Ok. For those who remember, I gave Cilantro in Cinci OH a rave review not only for their flavor, but their complete and utter disregard for "portion control". Well. Apparently Little Saigon failed to get the portion control memo also and upped the ante on the flavor department. On the road, in the rain, and in the cold...yes 25F is cold to a Texan, I was in search of the most noble of fares to warm ones soul to the core...PHO!!!! After a quick consultation with Yelp, I happily determined there was Pho-age nearby my hotel. So I wrapped warm and was off. Being somewhat of a pho snob...I immediately ordered the Pho Tai Bo Vein or thin sliced beef with meatballs. What arrived was not a bowl...but a cauldron of pho. It was honestly bigger than my head. Being the polite chap I am, I first tasted the broth. Delectable. I added just a smidge of hoisin, soy, and placed the basil leaves in the far corner to steep as the broth cooled down. Sooooooo...what does one do whilst waiting for pho to cool down? Correct. Drink Sake. The restaurant presents it in a cool way too. So ones drink doesn't cool down too much they put it in boiling water. Clever. Time to dive in and crush this bowl. Or so I thought. I honestly had to text my wife play by play timelines. It took me...literally...20 minutes of non-stop eating to crush this bowl. It was like playing a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos but the damn balls never stop coming...until they do. The meat was tender. The meatballs were perfect. Everything was seasoned very well and the noodles were like a bazillion little stars exploding in my mouth at the same time. Exquisite. This is kind of a hole-in-the-wall type place. It's a Springfield staple and is kind of like a time capsule - things just stand still. I've gone various time over the last decade and I have to say, after not going for several years, our visit last night has moved them to the top of the list for Asian/Thai cuisine in the area. Very clean inside. Very. I am meticulous and walls, floors, tables, everything was clean. All staff were masked. They quickly cleaned tables and floors after diners left. Food came out in a very reasonable amount of time and was hot, fresh and delicious. Highly recommend the Pad Thai, Lo Mein and Sesame Chicken. Possible the best Sesame Chicken I've ever had. Our waiter was so friendly, sweet and polite. He provided wonderful and efficient service. Also - make sure you get a Freeze. Both the Strawberry and Coconut are out of this world! read more

We had a wonderful lunch yesterday at Little Saigon. I was not just the food, more importantly it was about how the staff worked with us to enable us to safely enjoy dining there despite multiple food sensitivities. Our son cannot handle gluten (wheat, barley, rye) or dairy. My wife cannot handle sugar or msg. When we spoke with a lead waitress about menu items that could be gluten-free, she was hesitant and said "soy sauce" as she got it (soy sauce typically has some wheat). We then asked if they could use the gluten-free tamari sauce we had in the cooler in our car, she said she thought that would work, and she would need to check with her manager. Well, he came out quickly and after looking at our sauce alternative, he carefully took our order, making sure to address all our needs. We all thoroughly enjoyed everything. My son had the Singapore Vermicelli, spicy - large portion for a lunch special. My wife had the Pad Woosen - completely mild (she used to eat spicy, and now can't tolerate it). I had Crazy Noodles, spicy. Also had the lemongrass chicken wings (not CF). The Crazy Noodles was amazing - flavor and size, spiced perfectly. But what stood out is each component - broccoli, pea pod, baby corn, beef... all were individually very flavorful. While we live fairly far away, in the future, whenever we are in or passing through Springfield, Little Saigon will be our go to place. read more

The food can be hit or miss. One night a person that I was treating to dinner ordered a shrimp curry dish. The made it with pork. We send it back. We asked politely for the remake. The dish they provided was too spicy hot to even taste. The menu describes the dish as a sweet curry. I have enjoyed the dish before. But this was too spicy hot. Manager said we could have a credit next time we came in. That never happened. Too sad they treat their mistake this way. read more

