Suckling pig

I'm long due to write a review about Lobster Port. This is a new gem I've found for dim sum. I came here with families and friends several times for dim sum. They offer great quality and variety here with great value for money (less than $30 per person). I haven't found any single dim sum dishes that I didn't like at Lobster Port so far. It's always a long lineup during weekends although they have lots of seatings. Recently, I tried their Chinese New Year dinner here. You have to make reservations well in advance to secure a spot and there's a 2-hour time limit for dine-in. The overall experience was still impressive even on this busiest day of the year for the restaurant. We ordered the combo c at $318, a combo with a good balance of nutrition and varieties (seafood, meat, veggie, soup, desserts). Everything was delicious except that the suckling pig was too dry. The soy sauce chicken tasted very tender and flavourful. Pork tongue soup was very flavourful too. Lobsters and live water fish were both super fresh and cooked perfectly. Veggie was also not overcooked. For desserts, we had quite some varieties too (mango pudding, Chinese cookie and sweet dumpling soup with dates and white fungus). I strongly recommend this restaurant to any of you who loves Cantonese food.

A Chinese restaurant that serves dim sum lunch and Chinese family style dinner dishes. The food here is good and server was great. Here's what we got: Peking duck 5/5 - Delicious, fresh crispy duck skin with wrappers and accompaniments. Fish maw soup 5/5 - Came in a large dish prior to being split into individual bowls. Delicious, lots of fish maw and made perfectly into a thick soup. Lobster 5/5 - Cooked perfectly in any style you want - maggie, onion and garlic, steamed, etc. Sea cucumber & mushrooms 4/5 - Good but not one of my favourite dishes. Deep fried beef cubes 4/5 - At first glance the beef was raw (based on photo), but realized since it's beef, the texture was great and cooked perfectly with just a bite. Overall, a great dinner spot for Chinese family style food.

Visited here for dim sum for their promo for early bird special. Mon-Fri before 11am, all small, medium and large dim sum items for $5.80, cash payment only, exclude weekend and holidays. Special discount must checked out before 12:30pm. Ordered their beef satay stir fried rice noodles and the rice noodles was chewy. Great texture and delicious satay sauce. NOTE: They now opted the menu to chicken instead of beef. This dish is only $17 during lunch specials. Shrimp rice rolls was fresh and good rice roll mixture mix to create smooth rice rolls. Has baby chives inside. Spring rolls are freshly deep fried served hot to your table and very crispy. Even the outer nest shell was very cripsy. Deep fried honey lemon beef short ribs was yummy. Great beef flavour with a hint of sweetness marinate. Curry octopus was flavourful and the curry sauce was tasty. I would use it to dip it in my siu mai for added flavour lol. Steamed pork dumpling (siu mai) was juicy and yummy filled with shrimps inside. Good portion size. Chicken feet in chu hou sauce was slightly spicy and the chicken feet was solf and flavourful. It has black beans and red peppers mixed into the marinate sauce. Deep fried octopus tentacles was tender and cripsy. This place is known to serve delicious dim sums and I've tried their lobster efu noodles and other fried noodles dishes are excellent too.

Another great Chinese seafood restaurant. Great service and delightful dishes. No complains at all. They even have a tea warmer pot. They renovated and created some rooms from the previous restaurant which was great. Overall I'd come back to try other dishes.

Another excellent Chinese restaurant worth visiting. Went here for dinner with family and everything we ordered was delicious. We had a 6 lb lobster served two ways -- spicy, and fried with garlic and ginger, along with peking duck, hot and sour soup, steamed bass, and cantonese chow mein. The meal ended with complimentary osmanthus jelly and cookies, which was a nice touch. The service was fantastic; our waitress was very attentive and made great recommendations. The restaurant was packed, but we were lucky to get a private room, which made the dining experience even better.

Came here for a Chinese New Year sponsored lunch. Food is not bad! The crispy roast port was done well! They served and switched each plate for EACH DISH that came out. Speaks to good service, I felt like they would have a lot of dishes after though. It is pretty loud in the restaurant as it is mainly a dim sum place.

