OMG if you know anything about real Hawaiian food, this place really captures all of the signature dishes and elevated them to exceed my expectations. I lived in Hawaii for a few years and to learn that the owner is originally from there really made sense of why each dish did not disappoint! We wanted to order everything but there was only 3 of us so we had to stick to just these few dishes for now. We got fries and garlic shrimp as apps and then 2 of us ordered the longanisa moco and 1 ordered the bbq chicken all with garlic fried rice and let me just tell you that not one thing wasn't full of flavor and you could just tell they really put detail into every dish. The only thing that was a little confusing was finding the place as we went during off hours of only pick up and delivery so be mindful of that. You can have some of the items with drinks after 9pm at paper tiger. You have to enter the back parking lot through western Ave & then call to grab your order. You won't regret ordering extra dishes so you can try everything!

Beginner's guide to The Local Moco! . They use the kitchen out of Paper Tiger, so you're going to enter the parking lot from Western Ave right before Beverly. The owners brought hawaiian comfort to Ktown. Especially with the rain it's exactly what this city needs. You can't go wrong with any of the items. TheClassic: 5/5 they're loco moco is so juicy garnished with crispy shallots. It adds a nice texture to the mix. They always cook the egg to perfection. It comes with mac and side salad. Their Mac salad is something simple but hits hard. You can order additional on the side. I'm a saucy girl, so I always order extra gravy. If you're hesitant, go with their classic. Da Kine Breakfast: 5/5 Portuguese sausage over their garlic fried rice and fried egg (& side of Mac and side salad). The saltiness from the sausage with the garlic rice gives you a perfect bite. I always order this, so I can take it to work to for breakfast. TLM Musubi: 5/5 I'm always skeptical with musubi's cause some times there's too much rice to spam ratio or the spam is overly sauced. They did their math and found the golden ratio for it. Check them out. The owners are just as amazing as the food. It's my new go to spot for Sunday's or Monday's.

I was in the area and was in the mood for Hawaiian food and I saw this new business and decided to give it a try. I ordered The Local Moco's Loco moco is the best Loco moco I've had. The gourmet meat patty is very tasty, juicy, and the size is nice and healthy. The over easy egg was cooked to perfection, and the gravy to top it off was perfect as well. The mac salad was not too soft and not too hard, and I liked the small bits of celery and carrots in it that added some more texture to it. I upgraded the rice to the garlic fried rice option-- I definitely recommend this if you get this. I added a side of Portuguese sausage. I've had Portuguese sausage before, but this one tasted better than the ones I've got before and also the ones I've bought at the store. This must be a Hawaiian brand that we don't we don't see often on the mainland -- probably something more of what the "locals" eat in Hawaii because I've never had this before elsewhere. You can tell by the diameter of this, not the same as others. I also got a side of kalua pork, and boy, was that tasty as well! I'll definitely be back for more! Overall review: Food is on point, served in a timely manner and customer service is 100!

It's located south of the Alhambra arch, and they have a small parking lot next to the building. The outside and inside of the restaurant are really cute/cozy and make you feel like you are at a local diner in Hawaii. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and it's not the largest space, so prepare to wait in line a little bit if you come during prime weekend brunch hours. Staff are really nice and moved two tables together for us in the corner, and they have high chairs available for kids. We ordered two macademia nut pancakes and a breakfast plate with kalua pig and Portuguese sausage. My father-in-law also got a coffee (it's Folgers) to share with my husband. It was the perfect amount of food to share amongst the three of us, so you don't have to each order an entree because the portion sizes are huge. The pancakes and fluffy and chewy, and the custard and macademia nuts on top made it not-too-sweet and creamy. The kalua pig was so tender and melt in your mouth--a little bit salty but balanced out with the rice and egg. My only qualm was the paper plates that they gave us started tearing kind of quickly the moment it absorbed any oil from the food, so I had a hole in the middle of my plate that you could see the table through for half of the meal. But the food and vibes were immaculate (all three of us loved it), so maybe I'll bring my own plates next time. We will definitely be back!