I can't even start to describe the disappointment I feel with this place! I was traveling for work and after a long day all I wanted to do was go back to my hotel room and order delivery. Once teaching my hotel room, I discover that I don't have many options for delivery so I start searching for places near the area. I came across little Saigon.... I place my order and they give me a 15min window; perfect, that's how long it will take to get there from my hotel! At arrival I asked the gentleman that was handing me my food to out silverware and soy sauce inside the bag, he assured me everything was already packaged in. Great! Well I arrive to my hotel room and I have no silverware. Appreciate it! If I downstairs and thankfully they had a fork for me. I ordered a hot and sour soup, which I wasn't able to try because I didn't have a spoon. Then comes the shrimp pad Thai- unimpressed. The shrimp was chewy and the pad Thai was sticky. I've heard from many local Springfield food connoisseurs that Little Siagon is a must go if you're in the mood for Thai or Vietnamese. It was our first visit there. The inside is a little dated and run down, but if you're coming here it's not for the décor, so lets get to the food. We started with the spring rolls, which seemed to come out almost as soon as we ordered them. They were delicious and the dipping sauce had a nice consistency to it. I ordered the beef, broccoli, mushroom and baby corn. The beef was tender, and dish savory. The vegetables were well cooked, but it wasn't life-changing. My husband ordered the Singapore noodles, which were delicious. The service was great, can't complain there. Extremely quick and very polite. read more

Stopped here during the winter and although the service was good and the atmosphere was quite similar to Asian cuisine restaurants the food simply was not good. I took half of my meal home and when I tried to reheat it the next day it was just as bad. My fiancé who is a huge fan of Asian cuisine (much more experienced in this field than myself), said the same thing as her meal was average at best. To be fair other members of my family love this place and stop here often for crab rangoon...maybe we just had a bad meal, but it was enough for us to stray away from returning any time soon. read more

This place is simply amazing. I found it, really, by mistake. No one told me about it and I didn't read any reviews prior to walking in to place an order one day. I figured that if I could find something on the menu that looked familiar, I would just give it a shot. Jackpot!!!! In a one month. I have been there no less than six times. The Penang Curry is delicious. I have asked for them to make it as spicy as possible. The flavors are well blended and the heat is perfect. The chicken is actually chicken (lol) and it is very tender. I also have tried the dumplings, both steamed and fried. Stick with the steamed.... I had a second curry dish that was recommended by one of the staffers there. She told me that if I like peanuts that I would love the dish. She was correct. The team that works there is always friendly and it's great to talk football with them. Even though I get carry out every time, the restaurant is always clean and inviting. Egg rolls - you could find just as good in the frozen food section at a fraction of the price Tom Yum - ok flavor and spice but over cooked shrimp and WAY heavy on tomatoes Pad Thai- oh dear GOD! Severely lacking in bean sprouts and basic freshness, but worst of all is the sauce. Who in their right mind slathers Pad Thai in tomato sauce? Adds a sweet, acidic awfulness that is really unpleasant. Also, probably the least welcome I've ever felt in a restaurant. I'm sorry I interrupted the baseball game but you're running a business. Wasn't really impressed. Maybe a different menu choice would change my review. However, they are supposedly a Vietnamese restaurant but not a single Bánh mì on the menu at all (a serious bummer) but they do have Pho. They have lots of Asian dishes on the menu aside from Vietnamese though including Chinese, Thai. I WISH I had gone with a Thai curry dish but I figured since they are Vietnamese, stick with that genre. I got pork and shrimp Vietnamese pancakes. Two HUGE pancakes arrived which contained a total of exactly 4 shrimp and 4 small pieces of pork plus 1/2lb of bean sprouts. The pancakes were greasy and the sauce served with them was crazy sweet - like they melted down jelly beans or something. Service was great and the place was really packed. Like I said, I think my rating would have been better with a different food choice. Not impressed today. read more

