Worst experience ever on 12/29! There was a very rude male staff member preparing food items. I watched him make my food with no gloves abs his mask down around his neck, huffing and puffing and offering curt responses to customers. Best Coffee in Vail- As a long time local and avid coffee drinker, there is nothing more important to me than knowing where I can find a good cup of joe (ha!) in the morning before work. This place takes the cake for sure. 2. Good Beer Selection- It doesn't matter if you want an IPA, Amber, or Porter, they will have a great local beer ready for you. 3. AMAZING Service- Phoebe, Albert, Eli and Steve always make you feel right at home when you walk in the door. They're friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help if you have questions about the menu. They also know how to crank out your orders when it gets busy! 4. Boozie Hot Drinks- Ever get done with a long day of skiing and just want to enjoy a hot cup of cocoa but need something a bit stronger? Well, Joes has got you covered with a bunch of delicious boozie hot drinks that will make your day. 5. Laid Back Atmosphere- Vail is a pretty "uppity" resort town, so it's nice to have a relaxed place to come hang out after being on the mountain or work. We came here on a Sunday during the farmers market and they were quite busy, I understand that for the line not to get backed up they have to take your order as fast as possible but it felt very rushed. I did ask if I could get my breakfast sandwich on a bagel, which must be something of annoyance that they get asked a lot because the girl taking our order was not happy and let me know that they don't do bagel sandwiches, no big deal I took the $9 sandwich the way it comes, I also got a small latte and they do remind you that it comes in an 8oz cup which is very small, my boyfriend got a mocha and breakfast burrito that was $11 and for the sauce they use a spicy ketchup instead of a salsa or green chili which was awful and he couldn't finish it. I don't mean to sound entitled but when spending $30 on two drinks and two to go breakfasts, you just expect better. read more

Need a pick me up after or before the slopes? Look down for Loaded Joe's. No literally, look down... it's in the basement of a building. Inside the small space are about 4 bar stool seats and a little bit of area to stand. Look for the coffee menu on the support pole in the middle of the room instead of on the wall behind the counter. I totally missed it! Otherwise I may have ordered something other than chai latte. But it was a happy mistake, because that chai was decent. Plus, they made it with almond milk (take that Starbucks!). Can't speak for any food other than the croissant I ordered. It was as expected. Price is what you expect in Vail. I wasn't surprised. Ain't like your gonna order off the dollar menu here. Warning: Bathroom is teeeeeeny tiny. I am personally not a fan of this place, but my boyfriend really liked it. We came here for breakfast and I got the breakfast burrito with a few substitutions, and it was very mediocre. They don't have avocado so I got guacamole which was a mistake, it's really just not the same. Then I got the strawberry banana smoothie which honestly just tasted like nesquick strawberry milk. I was not impressed and wouldn't come back. However, the waitstaff was very friendly. This place is complicated. Is it a coffee bar? Beer? Liquor? Smoothies? Random food? Juice? Sure, why not! We got a smoothie that was $7 and tasted very off, like an ingredient was spoiled. We brought it back after walking out and politely approached the man at the counter and said the smoothie wasn't great could we please get a different one. Another guy came over and very aggressively told us it's exactly how a healthy smoothie tastes. It was a bummer of an encounter and we didn't enjoy it. Walked by this place several times without even realizing it since it hides in its little underground corner but once I found it I didn't want to leave it! Snug and mellow with its delicious coffee and full bar! We started with coffee but then switched to harder stuff. We weren't skiing that day so we beat the après rush and got a spot at the little bar. When the skiers showed up for their après ski shots we had already been there for a few hours enjoying the wifi and atmosphere so we cleared out. I would have loved to stay longer or have come back for the late night bingo, but sadly had to go pack up. I got a hot chocolate using a coupon, and I wanted to upgrade the small to a large. I was about to get charged $2.95 even though the difference was $1.50 (small is $3, large is $4.50). I questioned this, and they told me their system couldn't just charge for the upgrade. If that's the case, why was my card taken and a random amount charged? So I said I'll just take the small, and then the person swiped my card for $3.25, which was very strange. I looked at him very oddly, and then he realized he wasn't supposed to charge me and gave me cash for the amount he swiped. He gave me $3. $3, not $3.25 that he swiped. It's only a quarter, but what kind of business makes a mistake (or two, rather) and then takes their customers' money? Dishonest twice in a very short amount of time, and also the hot chocolate wasn't good at all. There was a layer of powder at the bottom and the hot chocolate was very sugary. She said, "Oh my g-d, Loaded Joe's down those stairs, get the Spanish Coffee, it's the best"! I thanked her and headed over. Solely based this rating off coffee So (being a Seattle guy) I was really excited to hear that they serve Rococo. I get there and it seemed like they knew very little about the coffee they were serving. That's fine, but the coffee wasn't. The barista explained to me that there isn't really a need for top quality coffee in Vail so they mostly serve large batch blends. I was beyond disappointed. I'm sure Rococo is an amazing roaster (sad I've never had a chance to try them) but the coffee was extraordinarily disappointing. The barista also told me that they used to serve single-origin so I'm sure it was once great. This place gets three stars because my barista was nice and took the time to discuss it with me, but I'd never drink coffee here unless they make some big changes. read more

We took a pit stop for coffee at Vail on our way from Glenwood to Denver. Most of the places were closed maybe because of the snow storm. This was the only place open. So, it's not coolest place in Vail, however, if you are looking for a great cup of coffee or a yummy homemade sandwich that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg, then you should stop here. It's on Bridge street, right after you come through the covered bridge on your right, down stairs, just across from the river. Just look for the sign. There are two picnic tables outside to enjoy your coffee, pastry, or lunch that face the river. Or you can eat in a dimly lit, tiny, kind of grimy looking little coffee shop. Come on, it's Vail COLORADO!
