I got the 2 slice lunch special with a drink. It was 6.50 but I got the 5 hr Hawaiian and meat lovers (50 cent extra). I'm glad did! They've got seriously good pizza and premium toppings. It's thin new York style. My pizza was fresh, hot, greasy, and devoured in just minutes! They also have real sugar fountain drinks like root beer, vanilla cream, and Mexican coke! Absoulelty great pizza place with huge 18" pizzas for a good price. We got the Tuscan and everything on it tasted great. The crust (in my opinion) was the perfect texture; slightly chewy and had good flavor. There was a even distribution of toppings and the pineapple added the perfect level of sweetness. I am a little upset that it took me so long to find this place. After living in the St. Johns neighborhood for 2 years now, I happen to see the listing on yelp and decided to check it out. The GF and I showed up on a Sunday night and was worried it wasn't open. There are no big flashing lights or large sign. After walking in, we were greeted by a very friendly cashier inside who was more then willing to help. We were the only people in their but the place was spotless and quiet. We ordered the 14" Italian sausage pizza and garlic knots. The garlic knots were incredibly fresh and melted in your mouth. They are served nice and hot and are more then enough food to feed 4 people before a pizza. My only recommendation for the knots would be that they needed more garlic. Not a major complaint though. The pizza on the other hand was absolutely amazing. Perfect amount of crust that was filled with flavor and crunchiness. Additionally, the sausage was spiced to perfection and made for a perfect pizza topping. I will definitely be coming back here again. read more

I am so picky about pizza. Once you've worked in a NY style pizza place and learned how to make it yourself it pretty much ruins delivery for you. UNTIL I found local slice. Holy shit. Perfect crispy but chewy crust, great sauce, great cheese. The first time we ordered there was a little too much cheese on the pizza but the second time it was PERFECT. Good salad too! Really impressed and will be ordering regularly. I just just return the pizza stone I got for Christmas. read more

This pizza has the best crust! My kids are simple; One likes cheese, the other is a pepperoni fan. Both pizzas were great. Their 18" large pizza is huge! Plenty available for leftovers. The sausage pepperoni calzone was also humongous. Other than being a bit greasy, it was delicious. We got the garlic knots one time and they were tasteless. It may have been a bad batch because others really liked them. We also enjoyed the cheese sticks. Definitely try them. This is our new go-to local pizza place. You won't be disappointed! read more

UPDATED REVIEW: during quarantine, I'd had an issue with a pizza that the management discovered and fixed immediately way above and beyond. Had a fabulous delicious meal tonight. Excellent New York style pizza right here in Austin. The lunch options are very affordable and I had a slice of pizza and a great salad. The pizza is not greasy and the crust is soft. It is a small shop so I'd get it to go if you have a large party. Luckily, we beat the lunch rush because all the tables were full as we were leaving. read more

LOVE this pizza. This is the second location I've tried & the friendly service and great quality pizza is the same as the other location! This location, I tried their margherita pizza which was really good- BUT note that they don't use red sauce on it... so if you like red sauce (I do), you might want to put in a special request so you're not disappointed when you get it! The artwork on the wall is awesome! Review of other location which pertains to this one too, so I'm copying and pasting below... this one is just slightly smaller seating-wise.... maybe 6-7 tables of 4 people each? The crust is SUPERB!!!! I actually ate all of my crust & I don't like crust (normally) The sauce and cheese-- YUM. I actually really want this for dinner now & I might have to go get some. What I tried: Whole hearted: artichoke, spinach, mushroom, roasted cherry tomato, green olives- really good combination & very flavorful for vegetarian pizza. I was a fan of this one but picked out the olives b/c I just don't like salt bombs. 5 hour hawaiian: pork belly & pineapple & basil. A change from the normal ham & pineapple. Definitely higher quality meat than ham... unfortunately, personally, I wasn't a HUGE fan of this change because sometimes cheap ham & pineapple taste good together. But I appreciated the quality in the ingredients. White pizza with several toppings I forget which ones but it was delicious Pepperoni & mushroom pizza: Classic, can't go wrong here. This is probably the best place in the crosspark area for state employees to eat at in terms of price, quality, and freshness of food. The pizza is constantly made fresh and the slices are HUGE! This is seriously some good pizza. I'm also glad that its really close to me. Its in one of those kinda hidden strip malls that you would keep riding past if ya didn't know any better. The pizza has a delicious tasting crust..like a previous poster, I normally give my puggles the crust, but when I eat one of these pizzas its tough luck for my boys! The sauce is a little sweet, but it doesn't take away from the balance of the taste. The marriage between the cheese, toppings , sauce and crust is on point. This is a favorite. read more

