My favorite part of Local Wsst is hands down- their lemon potatoes. You can get them as a side dish and no offense to their other sides-- but definitely choose this. This spot has some decent sandwiches, and it's nice that everything is quite fresh. Honestly not a bad place to grab a bite locally. However, it's not so great that I'm inclined to go out of my way, and the prices are higher than expected. I got a cheesesteak, but spicy like the voodoo sandwich, and just like the voodoo chicken sandwich it's good, but it's not great. It's spicy, but it's not so spicy that it's voodoo! The fries are good, but there's no beer on draft or anything like that. Looking at the menu board, you can see that this is not your standard deli. It's much more than just combinations of sliced meats and cheeses. You can get a gyro, chicken pizza, salmon burger, and sweet potato fries, among many other choices. When I see a restaurant like this, I seriously wish I lived closer. I decided to go with the Cubano. This is not some half assed ham and pickles sandwich. They take perfectly cooked pork and layer it with ham, pickles, and mustard, pressed between French bread. This is seriously the real deal. I have had sandwiches in Florida that were not as good as this. My wife normally shares at least a little bit of her meal with me. She didn't let me have any of her chicken sandwich. Fortunately, we both got fries. They are skin on, and the owner told us that they soak them overnight, which releases the starch and makes them crispier. There were an enormous number of fries, and we both ate all of them. And, that's not all. My wife got a salad with an amazing vinaigrette. And, the soup of the day was a potato soup. Every spoonful was savory, and I wish I had ordered more. We are only in Ohio for three days, and we came here on day two. We are definitely coming here on our last day. UPDATE: we came back on the way home, and I got a salmon burger. Unlike most salmon burgers, which consist of breading that was formed in front of a picture of a salmon, this one has a significant amount of salmon in it. It's served with an excellent tzatziki sauce. I also got a rich, tasty mac & cheese. So glad to see that they've been able to survive the pandemic and unfortunate challenges other local restaurants have faced. The service is always quick considering that the food is made to order. During my most recent visit, I ordered the Blacon burger with sweet potato fries and it was satisfying. My only complaint is that the burger was cooked a little bit more than I expected but not to the point where I didn't enjoy it. Once again as I had found myself apropos to order take-out, I turned my eyes towards a little place called Local West. A most prosaic title, if we're being honest. But the reviews suggested this place was anything BUT ordinary. Much to my own surprise, I found myself ordering what would be cheesesteak for the third night in a row, just at a different restaurant. Hey, I love cheesesteaks, alright? Leave me alone. So, how was this one? Well, it helps to know they serve theirs on a baguette. This brings with it a different texture, but it works. The flavors are rustic and delightful; almost like...when Brown Bag meets Firehouse subs (only '915' peeps will get that reference). Also, I love that their fries are the freshly cut kind. These are ultimately my favorite type of fries, as they are the most authentic and clean (for the most part). A simple attribute to be sure, but also a most appreciated addition to my complete dinner. I was a little iffy on the choice to add mayo to a cheesesteak. But...it wasn't a detractor, at least. Maybe a bit superfluous in terms of cheesesteaks, since traditionally, they don't typically need or come with condiments. Interesting spin on a classic Philly sub none the less. I like the variety of sandwiches and burgers on their menu, it's perfect for takeout or just a casual meal at the shop, that's my favorite part as far as the food goes. I had the voodoo chicken sandwich and it had a tremendous spicy flavor, it was grilled but as great as it was already, frying the chicken would've tooken it up a few levels. The service is quick, especially if you're as lucky as me and show up before everyone else arrives to get dinner. The building in the interior is small and has a very simple layout, very clean, and comfortable in my opinion. Check this place out if you're in town or live in the Detroit-Shoreway area! Hand cut, well-seasoned and perfectly fried...and just freaking huge. Delicious and outrageously-portioned: this is the way to my heart. The salmon burger was so good. My only wish was for a little more salt, but that was easy enough to add on my own. My daughter had the Mac & Cheese burger (rave reviews) and husband had the spicy chicken pizza (loved). Located in a stand alone building at the West end of the Gordon Square strip, Local West has a nice set up. A former fast food location has been upgraded with rough hewn tables and a much superior menu. Not much decor, but large windows that let the light in. The menu is Burgers, sandwiches and some salads with plenty of choices; I ended up trying the salmon burger with the fresh cut fries. You order and pay at the counter and they bring the food to your table when it is ready. The salmon burger was freshly made in house, but I thought it needed a bit more binder to hold it together and I would have liked a bit more spice. The fries were fresh made and good. My overall impression was that my meal was OK, not sensational, although I think that if you get one of the meat dishes you will probably have a better experience. Prices are reasonable when you consider the sandwiches come with a side dish and they provide you with a nice variety of choices. read more

That said, the online ordering was easy and the food was ready to go and really well packaged. The food was just OK. The sauce was flavorful and they were very generous with the helping of meat. However, the meal itself lacked depth. It actually took us a few days to finish it because the pouting quickly blew out our taste buds with the unrelenting richness of the dish. I got the salmon burger with an egg on top. It was tasty and the salmon was particularly good. The tsatziki sauce could have used more spice and was more yogurty than I prefer. For the kids, we got the big breast sandwich. It was incredibly plain and, although the chicken was moist and fresh, it lacked any real flavor. I'd avoid it unless you have a preference for very plain food. The sides were particularly disappointing. The french fries were pretty forgettable, and neither substantial enough to satisfy thick fry lovers nor thin enough to appeal to straw fry types.
