I'm sorry to say our experience with Whitehall was not a good one. First, the facility is dated and…read moreis in desperate need of repairs to the walls, and it needs to be painted. I only mention this since it's the first impression you get when you go into the facility. The good: the people working there in skilled nursing, physical, and occupational therapy seem to truly care about the patients. There are two main problems: (1) the food is awful, and (2) they don't have enough staff to support the patients. We were there with an older relative who had a knee replacement. She was not able to, or supposed to get up on her own and even needed help to go into the restroom. While we were there the first day, she hit the call button and we waited so long for someone to come to help her, she almost soiled herself. I had to go out of the room and find someone who could assist. The first night she was there, again she hit the call button for restroom assistance. Again, she waited to the point where she got up herself. Of course, someone one day out of knee surgery shouldn't do that, but it was that or soil herself so she got up. She made it to the restroom before she fell, requiring a trip to the ER. The next day, we talked to one of the therapists who explained they had someone call in sick the day before, requiring the facility to move someone off of our floor to a different one. This left her the only person monitoring the patients on our floor. They couldn't keep up with the patients. The next day, we spoke with a manager who contradicted the aide saying she didn't know why we were told they were short staffed and said they weren't. That was when I realized we couldn't rely on them to take care of her and decided she should be moved back to her assisted living facility and hire skilled nursing and physical therapy. I cannot in good conscience recommend Whitehall. I see similar comments in some of the other reviews, which I should have read before placing her there. I am terribly disappointed and even though moving her and hiring the help ourselves was much more expensive, I couldn't keep her in a facility where I couldn't count on the care. Oh - I gave them three stars rather than one or two because of the quality of the therapists. If they weren't good, my rating would have been much lower. Also, I see enough pictures of the facility posted that I didn't think I needed to take any. The ones posted by reviewers are pretty spot on.

As a parent, this level of enthusiasm goes a long way in my book. Additionally, Lindsay is an extremely talented therapist who has not only helped my daughter make significant strides in mere months, but also proven to me the value of OT (which says a lot since I was previously pretty skeptical). I also appreciate that after my daughter's initial assessment there was a clear plan for treatment. We've had good follow up on the PT side (which was deemed a lower priority) and good communication between therapists. It's nice to have a more comprehensive approach rather than carting between multiple therapy appointments, therapists, and clinics.

I contacted this practice to request an **in-person** consultation. The first question I was asked was not my name or concern, but rather, "What insurance do you have?" I was then informed that **all initial consultations are conducted virtually**. Despite expressing multiple times that I was only comfortable with an in-person visit, I was repeatedly told to proceed with scheduling a virtual appointment and to check with my insurance about coverage. After setting an appointment, I again inquired about the earliest possible date for an in-person follow-up. I was told that most clients don't need in-person visits and that one might be possible the following week if they decided it was warranted. I felt dismissed and somewhat embarrassed for asking--despite my request being both personal and reasonable. For many, myself included, the idea of being partially undressed on a Zoom call is deeply uncomfortable, especially when discussing something as sensitive as breastfeeding. I also had concerns that a virtual visit might rely too heavily on generic recommendations, many of which I've already tried. Lactation consultants need to be present to help the mom maneuver their breast. This is supposed to be (to the extent a mother wants this) a hands-on experience. When I decided to cancel my appointment, **only then** was I offered an in-person visit the very next day. At that point, I no longer felt confident that this provider would prioritize or listen to my individual needs, so I chose to seek care elsewhere. While I do believe this practice could be a helpful resource for others, my personal experience fell short. From the initial focus on insurance over care, to the lack of flexibility or empathy regarding my comfort and preferences, it became clear this was not the right fit for me. I'm seeking support from someone who genuinely wants to help me meet my breastfeeding goals--not someone who sees me as just another appointment on the schedule.

Reading similar reviews has been validating to my experiences, and I hope to bring similar feelings to other women. I was paired with Melissa through my insurance and she seemed like she'd be a nice fit. The ladies in my doula group had nice things to say about her and she had very positive online reviews, so I was optimistic. We had an intake session by phone a few weeks before my baby was born and she seemed nice enough, I was still optimistic. Unfortunately, when my baby showed up it was a different story. I delivered on a Friday so the lactation consultant at the hospital wasn't there for the weekend and I was having a bit of trouble figuring out techniques etc. After a few days, my baby started to drop weight and I was absolutely terrified. I contacted Melissa hoping she could help us, but instead all I received was a dismissive response (via text) stating that she could only see us in person several weeks into the future and the only appts that she had available more immediately were online. Not very helpful in a moment like that. I felt like my baby and I didn't matter to her at all - that we were just boxes on her to do list to be checked off when she felt like it. It was very hurtful. Fortunately, our maintenance man happened to be in our apartment fixing the heat and gave us some helpful tips from what he learned from his wife and their four kids that helped us get through the night (pleasant surprises in life :)). The following day, our pediatrician really showed up for us and luckily had a lactation nurse on staff whom saw us in person ASAP and it all worked out in the long run. I don't write this review to be mean, but once again rather to validate women who might have had similar experiences or may have them in the future. This seems much more important to write a review about than a mediocre restaurant. I'm glad to hear so many women have had positive experiences with Melissa, I just wish we were one of them. As I've seen Melissa write in response to similar reviews, we wish her the best.

Mandy is a wonderful physical therapist! I have been seeing Mandy on and off for the past 3 years…read morethrough my 2 pregnancies. One being a c-section and the other a v-bac. She helped me tremendously with my postpartum recovery. From C-section recovery and scar treatment/care to pelvic floor dysfunction and pain. I was also having severe back pain from nursing my 2nd son where I physically felt like I couldn't pick my children up or rock my baby and within a week I was feeling better and within 2-3 weeks the pain was gone and never came back. Mandy also helped me during my 2nd pregnancy prepartum with the aches and pains that came along with pregnancy and caring for a toddler. Along with preparing me with ideas and tips that my husband and sister could use to help alleviate some pain during contractions/labor. As soon as I was able to get back to PT I contacted her immediately. Not only is Mandy a phenomenal PT she is a lovely person. She is friendly, understanding, and easy to talk to. As a mother going through postpartum, it was truly a highlight of my week to spend time with Mandy at our PT sessions for an hour. To be clear of my experience: Therapist was outstanding…read more Reason behind my rating: When I had originally enrolled my son to work with this facility my first and most important request was that he would have the ability to work with the same therapist. In receiving services with cps there was a lot inconsistency with services and the therapist was changing frequently. So naturally I thought that if we paid for private services this problem can be avoided. So I searched for a private practice . I was assured that the request for having my child consistently work with the same therapist would be fulfilled. Those assurances gave me peace of mind and with that we enroll our child. Now I'm being informed that my child will no longer be able to work with the same therapist due to policy change. I asked what the out of pocket expense would be to keep my son with the same therapist and was informed that "regrettably" that wasn't an option. Again I re-iterated to the facility prior to enrollment the importance it was for me to have 1 instructor work with my child. And now (a few short months later) my family and I can no longer be accommodated.