While I was staring at the menu deciding whether I wanted to get anything, several people came and went with their orders and everyone told me to get the fried chicken. So, I went inside and got the fried chicken with macaroni salad. A few mintues later, I added a katsu musubi to the order. This is not fast-food. The wait is real. About 12 minutes. I then had probably about 10 minutes of driving before I sat down to eat. The fried chicken is delicious and has a great crispy/crunchy skin. There is a faint sweetness that coats the chicken. The meat was not super plump like some national-chain places (I think those places brine-injected the chicken). Depending on your preference, this might feel too dry to you. Their dipping sauce for the chicken is very tasty. If they just sold that in bottles, I'd come just to buy that for use at home! Speaking of preferences, the macaroni salad is also well made, but it's simple and might be disappointing if you're expecting some kind of flavor kick. I liked it very much, because it is in the style of the basic macaroni salad -- someone described it as going home to Hawaii for them -- and I think that's what it is. Portions were enough to split into two meals. So I had half of my chicken and the mac salad. I had planned to also only eat half of the musubi. But it was delicious and had a nice crunch which I'm sure would not have held up being kept in the fridge. I really enjoyed the musubi on its own, but also enjoyed taking turns with bites with that sauce added on. I stored the rest of the chicken and mac salad in the fridge and then had them for dinner 6 hours later. Despite being in the fridge, the chicken still had a bit of a crunchy bite to it - it wasn't a mushy soggy mess. Very friendly service. This is not a sit-down place you go to for a dining experience - just a solid place to get food to go that will be delicious. Now that I've had the fried chicken that everyone seems to recommend, I'm looking forward to trying the rest of their menu.

The lady at the counter was super sweet and made small talk with me. I got my order which came out to $17.12 after tax. Food-wise, the fried chicken was indeed delicious! I loved the batter: it was shatteringly crisp. The chicken was tender and flavored well, but I loved the sauce that came with it! For the mac salad, I thought it was just okay. It tasted a bit plain from other mac salads I've tried, but the noodles were cooked perfectly. For the price, the portion size is okay, but I'm not complaining since the food was good. Overall, the friendly service and fried chicken is what makes me want to come back again! I definitely want to try their other offerings too. Would recommend!

They're generally cheaper than local restaurants, so I don't tend to be too picky. But today, I experienced one of the best customer service moments I've ever had! I placed my order online but got caught up with something and ended up arriving an hour late to pick it up. When I got there, the cashier noticed that my order had been sitting for an hour and kindly asked if I'd like them to remake it or heat it up for me. Wow! I was genuinely surprised by such a thoughtful gesture, especially at a chain restaurant where I would never expect that level of care. It's such a simple thing, but it really made my day! As for the location, there are quite a few offices nearby, so lunchtime can get busy. Although the parking lot has plenty of spaces, finding one close to the restaurant during the lunch rush can be a challenge. Inside, there are probably around eight tables, which seems sufficient since most customers are office workers grabbing a quick bite before heading back to work. The ambiance is pretty typical for a casual chain restaurant--nothing fancy, but clean, simple, and practical. One thing worth mentioning: based on my previous visits, ordering in person usually means waiting at least 10-15 minutes. That's why I often end up going to a nearby fast-food place instead, or simply ordering online ahead of time. Overall, the food may be what you'd expect from a chain restaurant, but the customer service today was anything but ordinary. It's rare to experience such genuine thoughtfulness, and I truly appreciated it. Sometimes, it's the little things that leave the biggest impression!

I believe when they say lunch you can order this plate all day. And to use the promo, you will need to order online and use the promo code. The ordering took awhile for me because the sign in process took forever (not the restaurants fault) but once I ordered they gave me a time, so I showed up around the time. I think all of SGV had the same idea because there were sooo many people ordering and picking up. The problem I had with the restaurant is that they were way understaffed for this promo day, so if you're not there when your order is called, then they won't call it again. So, you kind of have to flag down the employee (who is also trying to a million other things) and it's hard. I got lucky cuz I had 2 seperate orders and right when I came in they called one of my order and I waited about a minutes for my other order. I would definitely suggest getting there a little earlier to make sure you hear your name called. Aside from the ordering and picking up experience, for a promo lunch plate, it was pretty good deal. I got the Hawaiian plate and they gave me tons of chicken and side. Chicken also was pretty juicy for a fast food place. I definitely will be back to Ono.
