seat in sight. We expected to be turned away, but were shown a couple cushioned seats just off the bar in a waiting area where we sat and took in the unique views of a greenhouse bar built into what seemed like a renaissance garage. Apparently we were waiting too long for the staff's liking, because a very apologetic man came to us with infused water while we waited and offered us a private tour of the building. We had no idea that the building we were in was once home to someone very close to the Medici family. He took us through the servant's quarters, the kitchen, and the laundry room all repurposed for modern use. This small tour alone made our Florence trip. Shortly after our little tour, we were seated. Being an obvious foreigner, I opted to take advice from our waiter, and my wife chose a gin fizz. I ended up with a whiskey concoction that was well worth the wait. We were treated to a gift from the chef, had our drinks, and were sent away with another small gift in the way of a special libation. 10/10 would have a drink here again. The price is high, but the atmosphere and treatment are well worth it. read more

Didn't come all the way to Florence to be surrounded by all Americans, let alone to pay 35 euro for terrible (and might I add undrinkable cocktails). Listen, I lived In Brooklyn and I understand the hype about mixology but come on. We ordered 2 drinks, one tasted like old wet rags (and that was the "good" one) and the other that the waiter firmly pushed the truffle one. Let's just say we had 2 sips and would rather leave the rest of the 35 euro drink than to drink another sip. Absolutely terrible experience. read more

Most beautiful restaurant in Tuscany. The decor was magnificent, a classic Tuscan building with a rich and modern contemporary twist....lamps were unique as were the walls of green foliage, the bar area was especially beautiful with hanging gardens and ivy. A very whimsical yet fancy feel. A nice option for mocktails, I had a hibiscus drink. Food was also delicious....we started w the gnocchi which melted in our mouth. Dinner we had the filet and the sea bass. I would say the sea bass was tastier....it came w a tomato consommé- a nice finishing touch. The mummy cheese was also delicious as was the butter, which cane from the chef's mom's farm!! Very fresh......but honestly even if you don't eat here, just go for drinks. I heard of Locale from a local blogger. It was near our hotel so we decided to check it out. We were impressed from the beginning. The craft cocktail prices were a little high (20 eu) but we soon found out why. We were offered two beautiful trays of food - aperitifs and snacks. The ambiance (beautiful bar, live plants line the walls, open air ceiling/roof, excellent service) was very impressive. Just as we were finishing, one of the young gentlemen suggested we check out the downstairs- which was actually street level in the 13th century. And he personally took us on a tour of the floor. Magical experience - we did it up and had the tasting menu and we had the best time. The bartenders and servers were so nice and welcoming. Each course was better than the last - our favorites were the lobster, squab and beef but everything was delicious. Very enjoyable restaurant. A little on the expensive side for the quality of the dishes, but the "add in" appetizers and after dinner treats more than compensate. We were given water and wine right away but then it took 40 mins for them to ask us if we had any questions about the menu. The food was good - but not great for the price.
