James Korin Photography - Beach Engagement Session

James is the best! If you want to enjoy your big day stress free, choose James. If you want to…read morecapture every important moment of your big day, hire James. If you want to re-live your big day over and over again years later, James is your guy! My wife and I had never done a professional photoshoot. Neither of us are particularly comfortable in front of the camera. After interviewing 5 different photographers, we knew from our first conversation that James was the one. He is incredibly friendly, easy going, and knowledgeable. We agreed to do an engagement session, 1 location for 90mins to see if we'd be comfortable working with James. It couldn't have gone better. Initially, we were a bit stiff, but James gave us tips on how to act naturally, suggested poses and hand positions that made us feel and look relaxed. The time flew by and we actually ended up going to a second location with a wardrobe change. Overall, it was about 2 hours. James did not mind at all. In fact, he probably could've gone longer if the sun hadn't set on us! Our photos were edited and received in less than 2 weeks! James was kind enough to print a large poster and sign that shipped to our house in just a few days. He price matched any package/prints from other photographers. Having gone through our engagement session seamlessly, we hired James to shoot our wedding as well. He and an assistant were on site for 10 hours, tending to our every need and keeping us on our timeline. After our planned family/wedding party photos, we hardly even noticed them working as we proceeded with wedding events. After the wedding, we received many compliments on how great James was and several guests asked for his contact information. Within a couple of days, we received a preview of about 20 photos highlighting our big day. We were thrilled! Every important moment was captured so elegantly! The full magazine of photos was available for download in about 1 month. James then worked with us to print a high quality photo book for our coffee table. You can't go wrong with James--his high quality work and work ethic speak for themselves. There is no substitute for how easy and stress free he made us feel, so that we could truly enjoy ourselves knowing that he would capture every single moment candidly. Do not hesitate to hire James, it will be the best decision you will ever make.

An unforgettable experience captured perfectly -- thank you, James!…read more I had the honor of graduating from both LACC and UCLA Extension, and I'm so grateful that James was there to capture every important moment. From our first communication, he was extremely professional, flexible, and kind, always making sure he understood what I wanted and adapting to each location, timeline, and change with ease. He photographed both ceremonies with incredible attention to detail -- from candid moments of me with my husband, family, and friends, to emotional highlights like walking across the stage, and even the quiet, heartfelt moments in between. His eye for storytelling brought every part of the day to life. James made everyone feel comfortable, and his warm presence truly added to the celebration. He treated both graduations with care and dedication, and I couldn't have asked for a better photographer to help preserve these milestones. If you're looking for someone reliable, talented, and genuinely passionate about their work -- James is the one. Thank you again for capturing these beautiful memories that my loved ones and I will treasure forever!

Unfortunately this was the most horrible experience I have ever had with a photographer. We were…read moresuper excited to book with her in hopes of some amazing headshots. I have two children in the industry and we needed updated headshots. First the price is average as expected from a CA photographer. However the ad-ons are insane. We opted out of the hair and makeup since we are pretty proficient in doing our own. We also opted out of the $150-200 outfit consultation per outfit as well. We are pretty good with styling as well. We arrived to our session 2 hours early in the hotel so we could do our own hair and makeup which is fine. However our booking time was 5pm and they knew we were there and did not even come to get us till 5:30. I saw another girl go in the elevator that went up at 5pm. Knowing she probably paid for hair and makeup. Since we did not pay $1500 or more for ad ons we were treated horrible. Come to find out Lilly's daughter is the hair and makeup artist. We paid the basic package $599 per child for 1 hour of service. PACKAGE 1 - Headshot Session (Approximately 60min) * Commercial * Theatrical * Print Headshot 2 Looks 5 Final hi-res RETOUCHED images (It includes two adjustments/editing requests) + Approximately 100 print ready downloadable photos (proofs) We finally got in the room she had a black curtain hung and she took approximately seven minutes per girl. She held the shutter down on her camera moved it left and right and took 300 photos on each look in 2-3 minutes. So we paid $1200 for 14 minute session in front of a black curtain with the exact same pose for each girl. That's 14 min session for 2 girls. Bottom line you have to pay for the one million ad-ons if you want decent service from her and the photos are crap. She captured both my kids with dark brunette hair since the lighting was so dark in the room with the black curtains. I have an auburn haired girl and dirty blond. So basically they can't book a single job with these photos. This money was poured down the drain. Also my friend bought the clothing ad-ons and the items are purchased from target and old navy and she didn't even get to keep them! Do not use her unless you plan to dump $1200 or more in her pocket and she gets lucky with a few good photos. Her lighting technique is not even good.

The parking lot is consistently busy, so finding a spot can be a hit or miss. Ambiance/Environment: The studio is located inside the AR Gallery. Once you enter the AR Gallery, you'll see the studio on your right. They have an extremely small space with two rooms. One room features white walls, and the other room features colored backgrounds. There's many props from headbands and hats to chairs and stools and more! Some props can use a cleaning, but you can't really see it in the photos. Service: I decided to do a walk-in, so I didn't book an appointment or prepay online. They only take walk-ins starting at 11:30. They're not busy on weekdays but busier during the weekends. I completely forgot his name, but the worker that checked me in was nice, efficient, and knowledgable about the offerings. They provide a large screen with gridlines, lighting, and a small remote. They'll give you a timer, so you'll know exactly how much time you have left during your session. Studio Session & Photos: I chose the 5 minute session with the colored background. You'd choose two colors out of five options. Since I chose the colored walls, let the worker know when you're ready to switch colors. They'll pause the timer, switch the background, and continue the timer. The small remote is easy to hide in the photos. The lighting is perfect, and the photos came out amazing! Pricing: All details and prices are on their website. It's easy to book an appointment online. Since my birthday was three days away, the worker gave me a 10% discount. They also offer other discounts. All details are listed on their website. Highly recommend this studio!
