Found this gem a couple years ago when I was looking for new supplements. Instantly loved the vibe, kindness of Pete and the knowledge he shared in going over what he had and what I should stack together. Everything I've ever tried from him was a win. This place is awesome..... I have been kinda getting into the gym a little more lately and for a while I was spending allot of money at GNC. Ever since I found this place Ive cut my spending in half and found products that actually work. The staff here actually know what there talking about, when you ask them questions they really know, as opposed to the 17 year old at GNC who really doesn't give a shit. More importantly its a locally owned business, the owner is always there and has no problem giving discounts on everything. I went in there for my first time today after years of skateboarding past it and not giving it a second glance. I only started P90X this week and decided a recovery mix was absolutely necessary. My first step in the door I could tell it was a hidden gem. I was immediately asked if I needed help after looking around the store in a confused daze. I told them what I was looking for. They were immediately able to recommend a recovery mix. They suggested Met-Rx Protein Revolution for recovery. He handed me the tub of powder I read it over quickly, I asked how much it was and they gave me about $15 off the sticker price! There were a few other people in the store as well, and it was easily able to tell that they know what they are talking about. The guy at the counter buying products told me the mix tasted well and gave me serving suggestions for maximum results. He also gave me his card for his gym with a free-week trial. I would have given 5 stars had they told me why they recommend one mix over another, but that is also partly my fault because I bought it without asking the right questions. Update: Just tried the mix and it tastes amazing. I will definitely be going back! I strongly recommend this for anyone who wants to get the right supplements. Just make sure you ask them questions you may have first. read more

I'm new to exercising and working out. My friend Flex had recommended ANC. He told me to tell them he sent me. Went in there last week for a tub of protein. I picked one off the shelf it was a syntha 6 dark chocolate flavor. They gave me a first time customer discount and then I told them my friend was Flex. They took another $10 off. I had a great experience with the salesman up front. The problem arises when I go outside. A really bulky guy with shaven head who told me he was the owner said I parked in "His spot". I thought he was just kidding until he threatened to "Piledrive" me into the pavement. I had explained that the street doesn't belong to him. It's a public roadway. We went back and forth until I mentioned my friend flex. At this time he insisted I take a new pudding he is selling for free. I agreed reluctantly. The pudding tasted good. But overall my experience was very poor. I will not ever be back here again. read more

Ive been going to ANC for about a year, I really like the place, its small and has everything a person who exercises could use for recovery and muscle building. The prices are much much better then your big box health food places and they have hard to find suppliments. Peter and Steve Cardillo are cool and of course theres jerry gunns, I think he's been pile driven and power bombed a few too many times. He's a nice guy but trys to push other products on you if you ask him for something specific that your looking for. Went to ANC today looking for Tri Flex or their version of it. My knee has been acting up lately and was looking for a supplement to help me. After speaking to a friend on Sunday about what he takes and where to buy I decided to go check it out. Walked in and was a bit put off because I used the GNC title for this joint supplement and he said that they don't sell it. Ok well do you sell joint supplements? Yes. Well that's what I need. I'm pretty sure they are all relatively the same thing. As long as it had the 3 things I was looking for Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM then that's what I need. So after getting the semantics out of the way I named dropped and the price went from $39.99 to $15. Made it all worth while. Now let's hope these big horse pills do what they are suppose to do. read more

No need to go anywhere else...... I started going to the gym about 2 years ago. I was a newbie then ( and still am to a certain degree). Being a little intimidated upon going in the store, i was greeted by Mike and I told him i was new to the gym and used to go to GNC, He immediately educated me supplements on what to start out with and did not over sell me. He is considerably cheaper than on-line and chain stores. I've been going there ever since, changing my supplements upon his recommendation as needed or desired. Finally got the time to write about these guys on yelp. I hope people read these anyhow I do what I need to do. I am a personal trainer for La fitness in Saugus. So sometimes my clients ask me what to take and then ask the next guy where to buy it. this has happened more that ones, for my peeps who go to ANC they go to buy one thing and they come out buying something else, not cool. so I ask around about this place and found out a lot of unhappy customers just in my gym, they change their prices on you all the time one product one day it is 15 next day it is 35 very unreliable. and the last thing I have to complain about is no knowledge of supplements, they guys or who ever works there is just there to run a business. I told one of my older client that he needs glucosamine and he calls me form the store and wants to know what is it for because the guys in there dont know about it. I had a terrible experience today at ANC. I arrived @ 1:15 pm on Friday, April 4th, to purchase my usual $50 can of protein power. As soon as I walked in, the cashier (a female with black curly hair and a strong Boston accent) looked at me like I was about the rob the place. The 4 bodybuilders also in the store just stared at me like I didn't belong. They didn't even ask if I needed help. After I found the protein I was looking for and paid for it, the lady cashier didn't even say thank you. I've never felt that uncomfortable in a store before and will never shop there again. Given ANC is the only nutrition store in the area, I'll order my protein online from now on I hope the owner takes note and shares with his sales team. Not cool! read more

I visited ANC because they advertised low prices. The prices were great, not the lowest, but without shipping costs it would be well worth shopping there. Unfortunately, the arrogance and rudeness, of who I believe is the owner, has deterred me from becoming a customer. His customer service skills were poor at best. I asked a few questions being new to the store and found myself speechless when he replied "what don't you understand ? Are you stupid ? " That's right, he actually called a potential customer "stupid". The other person was friendly and tried to help, I believe in an effort to compensate for the other persons rudeness but that wouldn't have been possible.
