I've brought my son here a few times. He's not the easiest kid to handle, but this place has successfully calmed and assured him every time in order to give him a haircut. Granted not every haircut comes out the same (even though technically they're supposed to be the same), but it's a kids haircut, so that's not a big deal. Between the TVs, age-appropriate chairs, play area, etc., kids definitely seem comfortable here. Definitely make an appointment, though, as it does get crowded on weekends. read more

This place is soooo cute! perfect for the kids. I hesitated on the $19 for a kids hair cut. but it was well worth it. I took my 3yr old to get her first hair cut, and they did great. she has curly hair and a strip of streight hair. weird! but they did great on making it even, Then we took our 5 yr old who wanted to keep her long hair just like rapunzel, and they did a great job making her feel confterable on cutting her hair. no major change was noticed,but they got the old hair out. I take my son to see Karen, but a few times he has also gone to Andrea. Both ladies are AWESOME, and will do exactly what you ask for with your child's hair. THey have a great little play area in the back, to occupy the kids while waiting (and sometimes the kids dont want to leave!), and your child gets a balloon after the hair cut (a MAJOR plus for my balloon-obsessed 3yr old). There is also free parking (2 hours) in the back lot. Definitely a great place to take the kids for a hair cut, and not too pricey, either. Note: they also do adult hair cuts! YAY! read more

I can't say enough of how much I appreciate the care that was given to my little boy on his first haircut. At only 7 months old, Anna Marie did a fantastic job keeping him entertained and calm. He actually liked getting his hair cut. I loved how she talked to him and explained what she was doing and how she was going to cut his hair. We both know he didn't understand a word she said but I think it was more for the nervous parent hovering around, taking pictures, and telling her how I wanted his haircut which made me feel comfortable. Getting your babies first hair cut is a big deal to a mom! Your staff is polite and courteous and your prices are are well priced for the care and patience you provide. Have gone back more than a few times to get my sons haircut since it grows like a weed! And all times have been pleasant and the staff being professional and accommodating when they can. I've been late a few times and if it's not busy they will assist you. However, if they are busy and have a full schedule they will have you reschedule to be fair to the parent who has the next appointment, which is a plus especially if that child is a little on the cranky side. As I read the negative comments especially about those who are complaining about being late. I can't help but think that if my son was getting close to his nap time or hungry or tired or something else bothering him, I wouldn't want to wait any longer than I had too because of someone who can't make it to their appointment on time being accommodated and than make a scene in front of my child if they are not, which has happened before. I also would not want the hairdresser who would be cutting my son's hair be in a hurry because they didn't have much time because you were late and you cut into my time. My son loves to come here because of their toy area. I always bring him in 15 minutes before his appointment so that he can beeline for the back and play. Then they call his name and he sits on his chosen animal or rocket ship and watches movies while he sits perfectly still. It's such an enjoyable experience for him, I don't mind that I have to indulge his senses with toys, videos, and the obligatory 25 cent lollipop at the end. We have used Jennifer multiple times, but any stylist will be fine. Bring cash! read more

Came here with my daughter for her first haircut. My friend brought her daughter as well. Wanted to make a trip out of it. We didn't know what to expect since it was our first experience. It was wonderful. The girls had a wonderful experience...they're stylist, ana, was accommodating and super nice...they each got a certificate with their hair, a comb and a lollipop. We just had our son's first haircut here yesterday. I was looking forward to going here until I read the reviews but since we had a gift certificate we gave it a try anyhow. Fortunately, we did not experience any of what is talked about in the bad reviews. Our son loved playing in the toy area with the trains before his haircut. When it was his time for the cut he was hesitant but Sandra, our hairdresser, was so sweet and put him at ease. She did a really great job. The girls at the front desk were sweet as well and made sure they put a clip of my son's hair in a little baggy to take home. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is it is a little pricey for how quickly you are in and out of there and how little there is to cut at this stage. However, for how little we get his hair cut we would most likely go back. read more

