We walked into a relaxed space with a consistently friendly and engaged staff, making the experience feel more personal than a typical fast casual stop. The acai bowl is the foundation of the menu and it delivers reliably, with the base thick enough to hold the toppings without turning into soup partway through. The Nutella bowl is the most popular order, and the combination of the rich spread against the acai base works in a way that feels indulgent without completely undermining the healthier premise of the meal. The mango bowls are a lighter, brighter option for anyone who wants something less earthy than the acai, and the Nica Bowl is another solid choice for a more composed build. The customization options are generous and the staff is helpful in steering you toward combinations that work if you are unsure where to start. Prices land in the eleven to thirteen dollar range, which is on the higher side for the format, though the quality of the fruit and the portion sizes make it feel reasonable once you are eating it. For a post workout meal or a lighter lunch option near Northeastern, Playa Bowls is an easy and reliable choice.

I've only been here twice and both times it was unsatisfactory. The second time was not just…read moreunsatisfactory but actually very bad. The first time, I submitted my order on the kiosk. While I was waiting for my food, one of the cooks (Latino gentleman I think, didn't get his name) called me over from across the room and asked me if I wanted greens in my bowl. I couldn't understand if he meant in addition to the quinoa that I ordered or instead of the quinoa so I just said ok. I was surprised later to find that my bowl did not have the quinoa that I ordered. Why would he ask if I want greens instead of just reading my order? I called to report the issue and dismissed it as a miscommunication. The second time, I submitted my order online. It was about a $45 order (two bowls). While waiting for my food, I asked one of the girls (Latino girl, kind of big with curly hair I think) if my order was ready. She said no and asked me if I wanted chicken in my bowl. I said that all of the information was already in the order that I submitted online and paid for. By the time I got home, I noticed the protein in one of the bowls was missing: teriyaki seitan. I went all the way back to the restaurant and asked to speak with the manager. She seemed to already know that the food was missing and asked, "chicken"? And she said that I could not speak to the manager. She offered me a free dessert but I declined. Again, I asked her to read my order instead of confirming with me what I wanted in my order. She said ok and handed me a container of food. On my way to the car, I checked the container and it was buffalo chicken, not seitan. I told her that it was seitan missing, not chicken, and she apologized. She handed me the seitan and I went home. When I got home to eat my bowl, I noticed not only was the seitan missing but the chicken was missing. So both bowls were missing protein. Fortunately, I still had the chicken she incorrectly handed me the first time. To recap, I paid $45 for two bowls. Both were missing the proteins (the most expensive and substantial part of the meal). I went back and she failed to fix my order and refused to put me in contact with the manager. Overall, there seems to be a major communication gap and maybe an English comprehension gap in the staff where they are unable to understand what's being ordered, causing major inconvenience and incorrectly making what is priced as a premium meal.

I appreciate that their base isn't overly sweet and they give an abundance of toppings for an amazing variety of texture. To be fair, this spot is a little pricey so maybe a treat just every once in a while, but you're bound to be satisfied anytime you do choose to come! They also offer some delicious ice cream and smoothie options, perfect for a quick treat on a hot day if you're not craving a full meal but still want something on the healthy side. From my experience, the service is kind and helpful, and the vibes (which are similar across all their locations) feel very pristine and calming. I definitely recommend this spot and can't wait to try more of their flavor combos!

However, my most recent experiences have been better! I have been greeted with kind service and my orders have been made well. I haven't tried the freezes again since my last experience, but the acai bowl I had was great. The portions were what I expected and the server even was kind to let me pick a different topping on bowl since they were out of one of the standard toppings. I appreciated the attention to detail and taking a moment to make my experience better, rather than just skipping out on the topping. This recent experience was encouraging enough for me to come back sometime soon.

This place has a cool interior and 2 levels and the downstairs has a lounge- like vibe - very cool! Anyhow we ordered several of the juices between the 3 of us - the orange blossom was great my favorite! Our friend ordered the heart beet, which he really liked too. The hubs ordered a Sunrise surge smoothie- mango pineapple strawberry carrot dates watermelon coconut water and beet ginger swirl! We even got 2 juices to go and they were great! They're super smooth too no chewy bits or anything! I love that these are all so delicious veggies and fruit with no added sugars! Fulfills my "healthy and tasty" requirements from everything I eat and drink these days!! Service was friendly. The ambience is great nice lighting bright colors and plenty of seating! Great central location near Central square too! We'll be back for sure!

The menu is really varied -- a lot of different cuisines. It took me a bit to order but staff were patient and friendly. I ordered the mushroom shawarma pita and an açaí bowl. The bowl was delicious! They have their own smoothie bar that's separate from the rest of the kitchen and was served quickly. The mushroom shawarma pita was a bit disappointing. The flavors were good, but it was layered poorly, with all of the mushroom at the top of the pita, making for inconsistent bites. The sauces themselves seemed delicious. I would definitely come back to try different things!
