DO NOT EAT HERE. This is NOT AUTHENTIC VIET FOOD. Their service is horrible, they do not great you... they do not acknowledge you... they are pure RUDE. I kindly asked if the restaurant was authentic viet and the FILIPINO lady said "can't you see the sign outside" with a dirty look on her face. The cooks don't even speak viet. She is not people friendly... definitely doesn't care if her restaurant has good customer service.

Lackluster experience here; did not find the food good at all. I've never been to Vietnam honestly, but I've had my fair share of authentic pho across restaurants in Orange County, San Jose, and Paris. The soups served at Little Saigon did not do it justice, they were nothing but bowls of disappointment. We were randomly strolling along Zeedijk, where the majority of Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai restaurants are located in Amsterdam. Wander too far and you might stumble across De Wallen's red light district. One glance at the place, and it seemed like a fine little spot for lunch. Prices seemed okay, a little busy inside (which my parents use as an indicator for popularity), and pretty stellar reviews. Bánh mì ranges from €3.5 - €4, with options like chicken, pork, beef, and fried tofu. Most of the menu consists of street food, with several types of rolls, skewers, and buns. There's also a good amount of main courses, you can choose from a variety of dishes like prawns, fried duck breast, and chicken curry. Pho Bo Kho - Lemongrass Beef Stew with noodles. It's an interesting combination, especially if you're used to a more typical broth. The thicker noodles did not play well here, it had a rubbery texture that did not sit right with me and a taste that felt mismatched with the stew. The beef was one redeeming ingredient, but the whole thing was just a hot oily mess. It was a hearty dish, but one I didn't love. Left a lot to be desired unfortunately.

Food is great, service is a little slow but still good quality. The vibe is very Vietnamese and what you would find in a true Vietnamese restaurant. Very good rating for this place!!

I am here on vacation in Amsterdam and it's chilly with a low of 40F and decide to stop by for some warm soup to warm the spirit. Of course we had to experience the local water sources. It was very pleasant just like the atmosphere and the people. Transparency - 5/5 Taste - 5/5 Thickness - 1/5 Temperature - 4/5 Instagram @barkmaklashev

I love soup, asian food, noodles and so I had to visit this place after reading reviews. I ordered a Pho with raw beef.... So now this is my second favorite soup ever. So fresh, so good, I could eat this every day. Thank you!

Will you find authentic Vietnamese food in Amsterdam? NOPE! But is it close to enough to be authentic? Yes, close, but not quite there! Vietnamese food here is honestly better than going to London, but both places still aren't authentic enough like California! And the servers aren't even Vietnamese either.. One thing for sure is that Vietnamese food in California aren't as expensive as Amsterdam!! A Pho Dac Biet for 13.5 euros!? Convert that to US dollars and that's $15.42!? God lord that's expensive.. My BF finished his bowl of Pho, but it definitely wasn't worth the money for it. I had the Com thit nuong plate for 11.5 euros and I finished the whole plate. BUT that's because I was really hungry and I had to get my money's worth (I finish my food even if I don't like it). It also came with peanut sauce and this really thick- what's suppose to be- fish sauce, but it's not fish sauce, maybe more like sweet and sour sauce but more sweet? It was weird..I used both sauces because the meats and shrimp were pretty plain AF and on top of that, the steamed rice was soggy AF too! The only thing I liked from my plate were the eggrolls. Overall, it satisfies your belly when you're hungry! But again it's not authentic Vietnamese food. If you're looking for something that's close then by all means give it a shot! I personally like to try Vietnamese food at new European cities I've never been too and compare them to back home in California. It's my people's food after all and the experience of just trying them at different places is a cool experience!

Ended up here since the thai place up the street was too crowded and we were hungry and wanted something soupy. Pho always hits the spot. I was expecting much but the pho was decent. My girls enjoyed their bowls of pho with meat balls.

Beef pho spring rolls and egg rolls everything was delicious. The pho had wide noodles which made it extra tasty

Great fresh food, made to order. The spring rolls are amazing and made as you order. The pho is delicious, love the noodles, this was my second time at this restaurant. Both times the food was very good and service was fast. A must go to for Vietnamese food while you are in Amsterdam.

Pho with 2 topping: double topping of rare beef

I gotta give this place 5 stars! I don't often eat Vietnamese food. I've tried a handful of restaurants in Amsterdam. This place is by far the best I've tried! Here's the thing. I like pho. It's nice. It's not great, but it's nice. At least, that's what I thought until I tried pho at Little Saigon! What I never liked about the standard pho was the chewy beef and chewy meatballs. It just kind of ruined it for me. At Little Saigon you can choose Pho with 1, 2 or 3 toppings and they can be any kind of beef you want!!! Naturally, I ordered one with 2 toppings, both of which were rare beef. The scent of the pho was very aromatic and intoxicating. The ingredients were all very fresh and delicious. And the flavors were amazing! I really want to go back there and it can't be soon enough! The spring rolls.... OMG! They were friggin amazing! I got one with shrimp and one with grilled chicken. We received two different sauces. I used the runny one for the shrimp and the gooey one for the chicken. I forgot their names and all the ingredients that were in it, but the very welcoming owner explained it carefully and with a non-patronizing smile. Just genuinely nice. The service, overall, was very friendly and adequate. The decor is nice and warm. The location is great. Mostly, however, it was the food! To be more specific about what really wowed me, it was the ingredients. They were all so very fresh! Every single ingredient! It helps when you have a small menu and I'm all for that. The owner, however, notified me that they are looking to expand their menu soon. You won't regret going here. If you're hesitant, just get the pho with 1 topping for €9 and make sure that one topping is rare beef. You'll love it!!!