My husband and I went here right before heading to Asia for three weeks. We needed our pizza fix! Every ingredient tastes fresh. If you ask for one topping, they do not skimp out on it. One day I stumbled upon this place. It's kinda like a hole in the wall area. Typically those places are the best and sure enough I was right! This is coming from a person who was born and raised in the Bronx, New York and I have finally found a place out here that reminds me of NYC. Low-key one of the absolute best pizza places in Austin -- or restaurants for that matter! The staff is always so warm, friendly, and courteous. I had moved to a nearby apartment complex three years ago and was glad to have a pizza place around the corner. The fact that the pizza is so delicious was the proverbial cherry on the cake. Their specialty local faves are great! My go-to's are the Tuscan, the WholeHearted and the classic Margherita. I just picked up an order, can't review taste as ended up throwing away. Persons making my salad were not sanitary about it. First guy was sitting on counter with his phone, hopped down and went to get salad mix. Reached in with bear hand to grab salad. Told next guy to please remake, didn't see him grab another salad mix and had one glove on. Unsure if he ever put on another glove. His nails looked so filthy (like if grease was under them. I love this place. Sometimes I'll just walk around and get a pizza craving and ordering a margherita from Local Slice is my first thought. Especially during the past year, pizza night from Local Slice has been such a comfort for us. I think the garlic knots also hit the spot. They usually deliver to us pretty quick as well. I'm writing this review because we were going to make dinner tonight and realized our ingredients had spoiled - I said "should we just order pizza?" and my wife did not say "yeah, order it from xx" and name a place, she said "garlic knots and margherita" and now I am ordering from Local Slice because it is simply understood as our go-to spot now. Then menu itself was a bit confusing, so when one of us asked if it was possible, when ordering 10 pieces, to get 5 wings and 5 nuggets, she said YES. So, when we proceeded to order that way, she got all flustered and was like, no, no, no you can't do that! Oh, and then when we asked about any of our dishes coming with sides, only *then* did she suggest that we turn it into a combo. So, yeah, welcome to AI generation! (Needless to say, the two kids working were both on their phones a ton the whole time that we were there.) *It was cold outside and the A/C was on, so it was freezing. *Re. the K-Buffalo sauce: nothing very K about it! It was straight buffalo sauce. *Charging for a side of ranch sauce that clearly tasted like it came out of a bottle? Seriously? Lame-o. Other than the above complaints, we actually really liked this place. The vibe is chill and, as aforementioned, we enjoyed most of the food. The dumplings are 100% not homemade, but they toss them in a decent sauce so they can be more palatable (we would skip those). The fries are nice and crispy, and the brussels sprouts are excellent. So, so good, and a decent amount as well. The radishes are the typical ones you get at these joints, and they are a must. As for the main star, the chicken, it was as it should be: with shattering layers of breading and hot meat on the inside. The coating was almost a bit too thick, though. We liked the soy garlic sauce and just wished there was some actual Korean aspect to the buffalo. Prices were consistent with portions, and they do have respectable beers on draft. We have some quibbles, yes, so it's 3 stars for now, but we'll definitely be back because it's close to home and will hopefully have a more overall impressive experience next time.

Spicy Boys has four locations in the Austin area, with probably their most popular at Zilker Brewing. They are a spicy chicken establishment and their spicy chicken comes in different shapes and sizes from bone-in fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, and nuggets. I have only ever ordered their fried chicken sandwich and every time, I have been a fan. I always get their middle option in heat, the Hot Gai, which is sandwiched between the OG and the Tingly Gai. It hits every time. The mayonnaise, the pickles, the perfectly crisp chicken: you can't miss it. As a side, I ALWAYS without fail get their Tater Tots. They are consistently crispy while remaining soft on the inside. Sometimes I will get it seasoned with their Tingly Sichuan, but the heat is sometimes too much. I cannot recommend the tots enough. Spicy Boys is one of those places that is always there for you. They are consistently open and the people making the orders are putting a ton of dedication into making them smack every time. The sandwich alone comes at $9.50 with the tots at $3.50, which seems on par or slightly lower than a typical food truck if my memory serves me right. No big deal. But then I had been drinking Zilker Brewery's own beer. Out of self protection - my body may have turned off its sense of taste To protect me from the worse than mediocre Zilker beer. If the price of protection from Zilker beer was not being able to taste a chicken sandwich, I was definitely ahead of the game.