Ever since we moved from New Orleans to Cincinnati about a decade ago, we've been missing Vietnamese food. It's still hard to come by in the Ohio River Valley and, seemingly, the Midwest in general. So on the road we often make a bee-line to restaurants serving it, even when it's a pan-Asian outfit like Little Saigon. Little Saigon's got a voluminous menu embracing Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese items, plus more. The menus you get at your table, as opposed to the on-line menu, features helpful photos of every dish! Oftentimes restaurants like this botch all of those cuisines, but Little Saigon apparently isn't one of them. Pho Dac Biet (called "Pho Saigon" here) was pretty great: Bolder-than-average and well-balanced broth, at least for "Flyover Country," and thinly sliced beef that properly arrived at the table almost rare. The condiments on the side were plentiful and fresh. Folks visiting Springfield from the big coastal metros might say this pho is nothing great, but I'll say it's surprisingly good for a small city like this--I've had far worse--and it's apparently the only game in town. Surprisingly, the wife ordered a Thai red curry, and reported that this dish was excellent, too. Brother-in-law got some kind of Chinese beef broccoli dish that seemed quite a bit better and fresher than the Chinese-American average. The restaurant's sprawling and spacious, bigger inside than it looks from the outside. Seating was comfortable. Decor is kind of pastel-ish and maybe starting to date a bit. From Little Saigon's opening years ago, I have enjoyed the interior, which is exceptionally clean, bright, and comfortable, but I come for the extraordinary cuisine. The ingredients are always the freshest, highest quality, and eye-pleasing. I have found every meal a gastronomical delight! I may start with chicken Salad-Goi Ga, Baby Egg Rolls & Siagon Dumplings, Shrimp Tempura, or Crab Rangoon with either Thai Ice Tea or Freeze with Tapioca and occasionally when cold outside, I may have hot tea. My favorite entrees; Mi Dac Biet* or Mi Do Bien, Seafood Baked Rice, Banh Xeo-Crispy Vietnamese Crepe, Thai Vegetable with seafood combination, and Pad Thai you go home feeling happy & energized instead of heavy or uncomfortable. Love to take family or friends. Servers are quick and pleasant though not all speak fluent English; the menu makes it easy to order. Pictures and descriptions of food are easy to see. We had the panang curry and mongolian beef, thai iced te and cold spring rolls and thai vegetables w/ ricw, all wonderfull and the price 40 w/ tax. I've always loved Little Saigon and every time I come back, I'm reminded why. Everything is delicious. They've recently taken on new ownership who, I believe, were the chefs under the previous ownership. Anyway, they've updated the menus and the food is beautifully bursting with flavor. I thought Saigon was in Vietnam? When I went here tonight, I fully intended to get some pho. But when I asked my waiter how the pho was, he said it was okay. Not a raving endorsement of what should be their signature dish. Then I looked at the menu. This place should be called "All types of Asian food." Holy cow, the menu was extensive - Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese and even a couple of Korean dishes. So I ordered the chicken wrap app and the chicken panang. Both dishes were actually very good. The wraps had a good amount of the fish sauce in it and gave it that distinctive flavor from Thai food. The chicken panang was also flavorful and tasty. Maybe next time I go, I will take my chances and try the pho. But next time I am in town, I will definitely be eating here again. read more

This Asian restaurant is not just limited to Thai or Vietnamese dishes, but has some flavors from just about the whole of southeast Asia. The waitstaff are attentive, accurate, and helpful. They handle special requests and complex orders with ease. The decor is odd, but not unpleasant. Take-out orders are handled promptly, given accurate estimates of time, packaged well, and with parking often available next to the front door, easy to pick up. There are a great number of familiar menu items from the more Americanized side with Crab Rangoon, to various kinds of Pho and seafood soups. Perhaps the defining feature for this little jewel is the blender. They offer a long list of blended freezes with fresh fruits, teas, and even black tapioca balls. I love it here. It's such a cute building and everything I've ever had here is amazing! I've had the chicken satay, steamed dumplings (app), pad see lew (I know some places it's eew), lad nar, everything is great. They're very friendly and enjoy your business! I also highly recommend getting a fruit cup or a "freeze". It's literally ice and the fruit of your choice...AMAZING! So it's actually a really great place to eat if you want to watch your diet..or not! They also have flavors like avocado and coconut. I love it here.
