It's a regular lunch/ dinner place with homey comfort food. They steam the rice in clay pot right after your order and hence the wait for food needs 15 mins. It's worth the wait. The rice with Chinese sausage and meat makes the rice cooked in aroma. It comes with steam soup with no salt and msg. You add the salt to your liking. It also has the veggies on the side. $15 is very worth . Lots of parking.

This is a family run restaurant that consists of the husband/wife/ grandma and daughter. I came last night for dinner with my parents and we ordered the original casserole with preserved meat, one with sticky rice and the other with normal rice and also a chicken casserole. All meals come with soup and veggies on the side which are not salted. You have to salt those yourself. The food and portion were good. The crispyness at the bottom of the casserole which is the most important came out really crispy! I will definitely come back however service can be better.

Overall good value. Our second time here visiting Toronto and the food was good tasting. Don't expect high quality customer service but you get what you pay for. 2 casseroles were enough for our party of 4. The mushroom and chicken was good. The 4 treasures didn't have a lot of eel but still good. The beef and egg was okay.

Very popular chain in the GTA. Huge fan of Bowl Kee and this was recommended. Busy restaurant with ample seating. Order: Chicken and Mushroom Rice, Pork and Corn Rice Noodle roll. Each rice meal comes with soup and green veg. The soup is pretty bad, basically water. Not sure if this is a thing or what but not good. The rice is very well done, a bit greasy but that lets you easier get all the crispy bits off the pot. Lots of chicken and good amount of rice, top it off with the sweet soy sauce. The rice noodle roll was also very good, the noodle was nice and smooth. This place offers fantastic value and you can create your own custom rice. Will definitely be back!

Delicious made to order clay pot rice! Came here for one thing only, their clay pot rice! Each pot is made to order so expect to have a little bit of a wait since it needs to be cooked from scratch. I got the preserved meats clay pot rice and pork rice clay pot rice. Both were definitely at 5/5! Each clay pot rice comes with a side of steamed vegetable and soup. Tip that I learned afterwards is that the soup is unseasoned so you're suppose to put your own salt in it (I was wondering why it was so bland). I came with a senior so asked if they had any scissors to cut up the vegetables. Although they didn't have scissors to share, they were kind enough to help us chop up the vegetables into smaller pieces! What great service! One clay pot rice is more than enough per person. Don't forget to scrap the pot after you finish the rice to get the crispy rice pieces that are nice and crunchy! At around $13 per clay pot rice that comes with one vegetable and soup, I'd say it's pretty bang for your buck!

This is a small but very cleanly maintained restaurant serving Cantonese casserole. Menu is very limited, which is good for me who has difficulty to choose.:;) The staff is very friendly and fast , seated me down immediately. All casseroles come with a soup and small vegetables, and the rice is well prepared with crispy bottom, which is exactly how it supposed to be.

If you're looking for the best of the best, this is not the place. However, Good Taste Casserole Rice is what you are looking for in a warm, hearty, stomach-filling, and comfortable place to relax, catch up with friends and family. The rice dishes are served in clay pots and comes with a soup and vegetable side dish. The soup is a little bland but it's hot and it's soothing on a cold day. When you're done with eating and there's those perfectly burnt and crunchy rice bits and pieces stuck to the bottom of the pot, you can request hot water to break it down into a rice soup. Or you can just scrape it out with the rice scooper which is a utensil served alongside the pot. All in all, definitely a staple for nostalgia or a casual meal.

The clay pot meals here are astounding and unbelievably great values. I'll go with 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 for our late dinner for a party of 6. We arrived at about 9:15pm and with their weekday closing time of 10pm, we wisely called ahead and had our clay pot dinners prepped and ready for when we stepped in. The clay pot meals come with a small veggie dish and a small soup. The clay pots themselves are good sized, and bigger than we expected, making them exceptional values. We had: Clay pot with preserved meat and BBQ eel, $12.99 CD or $9.62 USD Clay pot with preserved meat and chicken, $11.99 CD or $8.88 USD Clay pot with preserved meat and minced pork, $11.99 CD or $8.88 USD We also order 4 other dishes: Rice rolls with shrimp and egg, $4.99 CD Rice rolls with mushroom and corn, $4.50 CD A couple of Chinese broccoli dishes, $6.99 CD each My only little knock from 5 stars was that though the clay pots were delicious, they weren't as deeply flavorful and aromatic as the best we've ever had. A touch of their light soy sauce was needed to give it that boost to the top. I've had the best clay pots in Hong Kong and the best have that delicious soy flavor cooked deeply into the rice. Overall, that's a minor knock and I would highly recommend this place as one in the excellent cheap eats category. Service was attentive and efficient also.

Good Taste Casserole Rice .... yes the name of this Asian casual no frills eatery implies exactly their specialty!! If you are a lite eater , one casserole is enough for two. Rice casserole is topped with meat and cooked in a clay pot locking in flavours from meat into the rice. So fragrant and tasty ... love the crunchy rice at the bottom of the pot. Each one is cooked fresh to order... so be prepared to wait about 20 minutes. It's worth the wait tho!! Every order comes with a clear herbal soup served hot in a small traditional ceramic pot and a side of veggies. I come here regularly, since this is the kind of comfort food that my mom craves for. This time, we ordered the Salted Fish with minced Pork ($11.99) and Preserved Meat with 2 pieces of Grilled Eel ($12.99). Excellent value here!! Both were very tasty. A great place for hearty rice pots! It's my kind of comfort.

