I hope this review serves as a warning to future consumers about LillyK Photography and its' owner, Isa Battaglin. This woman is extremely deceitful! Please don't do the mistake of settling for the rave comments on IG and reviewing her website, do your research before hiring her!! I usually am very good with this sort of research, but I let myself be consumed by the IG reviews. Don't make that mistake because she has taken me for a ride since June. I booked her for my daughter, for a photoshoot in NYC for June 18.
Isa never delivered the photos. After not hearing from her in over 3 weeks, I contacted her to follow up on the initial photo reviews. She then informed me that while in Italy all her equipment was stolen. She said she was going to try to recover the photos and get back to me... 3 weeks had gone by and absolutely no words from Isa. I send her an email to follow up and only at that time she tells me the photos were not recoverable. Meanwhile 2 other girls who had a photoshoot on the same day - where I had observed her using the same memory card - were featured on her IG page. I started becoming suspicious of the excuse provided to me but decided to not do much about it. All I asked Isa was for a refund since I was not going to get my photos. She agreed on the refund. After 2 weeks of no refund, I follow up with her to inquire about it.
On August 11th, (3 days after my last refund inquiry) she replies to offer me a new photoshoot in NYC on September 22nd or September 23. It was an easy decision to say yes given that I liked her style of photography and she already had my money. I replied to her email confirming that my daughter would be reshooting with her in NYC on September 22nd. In the email, I also note to her that I hope her communication style will be more transparent and although I was disappointed with how she handled communicating I would not get my daughter's photos from her alleged stolen equipment, I was willing to give her another shot.
Now, fast forward to September 10th, I receive an email from Isa. She writes, and I quote "I am confirming that we are shooting on October 12 or October 13". My reaction is "WHAT?!?" I never talked about an October booking with her, what the heck is she talking about "CONFIRMING". I replied to her immediately and referred her back to the email from our previous agreement to reshoot on September 22nd. I also let her know that using the word confirming implies we had a prior discussion about October 12 and 13, which we never did. Again, I let her know that her style of communication is very deceptive. She replies to me to let me know that she had to change the booking because received an email from Air Canada informing her they were canceling flights for September 22 and 23 because of bad weather. Now, remember that her email was on September 10. No major airline will cancel flights 10 days before departure because of weather - completely absurd! The second reason she enumerates in her reply is that she did not have enough bookings to warrant a trip to NYC. Although a valid reason, her trying to pretend that we had an initial discussion about the October dates was a con artist way to deceive. At this point, I am extremely upset and let her know I am not available on the October dates and require a refund and I let her, and her business partner know that I would report them to the Better Business Bureau.
Her partner pleaded with me not to do so but I decided that it is important to document these instances where businesses try to take consumers for scam rides. This woman is an extremely talented photographer but lacks business acumen and integrity. Proceed at your own risk! read more
