I had a tea from the store. It was very hot and decent flavor. I did buy some coffee to take home. The person at the register didn't ask if I wanted it ground. Oh how I hesitate to leave this review. Because I just want this coffee shop to stay as chill as it is everytime I go in. I don't want others to know about it. It is the perfect, perfect spot to truly enjoy an amazing pour-over and read and study and look out the windows at the beauty of the mountains. I wanted a coffee shop that was easy to drive to from Vail Village and had a parking lot. Ended up driving here (about 10 min) every morning for the entire week I was in Vail. They open up early which was nice. Was a great way to start the day, grab a latte and something to eat and sit for a bit. Mostly locals there. Very nice mountain feel. Me and two friends stopped by there last Thursday while skiing at Beaver Creek. All three of us were pleasantly surprised at just how good the coffee was. Too often, when you're eating/drinking in a very touristy spot, the location seems to take priority over the quality of the food. Not the case here. We made a point of taking note of this spot and will be sure to stop there again on any and all future coffee breaks when skiing at Beaver Creek. The coffee here is amazing!!! I always get the same thing when I visit. Mocha, 16oz, oat milk, 4 shots of espresso. I was going every Saturday until the virus, and they had my order down to a T as soon as I walked in. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and always smiling. This place was flippin' awesome! We stopped in for coffee and breakfast on our road trip from Colorado to Oregon. I had a mocha and a spinach and feta croissant- wow. The croissant was so buttery with perfect layers, and the mocha was just the right balance. We also got some beignets that were made in France. Everything was delightful, and the interior had an awesome atmosphere. You could see into the roasting area, and they had lots of cool brewing devices in the shop. read more

What a sham. We had many places to choose from on a Sunday afternoon and chose a local spot instead of Starbucks. The guy repeated over and over again how tired he was and that he was working alone. He asked us to repeat our order so many times, we requested he write it down (iced dirty chai is not so rare?!). Then, when we asked for a straw, he said "they're bad for the environment so we give you a sippie cup instead." I replied, "LIKE A TODDLER?" He said they had no straws on the premises. I'm all for environmentally conscious but 1. there are compostable straws readily available for sale on the market and 2. If a coffee shop won't have straws for free, why not sell recycled plastic or glass or stainless steel straws? I would have totally paid $10 for a reusable straw. The service was bad. The drink was bad. And we threw our drinks in the garbage to go to Starbucks. I'm a local. The owner needs to do better. read more

I visited the cafe/roastery location in Minturn while passing through as a tourist. I met one of the owners, and got a tour of the roasting facility just because I asked and he obliged. What a wonderful guy and company, in addition the coffee was absolutely fantastic. The smaller facility means the beans are roasted just minutes before they grind and brew them. Since my visit in person I have been ordering whole beans online from their website, and when they arrive they have the date of roasting on the bag, and are always super fresh and delicious. This is how to run a company, and the care they take comes through in the coffee they serve. What a wonderful experience to have at a small business. I will visit again one day, but in the meantime I'll be ordering online regularly! read more

Was in Vail snowboarding and saw this shop, looked like third wave coffee but definitely wasn't. The barista asked me if I liked dry or wet foam, and scalded the milk to probably 170 degrees. Vail Mountain coffee has the best cup of coffee in the valley... but their location is less than perfect for anybody west of Avon. This place is definitely my go-to for coffee in the valley and they have consistently been a locals favorite for decades. I usually order a pour over and it's always finished quick and the end product is delicious. Vail Mtn Coffee brews with Chemex, siphon, regular pour-over and drip, so if that's your thing, this place is home. Their espresso is very tasty and their espresso based drinks are yummy. Also be sure to try their nitro cold brew (on tap). All coffee is roasted in-house which creates such an inviting aroma. The baristas are genuine, kind and care about your experiences. The seating is cozy and inviting. The small snack offering are delicious (go for the beignets). All around, Vail Mountain coffee roasters is the place for amazing coffee and a comfortable place to enjoy company or get some work done! read more

After having far too many single origin beans from the top boutique roasters in America, I can't say that those of Vail Mountain can hold a candle to the quality of roasters in Portland and San Francisco. Surprisingly, the beans are not terribly bitter for being in a grocery store and roasted long ago. Though VMCR doesn't find its way into the bigger network of artisan roasters of America used in classy shops, it is really good for local Coloradans. read more

A little out of the way if you're in Beaver Creek or Vail, but worth the drive. With the roastery being onsite, you get a lot more options to see, smell, taste coffee varietals than you would anywhere else. Knowledgeable barista with all the espresso drinks as well as manual pour overs, French press, siphon, etc. We had a pour over, cappuccino, and macchiato...all were good. I tried their nitro cold brew this morning at one of the restaurants that carries it... it's ok. It doesn't have a ton of flavor, the notes you do get are high and sour which are tasty if you like lighter roasts. You have to look for the finish, it's on the back of the tongue and somewhat deep but doesn't linger at all. You're mainly left with the sour citrus that makes me want to brush my teeth or eat something else to get rid of it. All in all I probably won't bother ordering it again though it is better than everything Starbucks sells. read more

I'll be back - for I could sit in the Roastery Cafe for hours, sipping yummy drinks and gazing up onto Meadow Mountain.
