Finally writing reviews from our July 2023 trip to the Netherlands. We were strolling around The Hague. We stumbled upon Little V in the city center and decided to have lunch there. It was a warmer day and the shaded patio looked so inviting. They've done a very nice job incorporating trellises with plants growing up them. It almost has a tropical vibe. We ordered a wonderful salad and fresh rolls to split and they were very good. Fresh, crisp ingredients. Perfect for a summer lunch. The real standout was their signature drinks though. My husband ordered the Dragon Lady (a very tasty, refreshing iced tea) ad I ordered the "Little T Mix" (a mix of ginger, lemongrass and jasmine tea). Both excellent! Wow, who would've thought of coming across such a great Vietnamese restaurant in Rotterdam? Thanks Yelp community! Being in California, I have access to good Vietnamese restaurants in Oakland and San Jose plus Orange County (Westminster/Garden Grove/Fountain Valley) a bit south. I was staying at the City Hub in Rotterdam and did a day trip exploring the town of Delft and The Hague. I had my afternoon planned for the Escher in the Palace, Mauritshuis and mini tea break at Hotel Des Indes. After I took a tram from Delft to the central part of The Hague. I was surprised at how big the Chinatown was in The Hague compared to Rotterdam and even to Amsterdam. There definitely is a descent size community here. I was searching on my app on where this restaurant was located. I probably past by the restaurant two times before I looked more closely behind the trees, past the patio was Little V. The waitress sat me by a bar style counter by the window facing the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church). First my cocktail came and then my pho. Wow, maybe it was my week long withdrawal of Asian food and rainy day but the quality of this pho was on point. The flank steak, beef balls and broth was perfection. Presentation was good and the prices were extremely reasonable when compared to prices in CA. It's a hip spot and there's also an area for children to play. I have been to this restaurant twice, the first time I was there with a large group of people and because of that, my focus did not lie on the service as I was distracted and enjoying myself. Despite this, the lack of good service was noticeable enough for me to be bothered by it. It was clear that the waiters did not like the fact that we were a large group who had shown up unannounced, which was understandable but I still believe that they could've put more effort into serving us. It felt as if we were a nuisance and afterthought for the waiter(s). The second time I went was a bit better, but the food was considerably worse. This time, the waiters were nicer but they were also a bit distracted as an accident had happened. Again, understandable but the food was not worth it. It was brought out quickly, signaling it had been frozen and prepared swiftly. It was cold, mediocre and the dishes were relatively small. Now, I have read that the sister restaurant in Rotterdam is way better, but since I have not been there, I cannot judge. Even if Little V is better in Rotterdam, I still would not recommend it solely based on my experience in The Hague. read more

I have an obsession, I will admit and that is always to stop at a Vietnamese restaurant while traveling oversees. Sometimes its due to the fact that I like to experience different flavors of the dishes I have come accustomed to in California, other times its mostly due to the fact I love Asian food! While in Den Hague, I really was craving some pho, not going to lie! Thankfully a quick jaunt down the road with the assistance of the Yelp app I came across Little V. At first it looked like a dingy restaurant, which does not bother me one bit, but that may of been due to it being nighttime. Once you take a look inside, that completely changes with its eclectic style, which was quite inviting. Sadly this place is very popular, so if you do not make reservations, there is a good chance you will be sitting outside. We fell in the latter, but thankfully most tables have a heat lamp, which was key! Onto the menu, it has some of your typical Vietnamese dishes we have all come to love, while boasting some interesting items as well which were new to me. We ended up going with the beef wrapped in grape leaves for an appetizer, followed by lemongrass chicken with rice, and beef and meatball pho. The appetizer was to die for, quite unique flavor which was had to pinpoint the ingredients outside of the obvious beef flavor. The lemongrass chicken and rice stole the show though, absolutely divine and wished I had ordered it quite honestly. As for the pho, I have had better, but the broth was a little lacking in the flavor profile which I think led to the disappointment. Pricepoint is a tad high, but its in a trendy neighborhood, so one would expect it to be. The service was stellar though, always checking in and making sure we had everything we needed. We left quite full and happy in the end, an easy four out of five stars! read more