Good Taste Casserole Rice - Chinese Sausage & BBQ Eel in Claypot Rice with vegetables & soup, great meal and terrific (nutritious) value

Good Taste Casserole is really good! This second location is clean, spacious and well-setup in the busy Bamburgh Plaza. It had no weekend lunch lineup when we visited. Their specialty is the casserole rice as you could've guessed. This HK style claypot rice bowl comes piping hot with your choice of toppings. I ordered a triumvirate of Chinese Sausages & BBQ Eel in the Claypot Rice. With a dash of soy sauce, this salty, savoury & sweet profile is one that I've enjoyed as a kid. Rice was perfectly cooked with crispy rice padding the bottom of the bowl. This also came with a generous plate of Chinese broccoli in Hoisin sauce, and a refreshing light chicken soup. This was a hearty meal with nutritious value. I can see why it's a classic dish for many on chilly days. For whatever reason, my wife preferred to order noodles that are on the new items menu. It was her usual order of Beef Brisket Noodles. She seemed satisfied but compared to my meal, the noodle broth was light on flavour & rather bland. The rice noodles were ordinary, and could use the table condiments for extra salt & sauce. Better yet, just stick with the plethora of claypot rice options. I used to frequent Bamburgh Plaza and wish I still did, just to be able to dine here more regularly. It's still a convenient location for weekend grocery runs near Steeles Ave on the borderline of Toronto & York. For families, a bowl of claypot rice from Good Taste Casserole is a nice way to start the weekend.

I really enjoyed the Casserole dishes. They provide a lot portion wise and include Chinese broccoli. All 3 dishes were winners. We did receive a bone broth soup, but you'll need to season it to your taste. Overall this was a great place, but I will advise come with cash as they don't take credit.

The expansion of Good Taste Casserole House out of Markham and into Scarborough has made it easier for me to tuck into the comforting dish. And their expanding menu keeps the hunger growls at bay while the 20-minutes elapse. Their BBQ pork rice noodle roll ($4.70) was a great 'appetizer' to share, soft and silky with large slices of pork- even though it wasn't the most evenly spread out across the roll. I'm perplexed how some restaurants continue to keep prices low with soaring input costs. Good Taste offers their preserved meat and chicken with rice for $11.99, which is only a dollar more than 5 years prior. They haven't skimped on ingredients - if anything there's more protein topping the rice - and it still comes with a side of boiled yu-choy and a pot of soup where the hunk of pork, fruit, and white fungus remains. The execution continues to satisfy: the rice a balanced moisture so that it's fluffy but still dry enough so a golden crunchy crust develops on the bottom. While I'm normally not a huge fan of the greasiness of preserved meat, it's the perfect topping in this dish and keeps the rice from getting soggy. In fact, it actually tasted better than the chicken, which was over marinated causing the texture to be too 'springy' (or song in Cantonese) for my taste.

Great value for clay pot rice, it also comes with a soup and veggies all for $12.99! It satisfied my craving but I wish there was more to it. The rice lacked flavour and I wanted more of that crispy crust which the rice didn't really have. #1 preserved meats & eel rice : 3.5/5 #39 spare ribs and chicken feet with rice: 3.5/5 Overall the value for what you get really gives them 4/5.

There were so many dishes I started losing track. LOL. I also don't know all the names of the dishes as I didn't see the menu. One of the dishes was a fried lobster. They showed the lobster to us (poor lobster) before cooking it. The lobster tasted really good but I'm not used to handling lobster in its shell. LOL. There was a pumpkin soup which I couldn't eat since it had dairy in it. Another dish was a Peking duck with rice paper wraps, cucumber & green onions. This was my favourite dish. Delicious, yummy & simple to eat. Another dish was chicken (I didn't taste that one). We also had a fried rice which was so yummy. Then there was a dish with scallops, oysters, pork & seaweed surrounding it. I tried the scallops & they were delicious. There was another duck dish but this time the duck was chopped into little pieces with some Dessert was a yogurt / jelly type of thing which I can't eat due to my dairy intolerance. Service was really great. I'm not sure if that's because I was at a table full of Chinese people though. LOL. The dishes came quickly & they just kept coming! We had tiny plates to eat from so after the lobster we got clean plates. For the fried rice we had the servers separate it into bowls for everyone. Since we couldn't finish all the food we had them wrap up the leftovers & we took it back with us. Myself & another co-worker split up the leftovers between us since no one else wanted it. Ambiance: The restaurant had some nice lunar new year decorations up. It was pretty. Located inside the Atrium on the Bay this is an easy location to get to. The location was the site of a former restaurant called Spring Rolls. It still looks the same the only thing that changed were the tables & chairs. The washrooms are downstairs in the lowest level of the restaurant. It was hard for me to get down there because my knees are really stiff & painful. It would've been nice if they had a handicap washroom on the main level. The food was delicious & service was attentive. I thought the special lunar new year meal we chose was too much food for six people. I would've been happy with dim sum. Also the washrooms being in the basement was an inconvenience for me. Those who are mobility challenged will have the same issue.

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

New Century will feed a large group. Their lobster, Dungeness crab, and sea bass combo for eight…read more($798) would satisfy ten or twelve. The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.
