Having worked in the county for something approaching 4 decades, I was very familiar with Cathy's Kitchen. My colleagues and I would frequent the restaurant for lunch occasionally. But I hadn't been there since I stopped working in late '15. We had been up extra early so by the time we were ready to eat in the late morning we were ready for sandwiches or something. We both had fish: I had the restaurant's perch special and my girl had smelt. Each dish came with fries, cole slaw, and tater sauce. I consider a restaurant like Cathy's Kitchen a Gordon Food Products diner. Everything looks and tastes familiar if one eats at other diners - and there are many - that buy from Gordon Food Products (GFP). Indeed, a GFP delivery truck drove by the front windows and headed towards the rear of the building as we were eating. The only way food like this can be catastrophic is if the execution by the cook is poor. And it wasn't in this case. Everything was serviceable. The restaurant's interior is spartan, much like a cafeteria. The restaurant pulls a lot of customers from the neighboring flea market. Our server today was attentive without being a pest. We could tell she knew what she was doing.

So glad Cathy's kitchen is close to home!! Nice big Yummy omelet!! Friendly waitresses and we love watching the head chef cook!!!

This is one of our three favorite places for breakfast so we go here fairly often. The biscuits and gravy and any of their burgers such as the "Cathy's Burger" which is stacked with ham or "Andrews favorite with a fried egg. Our boys really like it going here. Nice atmosphere, friendly service. Great family type place and it's adjacent to Riets flea market.

This is such a quaint little spot!…read more We were working our way through the backroads, heading toward the lakeshore on a recent late morning when we came across this cute diner. You are invited to place your order at the counter and then find a seat while you wait for your meal to be brought out. My husband ordered an omelet. It was a special for the day. I went with the corned beef hash breakfast plate. The omelet my husband ordered was very plain. Sparse ingredients and he noticed a plate being placed in a microwave, seemingly to melt the cheese. This is not something we love to see. The omelet also did not include hash-browns, which was not specified. In our opinion the price point would have been better represented with the addition of some breakfast potatoes, alongside! :) My corned beef plate was very tasty!! It came with corned beef, two eggs, breakfast potatoes and delicious toast! We also enjoyed fresh jam - request this if it's not offered to you as they have regular, pre-packaged smuckers on the table, but fresh jam in the cooler! :) The staff were all super kind and helpful! This is a very cute spot - we need more spots like this around our local cute towns!

Looking at the pictures as I leave this review....everything was so yum!!…read more My family and I were a group of ten and we were in the neighboring area for the weekend. It was our last day and we were looking for some good breakfast, our favorite way to spend some girls time together. We went two one place before this and they couldn't accommodate our table size but they recommended a second place. We tried getting there but they said that our group was too big and someone beat us to the table they had open. Thankfully, we found The Breakfast Place that was so quick to accommodate us. We called them on the phone and they told us to come right on it and they'd get a table cleared for us soon. With great speed and pleasure, they found us a table big enough for all of us, got us seated and had the best team of servers to help us. We had a very nice young man who was assisting us and he was so friendly and patient. He also had a young lady assist him. I wish I asked their names but they were great. Both very young and exceptional. Went above and beyond. Everyone was super pleased to see the extensive menu and we all left feeling full and satisfied. Whether we had people craving savory skillets or omelettes or those craving sweet breakfast items like pancakes and French toast, we all left super happy that we were able to eat here. This is a great community staple and if we are in the area again, it'll be the first place we visit. We thank this team for welcoming us and giving us a great experience to close out our weekend in Michigan.

The food is good, but not usually worth these long wait times imo. Today, was a cloudy and cold Wednesday mid morning. The place was busy, but no long wait times. The food is always good. Everything I've ever eaten on the menu is good... but I have a special affinity for pig 'n the blankets, banket, and any Mexican inspired breakfast item in the menu. Today I had the chorizo Benny. It was fabulous and worth the $15 imo. Our waiter, Pedro, was the best! He's worked there for over a decade and knows the family that runs this restaurant--- 3 Dutch brothers--- he gave me a run down on the lore and all the pictures are of their family photos hanging around the restaurant. I think that's pretty cool. They will be opening and expanding into a new restaurant location on the corner of River and Lakewood Blvd sometime in the near future. That location will have more of a "hipster" vibe with breakfast cocktails, etc. Check them out when you want... but if you don't want to wait come during off peak hours and off season times. Make sure to peruse their bakery for some goodies to take home. Salud.

When entering the restaurant we were immediately greeted by staff and were advised to grab a menu from the nearby wall. Orders are placed at the counter, food and coffee. They also provide an estimate on wait-time for coffee and food based on level of orders currently placed. We were given a buzzer and advised that our name would be called for both coffee and food. The bourbon vanilla Madagascar latte was delicious, I loved that the coffee flavor was not overpowered by homemade coffee syrup. The paninis were delicious and very filling! They come with a side salad or kettle chips.

They had a great variety of salads, sandwiches, desserts, and drinks, so it took us a minute to decide. We ordered the Fiesta Wrap (8/10). It was really good, but I think it could have used a little more seasoning. The salsa definitely helped bring everything together though. We also got the Wise Guy, which was a 10/10. It was filling, made with fresh ingredients, and came with a side of kettle chips that were also really good. For dessert, we got a cookie that was moist, soft, and pulled apart easily. Definitely worth trying. I also ordered a small iced s'mores latte. It tasted more like a mocha than a s'mores latte, but I didn't mind because it was still enjoyable. Even though they seemed pretty busy, the service was efficient and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. Overall, a great spot with fresh food, plenty of options, and good service. I'd definitely come back.