Having eaten at many vietnamese restaurants in Little Saigon in Los Angeles and in Minneapolis were there is a large vietnamese population, I found this Vietnamese food to be odd tasting, especially the Pho. We started with the shrimp egg rolls that consisted of only shrimp. I regrettably ordered the seafood Pho. I noticed a small bowl next to my soup, but didn't think twice about it until I took my first bite. The soup was so bland, like water. I added the small bowl of what appeared to be liquid spices. The taste was better, but who makes broth like that?? Also, tomatoes in pho is something I have never seen. To top off the whole pho experience, they put different noodles than indicated on the menu. The rice dishes were better, but again, not like any vietnamese dish I've tasted. On a positive note, the service is good and the restaurant is very cute inside. Seating available outside as well. What a great place! Absolutely my favorite restaurant we went to, while in the Netherlands this summer. The food is absolutely delicious, fresh, and there are tons of possibilities for customization, independently from your eating preferences or intolerances. For me personally, as someone with Celiac, this was heaven. I was quickly given a list of several options -- many more than I'm used to having, and everything looked so delicious I had trouble deciding! But in the end I was very happy with my selection. They also make absolutely delicious (and beautiful) mocktails, and they are very affordable. Service was fast, and everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. DISCLAIMER: I am Vietnamese. I came here to try their pho and other offerings, since the photographs looked so enticing, and it was really rainy day---perfect for a big bowl of hot pho. I was promptly greeted when I entered and got seated by the window. I ordered their pho and banh cuon, as well as a pot of hot green tea. Got the pho. It was extremely extremely oily. To the point where when I poured it out of my metal spoon, you could see the fat globules sticking around the spoon. This should 100% not happen if your pho broth is done correctly. Period. Ever. The fixins were very fresh, which was good (herbs, sprouts, lemon). Meat tasted good (all 3 types of them). I was starving so I ate everything but didn't drink the broth intentionally. Next tried the banh cuon. It wasn't bad, it did the job. The rice wrappers could have been lighter---they were a bit too dense. The cuts of cha lua were good, though, and the grilled pork and mushrooms tasted good as well. Service was lacking---my cup of water never got refilled, and I never got checked on again until I finished my entire meal. Decor of the place is great, as well as ambiance. Good for small or big groups of people. Would I go back? Definitely not. That oily broth in the pho, the average banh cuon, and the inattentive service makes me say this place is a pass. I came to Little V for a quick lunch while visiting The Hague. I ordered the lunchbox (a sampler of four dishes, 11,50€), which I found to be the right size for lunch. I liked their quick and attentive service and tasty goi ga (chicken salad with a number of vegetables). If you decide to drop by, I'd suggest sticking with a full-size order of the goi ga as your main. This was soOooOo good. My boyfriend and my favourite meal on our trip so far! The interior is quite stylish and Instagram friendly if you're here for that, but the cuisine is also delicious. We got the four course surprise meal and stated our allergies. They were thorough and able to comply which was great-- not many places can! If you can make a reservation ahead of time, I would, since they are so crowded and needed us to give up our table within an hour and a half of sitting down since we were walk in. We were able to do the four course in the allotted time though! We had papaya salad with chicken, spring and summer rolls for our appetiser, and beef pho for our entree. They were all small but shareable portions. Delicious! Beef pho a little fatty and no discernible spices that are normally used but it was still delicious. For our main course, we shared the fish with caramel sauce, lemongrass chicken, noodles and vegetables. They were all good and filled us up! Our desserts were standard (cheesecake and mousse) but felt complete. Service was impeccable and attentive! Also the drinks were delicious as well, I'd recommend trying any of the cocktails but they also have a wide assortment of nonalcoholic drinks which makes this place great for groups. What is one to do when they are away from the states for Thanksgiving? Go out for Vietnamese, of course!! Rumor was Little V is the best place in town for authentic Vietnamese, and in fact one of the best restaurants in town. Overall, it was a good experience but the food did not compare to a thanksgiving feast! First, and obviously critical for an American holiday, we must start with the libations. Their mixologists deserve five stars. The drinks were fresh, tasty and beautifully crafted. Second, the atmosphere is fun and vibrant. A dark interior brought to life by candles and greenery. Definitely an interior the instagram influencers would find worthy! Third, the food.. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. It was ok. One would almost argue the food was an afterthought for this popular hangout. We tried a few appetizers and a few dishes to share and the group collectively agreed there was only one we would try again. That is roughly a 9% success rate. read more

Hands down the best Pho in all of The Netherlands! Living in Amsterdam Ive been constantly searching for Vietnamese to outshine the one at this establishment but it hasn't been done yet. Their helpings are pretty big and it's nicely priced, their ice teas are incredible and you should definitely try their rice paper rolls. Everything tastes fresh and incredibly delicious. Their staff is also really efficient and your order comes quite quickly, it's always jam packed so it'll be wise to book a table before heading there for dinner. But yes I'm definitely a big fan of this place, any chance i get of going to the Hague that's where you can find me! Oh before i forget keep some space for their dessert! read more

Ah, Little V! The food is good, with REALLY friendly service in a nice setting. I have been looking for real Vietnamese food since I got to the Netherlands, and thus far, Little V is the closest I've gotten. The pancake is really good -- crispy and stuffed with bean sprouts and other fillings, with lots of fresh herbs and fish sauce on the side. Though I usually have the pancake as an appetizer to share, it's big enough to have as an entree for one person. Unfortunately, my search for satisfying pho is still ongoing. The pho here is fine, but not much better than other places I've tried. I haven't had many other things on the menu, but I'll definitely be back. Re: service, I once accidentally made a reservation for 8 people for 9:30 pm instead of 7:30 pm. The manager was able to get us in at 8 and was really understanding and helpful about the whole thing. Some people in our party also ended up arriving late for various reasons, but our server was extremely accommodating and didn't make us feel bad. I love nice people! read more

Good Thai place in The Hague. The dishes are very small, so I recommend ordering a lot more than you think you need, or at least get plenty of rice and noodle dishes for sustenance. The lemongrass grilled chicken and the beef dish were my favorite, nothing was a "can't-miss." By far the best part of this restaurant is the drinks! I was only in town for a few days, so cannot speak to this myself, but I was told by the friend I visited that restaurants serving specialty mixed drinks are hard to come by. Little V is outstanding. Great food. Great service. The place is big and, for good reason, almost always packed. But somehow they manage to get great food to you quickly. The One Pot meal, a delicious coconut pancake with shrimp, meat and vegetables inside is a must try, even if the combination sounds strange. The Pho is also highly recommended. If you are going on a weekend it may be worth making a reservation. The cocktail offering is varied and creative, also worth trying to open up the appetite. I absolutely love Little V, have gone around 10 times. It's where I always bring my guests from out of town as it's great food, great service and great atmosphere. But first and foremost the food AND cocktails are delicious. My only only complaint is that the TV in the kids room has been broke for like 6 months!!! Come on guys, I make a big effort to come for dinner and I love your kids room but it's a bit empty for kids over 4, mine are 5 and 6.
