We are regulars at this establishment across town. The food is always good and consistent. I always order the fish tacos on the skillet (they are normally fried) and it usually takes a while to get your order. The staff is very friendly and helpful. But the food always takes time. I want to start by saying that I love this place--both the taste of the food and the service in the past. However, today's experience was disappointing. While I was there, I witnessed the cook using a breathalyzer device right in front of me and another customer. I'm not here to judge anyone personally, but doing that in front of clients seems unprofessional. When I mentioned my concern to the young waitress, she dismissed it and told me I was being petty for complaining. That response really surprised me and made me feel like my concern wasn't taken seriously. I went to this place with my family today. Looking at plates they were delivered on tables, it looks like their portions good. The staff was kind and courteous. The place is over-crowded, there are too many tables and they are too close together. If you have accessibility issues, this is definitely a tight squeeze, I could do it with crutches, because a lot of kind people let through, as there is only one narrow path in and out. I don't think a wheelchair would be be to navigate the place. Our food took quite a long time, about 45 min. Then it took quite a while for us to get our check. My wife and I really enjoy the food at Little Shack. We eat at their various restaurant's 2 to 3 times a month. This rating is due to my experience on 8/27/2024 at the 1355 George Dieter Dr. location. We arrived and sat at a table at 8:40pm. The posted hours are from 11:00am - 9:00pm. The staff kindly informed us that the kitchen was already closed. I would have addressed this directly on the spot but my wife asked that I not make a scene. Maybe there was a good reason to shut down early but if you just wanted to get off work earlier, please change your posted hours of operation to indicate that you actually close at 8:30pm. read more

Came in for a quick lunch with family. It was empty when we arrived which was very nice. We ordered an appetizer, meals, drinks and were able to leave within an hour and a half. That's great, considering it looked as though there were only two to three servers and a full house when we left. The food was okay, not great but I commend them on their prices and service. My main food complaint was that the Ahi Tuna was cooked not raw. I never had that before. Bummer. The menu is very easy to understand but that detail was not listed or perhaps it was their mistake. Three of us came for lunch, and it's a hoppin'. We all had fish or shrimp tacos, and they were great! They have a nice variety of beer ( import and domestic) and soft drinks. I had an oyster shooter and fish tacos with a Modelo Especiale to drink. It really hit the spot! The table next to us had Shrimp Coctails, and I was thinking, wow! I'll try one next time. Prices are very reasonable, and the food was top notch. If you're in El Paso it's worth eating here. Great food, excellent service, and well worth it. I'm leaving 1 stars because the food and drink at Little Shack is really good but the service is terrible. I don't know who is in charge but when you have posted service hours you should follow them. More than 1 occasion the staff have closed more than an hour early , first time we experienced that was ok but it has happened over and over again. Last time we walked in , sat down and was told they where closed ( keep in mind there was people still eating inside the restaurant) Hours posted that day stated they closed 9pm and we arrived at 8pm. We will never attend this business again. I guess owners don't care about their customers if they allow staff to treat paying customers like that. I really enjoyed the (3) fish tacos, I wasn't expecting fried fish but it was still delicious. Two different types of salsa came with the tacos and I loved both them. I ordered a side of rice and it was pretty tasty as well, the chips and salad where different but really good. The building it's really small it's "sports-bar" type of vibe to it. Has some well seasoned Swai Fish Tacos. Has a Shrimp Quesadilla also which actually had Shrimp, unlike California which is 1 piece cut in half. Their Chipotle Mayo is better than most I have tried and their green tomatillo salsa for fish taco. The creamy salsa for the chips can be a little intense...spicy! This place was recommended to me by my mother in law. I was completely disappointed. The table we sat at had all kinds of food on the floor which completely turned me off I don't know I'm just picky like that. I had the Baja tacos my husband had the steak and shrimp. We also got the calamari. The calamari was a total bust, it was actually really gross I don't know if it was the plate itself or the cheese they sprinkle on top but it smelled horrible like a wet rag. Take out - two soups-shrimp and fish. The worse in taste and luck of preparation. A red liquid with vegetables that have been boiling the whole day, I eat the six tinny, hard, no taste shrimp only. The first time I visited Little Shack was on a Sunday at about noon. We were surprised it wasn't busy with the church crowd. We had a large party but the server was very accommodating. I ordered the queso fundido as an appetizer & it was better than any I've had at other Mexican restaurants. I had a manzanita & the steak tacos as my entree. The tacos came with lots of veggies & 3 was the perfect amount for me. Other people in my party went for different versions of the fish or shrimp tacos & everything looked delicious. The lemonade drink they make in house is really really weird. It's so tart that no one wanted to drink it. Same goes for the shaken tea. Avoid these and just get a fountain drink. For dessert I had the best flan ever. It was perfect and had me craving it for weeks. When I finally gave in to that craving it was a busy Friday and I had a completely different service experience. Our appetizer was never made and you could tell the wait staff was overwhelmed. Service was pretty slow as a result. My steak tacos came with nothing on them. The flan was still stellar.
