I used to love Little Tokyo and ate there often with my family. The quality of their food was fantastic, but no longer. Now the meat is cooked so it is either tough or raw in the middle. The veggies used to be cooked properly, but over the last year they have changed to over cooked and mushy pretty much all of the time. I couldn't tell you how the noodles are recently, as we gave up ordering them a couple years ago since they are never fresh unless you get them right when they open. It's like they only make one batch a day. The staff have started to explicitly point out the tip section and were really pressuring us by pointing out the 20% "or custom if you want to go higher". This really left a bad taste in my mouth, as I tip at the table after service. Besides this is really a fast food restaurant, the ordering and receiving is the same as a Chick-fil-A and McDonald's. You order at the counter, get your own drink and refills, and pickup your utensils, napkins and sauces then seat yourself. When you're done you clean up afer yourself. Goodbye Little Tokyo. You were good, but I can't keep buying your food just to toss in the trash everything but the rice. read more

Absolutely the BEST hibachi food I've literally EVER had EVER! And I've had a lot of hibachi in many places. At least out of NC , GA, & TN they have THE best! Great hibachi restaurant in Hixson in a former Wendy's. You order at the register. If you are dining in, they bring your food out on real plates with metal flatware. After the last year of pandemic takeout, getting to eat at a restaurant with fresh, hot food on real plates is a treat, especially at this price point. Upon arriving, it's a very small hole-in-the-wall place. It wasn't busy but that's okay, we prefer it that way. The employee at the counter was very sweet and provided really good customer service! My wife has eaten here many times and was always very complimentary but I never ate here until today. The place is not the most appealing from the outside but don't let that put you off. Nothing that a paint job couldn't fix. More importantly, the restaurant inside and food are actually quite good. I think this used to be an old fast food place as it still has the drive through window. You walk in and order from their menu at the counter and they cook it fresh in their open air kitchen and then bring it out to you. Nothing fancy but fresh, hot, and well prepared. I ordered their steak and shrimp. Plenty for two. I couldn't finish mine. Nice fresh cut vegetables cooked on the flat top grill; tender steak and juicy shrimp in a nice sauce. You can add white sauce if you wish. Their white sauce was also very good. I was very happy with my meal. It was tasty, large portions, and fresh. We ate dinner at Little Tokyo Express on Hixson Pike last night for the first time. It was only 5:00 p.m. but the parking lot already had quite a few vehicles in it. We decided to give it a try, and that was such a great decision! One of us ordered shrimp and steak and the other ordered shrimp teriyaki. Both meals were served with fried rice and grilled vegetables. The fried rice was fluffy and seasoned perfectly. My side vegetables included onions, mushrooms, and zucchini. My husband ordered sweet carrots. Both of our entrees were freshly prepared in front of us and were absolutely delicious. The shrimp were large, plump, and cooked to perfection. The steak in my husband's dinner was tender and also grilled and seasoned to perfection. The dining room was very clean and comfortable. The service was excellent. Our server explained the menu and answered our questions. She was very professional and friendly, and made us feel very welcome. Prices were great and the amount of food was generous. My husband and I wanted to try this place and I'm sorry we did. We arrived at 8:30, they closed at 9. We would have been out by 9 but they messed up our order. At 8:50 a worker comes out and tells me to "quickly" eat my food so they can leave. As far as the quality of food, my chicken was raw. Stopped here on a Sunday night and went to the pickup window. Ordered just a basic teriyaki chicken to go. They asked if I wanted veggies or just carrots. I said just carrots as these types of places usually overcook the veggies and I figured carrots would be the safest bet. The person at the pickup window was very nice and said my order would be ready soon and if I could pull into a parking spot and they would bring it out to me. It's a local Hibachi place. I think a Wendy's used to occupy this building. I wouldn't call it my favorite hibachi. Like other reviewers, I'm going to agree and say the food quality could be better. Wait. Let me clarify that. The place is clean and the food is served hot and you probably won't get sick from eating here. I'm saying that I like high quality meats in my hibachi. The chicken usually seems a little fatty and the steak is hit or miss. This last time, my steak was a bit grisly for my taste. The rice is fine and the vegetables are good. Guy at the register isn't a real friendly sort. When my ticket came out of the register instead of handing it to me (I reached for it with my hand) he tossed it down on the counter like he just flopped down a winning poker hand. To boot, he tossed the pen at the ticket. I didn't have to think long about the tip portion on the ticket. =/ I will say that I don't ever finish my food. The portion is large, but to me that doesn't necessarily equate to big quality. I would rather pay for a smaller portion that is better quality. (eg. Filet Mignon) Some people are into giant portions. If you got a big appetite, you may love this joint. I think it's a bit pricey for what it is. I would suggest go with steak and shrimp. Sticky with more of a nutty flavor (jasmine?) than the standard issue plain white rice at other places. The chicken was cooked very nicely and the mixed vegetables tasted fresh enough. The vegetables were cooked to a fairly soft texture, which I like. Each entree comes with two plastic cups of white sauce, which was enough for me and my wife. Extra cups are $0.50. I really like this place. It isn't as fancy as other hibachi places in the area, but it is reasonably priced and the food tastes just as good. You can either go inside or call ahead and pick up your food at the window. I've done both. The food takes maybe 5-10 minutes to cook, but it's hot and fresh when they serve it. You can choose a meat dish, and it's served with fried rice and mixed veggies or carrots. I've had the chicken and the beef, and both were really good. The fried rice is amazing, but prepare for it to be a little buttery. The veggies are great as well. The portions are really big for the 7 or 8 dollars you pay. The downside? The atmosphere is kind of bad. Maybe equal to a run-down McDonalds or Burger King. There are just booths and no decorations or color, and it's kind of dark in there. But that's the only downside to an otherwise delicious and affordable place. I highly recommend it. read more

If you want hibachi but don't have the time or want to spend the money that are involved with Kampai or Ichiban than you should consider Little Tokyo. I usually call ahead and then go through the drive thru. Hubby loves the beef, shrimp, chicken combo. They have an excellent ginger sauce (if you go inside it is stored in the giant thermos looking things). The mixed vegetables are good. The portions are large enough that I usually get two meals out of it. They do very well at accommodating requests and I have never had a single error in any of my orders. Everything is packed well and side items / condiments are packaged in their own container. A reasonably priced and tasty option for those who love hibachi. read more