Took my daughter here for a quick trim since her hair was getting so long and brushing it out had gotten so difficult because of all the tangles. I got referred here from another mom so I figured I would give it a try. 1 star for the cleanliness of the place. I'm pretty fickle about cleanliness but this place was well organized with plenty of toys for my daughter to play with while we waited. 2 stars for the amazing service and how nice the ladies were. There was a girl training at the front desk and the girls seemed very helpful to her. Most places I go to, a new employee usually gets treated with annoyance, but not here. The manager was really helpful and the lady that cut my daughter's hair was very nice. But where it fell short for me was the actual hair cut. I asked for just a trim and to even out my daughter's hair that had grown out from her asymmetrical bob she got last year. The lady pretty much sectioned her hair off in 3 sections; one in the back and 2 in the front. My daughter was having a hard time keeping still and I can understand that it would be tricky to get a perfect line with how much she moved, but she pretty much cut the back in a couple swoops and the front the same way. The cut lasted no more than 3 minutes. When she finished she asked how it looked and since it was a bit wavy, it looked fine. When I got home, I took a closer look and it was so off! There were many places where there were strands of hair longer than other parts and, I have to say, I was not happy. I thought it was odd that the cut was so completed so fast but I figured with how much my little one was moving she was trying to be quick. I really wanted to like this place as the ladies who worked there were very nice, but the quality of my child's haircut makes me want to reconsider coming back for a future visit. read more

I've been taking my girls there for their haircuts since they were toddlers. They will not go anywhere else for haircuts because they like to ride on the cute animal chairs and play with the toys. I don't usually pick a specific hairstylist so we have tried a few different hairstyles. They are nice and did good jobs. My girls have straight one-length hair so all they had to do was to cut a few inches short and get it straight. It took about 5-10 minutes each kid. $18 per haircut, in my opinion is pretty expensive. The appointment staff are not very enthusiastic but they were not rude. The hair accessories and toys are really overpriced. They suggested this wet brush to get the tangles out. They charge $15 for them and I found them on Amazon for $5. I checked other websites and the prices were under $10. I am ok overall but I am searching for a cheaper place though. read more

So my kid needed a hair cut stat! We're not from the area but frequent Pasadena to visit family. I made a last minute appt and was able to get in for the afternoon. I prefaced the appointment by stating my son has autism. I'm not sure how he will react. Elieza (sp? Sorry!) was great with my son. She understood the unpredictability of his reaction and his sensory sensitivity. We haven't been successful with the buzzing so he's had scissor cuts for a few years now. But I wanted to try clippers for a clean summer cut. He has thick, curly, coarse hair. And what do you know... He's fine with the clippers! She made him feel comfortable and relaxed. Not all kids with autism are the same, some will be fine with clippers and some will never be. Maybe the next time my son will hate the clippers and the buzzing, I'm not sure. But what I do know is that they welcomed him without a flinch even though I said it might be a wrestling match! BUT... I think the time allotment is short. I understand that for a "specialty" cut I would have to pay more and that I don't agree with. Perhaps it would take longer to cut my son's hair because he might have issues that day. And what if his cut is not right in 15 mins? Not sure what would happen. But as a whole, we had a good time. Thank you guys for a sweet experience. read more

We used to go to Kids Kuts in Pasadena. When it closed a few years ago, we followed Tina over to Little Kuts and have always been pleased with her and, when she was on maternity leave, had haircuts by Jessica. Very pleased with her as well. Both my boys have always gotten great cuts and my daughter's hair always looks so cute. On our last visit, we had an "emergency" - after my daughter CHOPPED off her hair, full on mullet style. Little Kuts squeezed us in that day for my "emergency" and Jessica made her hair look just awesome! We get SO many compliments - very short, but very feminine in her little wedge cut. I see some of the reviews panning the service and though they don't exude fake happiness like they could, I have never had an issue. I have been taking my boys here since they were 2 or 3 and I had to hold them in my lap. They are 10 and 12 now and no longer need the hand-holding. It is always crowded in here so not only do you need an appt, you better not be late or they will skip you altogether. We had dalliances with cheaper places, but we always came back to Little Kuts. I bought the Yelp deal recently and get him a new haircut just before Christmas; the place was crowded and the stylist was working with another little boy when we arrived, I was not sure what to do with my son's curly hair, so the stylish suggested the little boy cut. The hairdresser works pretty fast & gets the job done. Not super refined but acceptable. My preschool aged daughter has a ton of hair & doesn't sit super still but the hairdresser has toys & various things to try to get her attention. The toy area also has a bunch of toys that my daughter enjoyed while we waited (& in fact didn't want to leave!) She's quite experienced & cuts decisively; there is a slight 'conveyor belt' feel since there were other wall-ins waiting so she's eager to just cut & move onto the next one. She does ask you for feedback but won't have room/time to fix every little thing if you're picky. So overall, I think it's fine for us, but if you're particular or picky & want lots of personal attention & extra time this may not be the place for you. read more