Is the Vietnamese food trend finally coming to Amsterdam!?! By the end of 2014, it is quite possible that in Amsterdam, we will be eating Bahn Mi sandwiches while walking along the canals and slurping on huge bowls of pho on those gezellig Sunday afternoons. Don't get me wrong though, I gladly accept this Viet-vasion with open arms!! Little Saigon is the latest addition to Zeedijk's 50 shades of yellow restaurant scene. You won't find large golden gongs, jade buddhas statues, or curling lucky bamboos here... and THAT is what makes it more like a real Viet-hole-in-the-wall. I came here for lunch one day and without hesitation ordered the Rare Beef Pho. Of course, I had to try their Cha Gio Tom (shrimp eggrolls) downed with my fave viet liquid caffeine - cafe sua da (sweetend drip coffee). After squeezing the Dennis-approved portion of Hoison, Sriracha and fresh lime into my pho, I dumped all the veggies and went to TOWN! The pho was pho-tastic!! For a moment, I got caught up in the slurping and primal devouring of my pho and by the time I caught my breath, I realized my shirt had several pho splatters and I seemed to have startled the German tourists eating at the table next to me. Sooooooollyyyyyyyyyy!!!! The eggroll was also great! I wrapped that phallic crispy tube of viet-filling in lettuce and whorishly stuffed it in my mouth. On a side note, eggroll recipes are tied to Vietnamese families. I make eggrolls like my mom taught me and we make fun of other vietnamese families with niet zo lekker eggrolls as if the flavor of their rolls described the lack of flavor in their family! Anyway, at Little Saigon, I will NOT be making fun of their family, for the eggroll I had tasted just as it should. ONE suggestion for Little Saigon would be to serve it with Nuoc Mam and NOT sweet chili thai sauce... we ain't Thai, mmmmk!! On top of that, homegirl who was my waitress that day was super nice!! Lekker pho, lekker weer, lekker bediening.... Lekker 4 stars!!

"Pfuh".. If pho can't keep my attention while hovering over a steamy bowl and all I'm thinking about is the ramen I could've had at Le Fou Fow or the laksa I'm missing out on at Nyonya Malaysia Express, it's not a good sign. Ok, let me just put it like this, it's like when I'm on a date and I keep checking out other guys even though I'm trying my best not to. Lost cause really. While working my way through the bowl of pho, couldn't help but think "will this ever end". Partly because of the huge portion, but also because the flavors of the broth weren't complex enough to keep me interested... We also tried the fried shrimp spring roll (don't bother! unless the waitress was wrong and we indeed did get the vegetable version by mistake) and the fresh beef summer roll (which was so-so). Couldn't stop wondering how everything tasted so much better at Saigon Cafe. At least there they have those juicy caramelized lambs chops and the Xeo! Oew, and them tasty Bols cocktails, which especially during happy hour are a good deal for €5! The smoothie one was particularly nice. Similar to the strawberry cheesecake 1 but with fresh lemon juice and fresh strawberries muddled in. And at least visually bigger. Hmmm, but then again, maybe it's those cocktails clouding my judgment, making me believe everything tastes way better over there.

Little Saigon is the 2nd venue of Saigon Cafe which is opened a while ago at the Zeedijk @ Nieuwmarkt! The restaurant is pretty small (so not good for large groups if you want to sit together) and design simple, but trendy. The Pho is pretty good! I have chosen the one with 3 different meat (rare beef, beef balls and beef well done). You will get a dish with taugé and other vegetables and red pepper to put it in your Pho soup. The quantity of the Pho soup and vegetables is good in my opinion and the soup tastes great! So for 12€ it is value for your money I must say. Salad roll with beef satay was also really good! The springroll with shrimps was ok, because we didn't taste any shrimps in it. Overall: a great addition for the China Town to taste some good Pho!

    Yum!

As an Asian girl in Amsterdam, this new Vietnamese food trend currently happening is so so amazing! This place is one of my (new) favourites! When here, try the lemon grass ice tea or the Vietnamese-style espresso with ice AND condensed milk. Then finish it off with the classic pho and banh mi! Service is great and quick, food is wonderful and it's in the heart of Chinatown. What more can you ask for? I'll be back pho-shizzle!

Viet View is a Vietnamese style food vendor with a little bit of a twist on the original recipes…read more They offer banh mi (sandwiches), bun (vermicelli bowls), and cha goi (spring rolls). Their prices are a bit on the higher side, but after receiving my banh mi and seeing the shear size of it, I understand the prices and believe they are appropriate. I ordered a pork belly banh mi with chili peppers included, and I was surprised by how big it was and how close to the traditional banh mi it was. The real difference would be the use of the chili peppers vs. jalapenos (maybe that's just an American thing) and the shredded pork belly versus cuts of it. Regardless, it was delicious and filling without feeling too heavy. Definitely recommend.