The Peking duck and lobster menu ($528) easily feeds ten and begins with one of our favourite dishes, a Peking duck. It's carefully sliced table side and presented with a host of garnishes: traditional hoisin, cucumber, and green onion, but also cantaloupe and plum sauce as well. The duck was lean but tender and the skin crispy without being too fatty. Their wraps are on the smaller site - so it's difficult to put more than a slice of duck if you're a fan of garnishes - but they did provide ~16 wrappers, so it was enough for most people to get a second. Restaurants tend to offer either lettuce wraps or chopped up duck for the second course of the Peking duck. At Lobster Port, they switch it up by cutting the carcass into bite sized pieces and stir frying them to create a sautéed duck with scallion in soy sauce. It radiates wok hay, and the sweet soy makes the bony duck so tasty that we finished the dish. During busy weekend visits, you may have to serve the fresh crab meat and fish maw thick soup yourself, as was the case with our table. In this instance, I would have preferred the soup in a deep bowl as the large shallow dish makes spooning difficult. Nonetheless, the soup was good, a nice consistency with tons of seafood scattered throughout and enough flavour. Of course, most patrons visit Lobster Port for lobster and the stir-fried lobster with Maggi sauce didn't disappoint, all six pounds of it. Rather than providing one large lobster, the dish was made from three smaller ones. Personally, I don't mind this combination as I find the shell isn't as thick and the meat more succulent. Plus, there are more claw and tail pieces to go around. This is a long review, for the rest go to Gastro World.

First time coming to this restaurant after it changed name. It seems like everyone walking through the door on that Sunday had a reservation, so I would recommend making one too. The interior and utensils of the restaurant had a modern up-scale vibe, unlike its predecessor. We got the 3-4 people set which included XX lbs lobster with e-fu noodles, chicken congee and 4 dim sum of our choice. We got siu mai, har gow, shrimp rice roll and grilled octopus. It was definitely a lot of food for 4 hungry adults and therefore this meal will be good for up to 5 people as well. This set includes a 2.5lbs lobster, which I think is a great size for lunch. The staff brought us the live lobster to take a look, and informed us it was slight over 2.5lbs and therefore had to pay a bit extra based on the overweight amount. I really appreciated that they try to get it as close to 2.5 lbs as possible instead of overselling us. Overall the food quality was great - everything was served hot. The lobster tasted fresh with minimal "muddy" flavour. The congee had the right balance of flavour - not too bland or overly salty. The most surprising fact is that the shrimp siu mai came in the typically size you get in HK (e.g. about 3/4 of the size of what you get in typical Toronto restaurants). And to compensate for the size reduction when compared to other Toronto restaurants, the steamer contains 5 siu mai instead of 4. We definitely had a great experience and would come here again for more up-scale dim sum.

Visited Lobster Port twice recently, once for a wedding banquet, and once for regular dim sum. Both visits were exceptional. Service was fantastic on both visits. Dim sum day is typical, they don't really bother you/check up on you unless you flag them down. But, our server from the wedding banquet remembered us and came to say hi, also gave us their loyalty perks ("free tea" and a small %discount), which was super sweet. Food was exceptional for the wedding banquet! They were on the good side for their regular dim sum food compared to other places I used to frequent (most other places have gone down in quality post-covid.) Restaurant hall is mid size but in our current economy post covid, I think it's a good size. They have a few small private rooms by the entrance, these were used as a dedicated photo area and children's room for the wedding banquet. Photos are from wedding banquet only.

Located on the northwest corner of John and Woodbine. There is a large parking lot with limited accessible parking spots. The food is more canton based dim sum with a large offering of items. The service is attentive but could get busy and requires some time to flag down a server. The decor is nice with many private rooms for functions.

I visited Lobster Port for a set dinner recently, I was seated at a table of 10 people. We had the lobster/crab leg set menu. The food was quite good, I was a big fan of the crab legs, and everything was seasoned very well. The serving sizes are average. The restaurant itself is very modern and comforting, it seemed that a reservation was definitely needed as it was very crowded at the time of my visit (5pm Sunday). I found the service to be very good, the waiters were very attentive and food was brought out/portioned out quickly.

Really enjoyed our meal here. The lobster, Hong Kong style was exceptional. My husband had the chicken basil in a pot.

In Markham, you can get by speaking only Chinese, and here's another stellar example to prove it. This new spot just opened on Canada Day 2024. The name? Sounds just like any other Chinese seafood restaurant, but once you're there, who really cares about the name, right? LOL. We waited about 40 minutes for a table, which taught us the hard way that we should've called and made a reservation a day earlier. Next time, we'll be smarter. We went for dim sum, and I have to say, it was pretty darn good. The service was efficient, and the place is brand spanking new, clean, and bright. The owner also runs Moon Palace in downtown TO, so they know a thing or two about running a restaurant. The day we visited, the place was packed. They have many large tables for big groups, but not too many small tables for parties of less than four. So, beware if you're planning a more intimate meal - you might feel like you've crashed a family reunion. Overall, the dim sum was delish, and the service was solid. We'll definitely be back for dinner. Just remember to make that reservation!

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.
