I really feel that they have my child's best interest at heart and am so pleased with progress he is making.

When my daughter needed extra help ... they treated her more as a criminal than a caring human. I will share with everyone I know that Plena is not a place for healing for our children who need it. It saddens me that my daughter endured more trauma to her life by attending Plena.

When I discussed this with them the next day they tried to lie about it until I told them another therapist told me this. They also made a lot of assumptions about our family, the supports he was getting, and even our own family diagnosis. They told us that they don't believe in any supports such as sensory supports. They said if a child brings in noise cancelling headphones, they won't let them use it because they need to learn to live without. They have a sensory tent that they don't let kids use because it's "stigmatizing". This is concerning if you are having them work with your school on their IEP. This is not an inclusive place for special needs kids, especially neurodivergent kiddos. They continued to put him in an isolating room, with no calm down tools, even for things such as just talking during schoolwork. They get kids to comply because they scare them with these techniques. The research out there does not support this treatment and I'm surprised places like this still exist! After two weeks of my kiddo developing worsening anxiety, we pulled him and rescinded all Release of Information forms. They then immediately called our private doctor and school to lie and tell them how well our child was doing (hello Hipaa violation!!). They get 2 stars from our family because the actual program is great for kiddos who either aren't ND or those who don't exhibit externalizing behavior from anxiety. Thankfully, it only took our kiddo 5 days to get back to his normal happy self and I'm realizing an individual therapist who specializes in autism awareness is the way to go. I hope to never have to think about this place again!

My baby died of suicide two weeks after moving into college. You do not provide adequate care and your doctors, including Dr. Prinz think that Ketamine is the answer to everything. Because the staff is primarily composed of Caucasian women, they responded as Caucasian women usually do, They did not take the time to impartially investigate the situation in its entirety. My trauma reaction was to refuse to leave the room, so the group session could be continued. So the staff decided to move the session to another room and the Caucasian woman agreed to go. This is another white power structure play, the white power structure will favor those who will play their game of feigned-surrender; meaning because I was refusing to give up my seat to another patient and refused to leave the room - I was deemed the problem. I was so triggered I was unable to request tools to help me to calm down. I have experienced over five decades of white supremacy and was in treatment for a myriad of reasons, one of which was workplace bullying at the hands of Caucasian women, so yeah in that moment I struggled to calm down. Eventually I was asked to leave because I yelled and cussed while speaking with one of the medical site directors. I take full responsibility for my yelling and cussing. I wish I did not raise my voice and cuss because treatment should be a safe space for all. Staff needs to address their racism, which plays out in how they treat clients and respond to crisis situations. My previous post was removed by Yelp because they stated it was not detailed. Well here are the deets!

You may be reading this and thinking this is hyperbole but we brought him in after a speech regression and had our expectations very low. We were expecting a handful of words. After the first speech block he did, we saw miraculous results--phrases and songs and the like. Serious grab the Kleenex stuff. Since then, we have only seen greater milestones passed, funny moments of commenting and describing, and challenging of our son that shows they get him and know what he can say and do. If you have had your kiddo see a speech therapist you know what that means. If you want to engage speech therapists for your child--of any age--from whom you will see significant results and who are smart and tailored in their approach to cracking the code of how your kid operates, look no more. Highest recommendation.

Promised us he would have a couple of words at the conclusion of the therapy. We tried. And failed. Sweeney and Augustin is considered out of network and while they charged us 6K the insurance only counted 1200. Worse, it was considered out of network so even the 1200 simply went against the out of network deductible. This should have been avoided by doing a pre-authorization but something they didn't offer or encourage. They overpromised, hugely overcharged and didn't deliver.

Okay so I was here for a week let me tell you this place needs to be shut down…read more So first when I got there. I got assessed. And then they make you stripped down to check you for cuts. Then they give you back your clothes. But the staff was just so rude like I get it I wouldn't want your job either but god damn. Then most of the time you have therapy in the morning and then You just sit in your room and do nothing, which makes thoughts a lot worse which caused me to more self harm in there, then all the psychiatrist and therapist are so mean like yeah sorry this is your job but at least you get paid so don't be rude. And I would say the therapies were OK. They were definitely not the best. I feel like the outpatient center in Naperville helped a lot more. Then when you're in your room, all you can do is read in color and journal. Which to me definitely doesn't help with thoughts or urges it makes them a lot worse. Then when I tried to talk to the girl right across from me They at me. Like even when you try to socialize. Then we're not even allowed outside. Winch to me is so f**cked up like it was nice outside. Then when you do have a mental breakdown, nobody cares. They only check on you every 15 minutes. They don't even say anything. So you just have to deal with it. Like THAT IS SO MESSED UP LIKE THIS IS YOUR JOB. Then another part I thought was messed up. Is when someone would freak out and a lot of nurses came into the unit and the police officer. They would just tell everyone go to their room or we where probably all ready there like we were for most of the time which made even more people freak out. Winch caused everyone to freak it out. And fhe staff didn't talk to us or even check on us. Then at night people would be crying or talking really loud and it was just really scary. And low-key pmo. Like we couldn't even close are doors they where wide open. Then if you didn't go to a group or you self harmed in there you couldn't leave unit you had to stay in your room WINCH IS SO MESSED UP LIKE FUCKING HELP US NOT KEEP US IN OUR ROOM. Then girls be warned if your period there the men act like kids they freak out about it like act like the adult you are. Next people there said the meanest shit and the staff would not care like that's how fights happen Just saying... and when my parents would visit me I would beg them to take me home and cry for hours. And finally, when I went home, they saw all self harm on my legs I did in there, my mom has a huge regret of ever sending me there I told my mom this SHE WAS PISSED. And for my people who struggle with addiction the staff don't care they bring zyn in and don't hide it they bring there vapes there like we weren't dumb and didn't know what it is so yeah, Then the worst thing I saw in there was this 12-year-old girl being strapped down to a chair and injected because she was freaking out like OMG NO. And because she ripped paint off the walls like my girly is a queen for that like if you're not gonna give us anything to do that's what you get. .But there's just a lot of other things that I could go on about, but I would just go somewhere else. I still have horrible flash backs from this place.
