The makings of a bowl of pho
    Leon K.

A solid experience after a long night of drinking I'm Amsterdam. There's nothing quite like a bowl of pho to bring you back to life after a night out. Coming from Boston, I would say the pho special isn't the most flavorful I've had, but toss in some additional basil and hot peppers for some kick and it was a satisfying meal. We had the spring rolls and Vietnamese iced coffee and we were back in business to seize the day. The service was good and attentive, add the decor was bright and welcoming as well.

This place was rated highly, but was skeptical since it has multiple spots. Ordered spring rolls with pork and prawns. Each order was 1 and on the slightly higher priced, however, the portion was nearly double (except for prawns). The ingredients were fresh and delicious. Thinking about ordering it for take-away...done thinking, ordered. The Phó Thai, was the main reason we were here. I wasn't expecting top quality Vietnamese food in Amsterdam, so my expectations were low. But I was pleasantly surprised. The broth was flavorful, though I would have preferred more depth. I was sad not o get my lime/basil/pepper/sprouts tray from the start, but once I asked, they had it ready. Beef was top quality and the overall profile of the phó was above average. Service was slower than it should be, but the staff was friendly. Only reason that this isn't 5 star, is because the menu is in Vietnamese, and I still had to order by description

Phobulous!!! After walking all day in the cold and drizzle of Amsterdam, the only thing I key thinking about was getting a steamy bowl of soup... I love Phô but wasn't sure if my bf would try it out.. he agreed and loved it!! This was definitely one of the bests I've had! And try the grilled bananas for dessert! Thanks for a great Birthday dinner in Amsterdam!!

Came here for dinner for two, there was a bit of a wait but not long. We had the vegetarian spring roll and the pork spring roll. Both were very good and crunch on the outside. I especially enjoyed the vegetarian one, the taro inside was sometime I'm not used to having in a spring roll but it was good, the dipping sauce on the side paired well with it. We both had the pho 91, the broth was good and the beef balls didn't taste artificial like the ones you get from the supermarket. Vietnamese iced coffee was also good.

So the amount of meat that you get is so amazing, some places like to skimp out on that part but Pho 91 did not. The broth was delicious and so was their pear juice. I would definitely return here

What a wonderful place! This gem is located at the bustling Albert Cuyp in de Pijp area. A very nice addition to the city! I cook Vietnamese myself very frequent and am very picky if it comes to having Vietnamese for dinner. We tried 5 dishes from the menu and all of them were splendid! 3 small dishes, lotus stem salad and a bowl of pho. All made with care and you can taste that, it doesn't get more authentic than this. Very well balanced, lots of herbs and very pure, just what you would expect from a Vietnamese cuisine. The staff is super helpful and friendly! I'll come back for more and recommend this place to friends and family for sure!

Went to Pho 91 for a soft opening. Getting them ready for their big debut! The space is open and there is a long bench down one wall with smaller tables. Since we were a larger group, we pushed the tables together. This set up will allow for a lot of versatility in the Pho 91 space. Since they are still getting everything set up and are still training the staff, not too much to review, but we enjoyed the Summer Roll, Bun with chicken and the Pho with sliced beef and meatballs. The ice cream for desert was really tasty! Save room for it! I will definitely be back for another sampling of the food and update the review after they have opened.

Another favourite from my Vietnamese food odyssey here in Amsterdam. This cute little restaurant is buried amongst the markets on the Albert Cuypstraat! The decor inside is worth noting (it's adorable) but even more noteworthy is the food. When here, try the fried chicken. In fact, order two serves so you don't need to share! Now the pho, very different from anywhere else in Amsterdam and it comes in two flavours. One for carnivores and another for the vegans. Since it's the first time I've ever come across a vega pho broth, this place gets all the props! And from my vegan friend, he rates it! Definitely worth a visit!

Liked the vibe and the service!

Cute restaurant and great service. We ordered spring rolls and their combination pho (they call it the Pho 91, named after their store). The spring rolls were descent, too much vermicelli and not much anything else. Pho. The pho. I'm from San Jose, California and lived in SoCal for a while. I've driven from San Diego to Westminster for pho. The portion is pretty small, about half the size of what I'm used to in CA. Presented super well though, with all ingredients (bean sprout, mint, onions, jalapeño) pre mixed in. The broth tasted like the canned stuff you get at Ranch 99. Overall cute place, great service - pho.... Err well their ice coffee was good :)

to be honest, after everything I had read about it online, I was expecting a lot more. not only is it always super busy and fully booked, the pho didn't surprise me. I had the banana fritters for desert and it wasn't that special either. but anyway, it's a good change from all noodle and asian places in town!

Their summer roll. Too much veggies and rice vermicelli. Not enough meat.

Ordered their summer roll and pho with rare steak for dinner. Their menu is not extensive but they do also offer vegetarian option. I do think price wise it's a little expensive (4.50 for summer roll and 12 for pho) for Vietnamese food but maybe I'm just not used to the market rate in The Netherlands yet. My experience with Vietnamese food is solely based on what I've had during my time in California's Bay Area so my judgement is not by any means authentic. That being said I thought the flavors that I get from the pho served in Pho 91 was very similar to what I've tasted in the US. The soup was flavorful without being overly salty, the amount of basil and bean sprout in the bowl was just right and the rice noodle was cooked to the right consistency. The only one downside is the beef slices themselves. I thought they were a little tough to bite which was surprising since they are rather thin slices. The summer roll was also good though I thought there was too much rice vermicelli and not enough pork slices. Overall, a place worth visiting to get a solid bowl of pho.

I love Vietnamese food and try to eat it as much as possible. This was probably my most expensive meal in Amsterdam and that now feels sorta strange when thinking back really it was just a big bowl of pho and some tasty chicken wings. The pho was strange, the house speciality mixed the tastes of chicken, beef and meatballs. I went with that as it sounded unusual and original. It was ok, but nothing special. I have tried better Pho in Vietnam itself, you might say duhhhh of course you did and you would be right, but I also had much better pho recently in a Wee Vietnamese restaurant in Oslo. This pho was just a little bit bland and really there was to many different types of meat in it. Sometimes less is more I guess. The starters were nice though, some spicy chicken wings and they did a nice local IPA, so that was good. Service was fast and efficient. The place was clean and welcoming. Just that pho and the prices bring it down really... Only 3 stars based on the latter two things mentioned which were crucial to the whole experience.

    Delicious!

Have to say I'm pretty impressed with Pho 91! We shared some appetizers which were tasty and made me want for more. Their signature Pho91 was delish, filled with meatballs, chicken and beef along with awesome broth. But honestly the best thing about the entire dinner was the Vietnamese style coffee. Now that was BOMB! Overall it was a nice dining experience, the staff was friendly however the service was slow and needs improvement as the place was packed when we got there and the initial wait of 45 minutes turned into 1.5 hours... We didn't give up though, had some beers in a neighboring bar and patiently waited. Would I wait that long again for Pho91? Probably not but I'll definitely be back when it's less crowded!

Their prices are a bit on the higher side, but after receiving my banh mi and seeing the shear size of it, I understand the prices and believe they are appropriate. I ordered a pork belly banh mi with chili peppers included, and I was surprised by how big it was and how close to the traditional banh mi it was. The real difference would be the use of the chili peppers vs. jalapenos (maybe that's just an American thing) and the shredded pork belly versus cuts of it. Regardless, it was delicious and filling without feeling too heavy. Definitely recommend.
