One of my parting gifts from my career at Art Series Hotels in Melbourne was a night at any Art Series hotel with breakfast for two included. As The Watson was the last one on my list to stay at, and I had recently moved to Adelaide, I was delighted to be able to use my voucher.
The Hotel stay was Ok, and I was looking forward to breakfast. A ton of past guests raved about the great coffee (roasted on premises) and delightful food, reminiscent of the laneway cafes I so loved in Melbourne.
I was sorely disappointed when it took 15 minutes after being seated, to have our coffee orders taken, and another 10 minutes for our food to be ordered. Our coffee arrived AFTER our meals, and I hate to say, it was undrinkable. I was really disappointed as the coffee was talked up so much by everyone I spoke to. I couldn't even finish it
My partner ordered a big breakfast, he reported it was average, loved the chorizo (which he paid extra for) but the serving size was so small (I think it was $4 more for a few small slices) Could have bought a full stick for the price! The bread was quite chewy as well
I ordered the smashed avo on sourdough with a side of mushrooms. Again a small serving, the smashed avo was nice but the bread was a chore to get through.
I am glad that I didn't actually have to pay for breakfast as I would have certainly voiced my complaints directly, however for the price we paid it was decent (free)
I was more disappointed in the coffee more than anything!!!! Maybe I just got them on an off day (one of the staff members was visibly late and rushed so perhaps they were short-staffed!) read more
