Went in for a late breakfast a few weeks ago. The kids loved the pancakes but the breakfast quesadilla i ordered was dreadful. Paper thin egg stuck to roof of the tortilla by cheese so the whole rest of the thing just fell apart. Chorizo everywhere. Really bad. I should have sent back but also, server should have recognized how bad it looked and the fact most was left by me, but she was too busy cleaning to even ask how the food was. Also she thought that the bacon she brought out, fully burned, not just well done was ok and we had to ask for more for the kids. Only good thing to me was the iced tea. read more

Liz's is the quintessential small town diner. With an antiquated atmosphere like you're dining in the 80's, and plenty of seating, Liz's presents a warm welcome to hungry guests. The menu is pretty big, with breakfast and lunch options, and the staff are helpful. Taylor did a great job being attentive of our needs and suggesting things we wouldn't have even thought of. They have lots of space for banquets or special groups, too. We really enjoyed our meal. The kids' menu has fun options and cheap prices. The fruity pebbles pancake was fantastic. The blueberry crunch pancakes were also a hit for the adults. All in all, Liz's is a solid option for those in the Richland area. read more

Food is ok, we got the Michigan and Ohio bowl, I wish there was more of the veggies, and not overload of the hash browns . If you get the Ohio bowl ask for more spinach and tomatoes. I have a generally dim view of the local restaurants belonging to EMA Enterprises. This group includes the Michelle's on Gull Road, on Red Arrow in Mattawan (the Old Stone Cottage), on Romance Rd. in Portage, and others. Blah. But if I had to point to a favorite of the bunch - and I use the word "favorite" in its loosest form - it would be Liz's in Richland. The menu is varied, the physical plant is big and clean, the food is good, and the service is very attentive. The prices do tend to be higher than average, however. And we have found that the kitchen always gets something drastically wrong with our order. Most recently, I ordered the Cinnamon Swirl French Toast, and the kitchen made it with Texas Toast. Sometimes the kitchen catches the mistake before we do and suddenly another plate shows up at the table. Other times the kitchen says "Oops, see if they'll take this instead" and will fix it only if we ask them to. read more

I went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning right around opening, and I had a great experience. Our server was very kind, and our food came out quite fast. It does become crowded in the mornings, so if you aren't in the mood to wait a bit, that might not be the best time for you. It seemed that the servers were very understaffed, but if you are patient and not in a rush, this is not a concern. I had a solid breakfast, nothing too out of the park in terms of food. Holy cow! I definitely wasn't expecting this. First of all the place is huge it has a banquet hall connected to it and it has two sides to the restaurant. I can understand why because it probably feels up on the weekends I went during the week for lunch. Our waitress was outstanding and she was very accommodating. This restaurant is obviously family-owned with a lot of pride. The menu is unique the food is large and definitely worth every penny that they charge. It seems to be more of a breakfast favorite but the lunch was phenomenal. They run specials every day on the board and the salad bar look pretty decent and fresh. If you're thinking about lunch or dinner you really need to stop there. But if you want a really good breakfast it's a must. read more

Was able to enjoy breakfast here while traveling in Michigan. Things hadn't been open long in the state, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was dineresque, laid back and friendly. The toast and biscuits were delicious. Nice big pieces of bread. I had the sausage and mushroom omelette. It was a tad over cooked for me on the egg. The servings were enough for two if your appetite isn't too hearty and you can find something to compromise on. We were visiting friends in Kalamazoo area and we stopped at Liz's Parkview café for breakfast. Service was timely and friendly, I ordered a chicken fried steak breakfast the scrambled eggs came out a little lukewarm but otherwise the hashbrowns were done perfectly and the chicken fried steak was very tasty and absolutely huge my wife got a skillet that she enjoyed and finished. We were in town for a basketball game and wanted something to eat. Stopped here since they had good reviews. Unfortunately the service was very slow... so slow that we had to ask for coffee and where the toast was that should have come with the meal By the way the toast was dropped on the floor in the kitchen so we had to wait again... by this time we were done with our meal. You could hear all of the staff talking and laughing in the kitchen while we waited for our waitress which did not make our wait any better. Hopefully they will train their staff to be more observant and pro active or they are going to loose customers. Liz's reminds me of a small town cafe I worked at in high school -- it looks small and unassuming but has ample space and seating inside. A warm, friendly staff greeted us upon entry and we were seated quickly. I was excited to try Water Street Coffee because our hosts spoke highly of it -- and was not let down. Our party tried the fluffy hot cakes, eggs several different ways, the corned beef hash, and various toasts on the side. While the rye toast did not have as much flavor as I expected, it was still a filling accompaniment to my meal. The corned beef hash was some of the best I have ever eaten -- great texture and just the right amount of saltiness. Eggs were cooked to perfection (both scrambled and poached) and the hot cakes were fluffy and delightful. Waiter service was prompt, friendly, and on point. For a busy Sunday morning, we had excellent service. I'd recommend arriving between 8:30-8:45 to guarantee quick seating on a Sunday. read more

This is probably the best breakfast place in town. Had a small town feel to it that made it feel cozy and at home. The server had a familiar vibe and made us feel as comfortable as possible. Naming off the specials in detail, and kept the delicious water street coffee coming. Perfect place to slip away to when it's raining out. The food service was impeccable , and there was lots of it! I really like the salad bar, grilled cheese sandwich, fries, and pecan pancakes at Liz's Parkview Café. Also, the coffee is almost always steaming hot when served. I know LPC has undergone several remodeling projects, but for a vintage village building, that is to be expected. The light fixtures are very pretty and up to date, and the carpeting has been replaced. Thus, this restaurant smells like food being cooked and coffee being brewed. The waitstaff are also quite assertive and quick at helping people. I took one bite out of my food which tasted only of cooking grease, mentioned it to the waitress and and the cash register, the didn't apologize or offer a re-make, something different or refund. The food was awesome, so many choices. We had breakfast here. I had eggs Benedict which was nice since most places don't have that option. The OJ tasted like it was freshly squeezed too. Went in for breakfast, told to seat myself and asked if I wanted a menu. Yes, I would like a menu and coffee. Waitress brings menu and coffee and never returns. After 20 minutes, I get up, leave and wait at register to pay for the cup of coffee I drank. Waitress who ignored me for 20 minutes comes and tells me how busy she is (the restaurant was about 1/3 full), doesn't apologize and tells me the coffee will be $2.25.