Took my son to a cheaper hair salon, but the lady cut his ears that my son developed a fear of haircuts. Returned back here and well, I don't regret a thing! Horrible customer service. Discriminating policies. Unfair treatment of customers. We were 5 mins late for a haircut appointment for my little boy and they turned us town, even though I was with two toddlers running all my way to make for the appointment. No cut lasts less then 5 mins, but they were really rude and not trying to accommodate in any way. Several months later, I call them again to book for a haircut, thinking I might give it another chance. They make the appointment for me, then call me back 5 mins later to notify that because I was late last time, I cannot book with them any more. Really? This is kids salon. So they, confirmed because we were late for 5 mins last time, we couldn't book with them any more. Best we could do was walk in and wait.... And these salon specialises in kids and families with kids and moms who run 24 hours non stop to make things happen. read more

We have been taking our 3 1/2 year old son here since his first hair cut - when he was 2. Sandra does a great job each time. In fact, he ONLY wants Sandra to cut his hair. Although he still gets a little nervous, he feels comfortable there and loves the little play area - especially the Thomas trains. I've taken my 2 year old twice to Little Kuts. He seems to be able to sit on my lap just long enough to get his hair cut. He loves the toys that are there. It's a huge distraction for him, also watching the movie that is playing helps. I have a 9 month old I am taking this week for his first hair cut. I dont have an appt yet. But last time, I didnt have a problem making a same day appt. I know it will go smooth. I tried to take the 2 year to a regular place to get his hair cut before I found Little Kuts. I took my daughter to her 1st haircut here (over 2 years ago) and even though her hair is thick, curly, and nappy--it turned out great! They didn't even mind me taking pictures and after they were done, they gave her a certificate and balloon with some clippings of her hair. I just recently took my daughter again and met a new hairdresser named Mikki. She did a FANTASTIC job with my daughter's hair and gave me some great tips as to deal with such difficult hair. She told me that since her hair is so thick and curly (and prone to tangles) that I should invest in a good thick comb and use Infusium Leave in for her tangles. The cut took no more than 10-15 minutes and my picky daughter loved it! read more

My kids - daughter 6 1/2 and son 4 - and I love this place. It is clean, friendly, and professionally staffed. The kids get to play in a magical undersea play area filled with toys and trains and castles.... When it is time for their haircut, they get to climb aboard a rocketship or horsie, or dolphin and watch a movie while getting a wonderful hair cut for less than $20. The staff are great at making the children feel comfortable and every visit ends with a smile and a balloon. Love this place! I've taken my 4 yr old daughter here several time before. But it was a first for my 9 yr old son recently. He was looking for someone that was a bit trendier and knew what he wanted. I wasn't willing to pay $40 for his haircut so thought of little kuts. For $18 he got the trendy cut he wanted!!! Jennifer was awesome. She treated me like the big kid he is. He was hesitant at first when I told him where we were going but once he saw that they had big kid chairs he was at ease. I usually pay $10 for his haircut at a local barber shop but recently experienced a lot of crying from my toddler so I decided to try something more kid friendly. My nephew has had his haircut three times now with Anna and it has been nothing but amazing! He has a bit of a sensory issue and has always hated getting his hair cut, he would scream and cry a and squirm all over. Anna has always been super patient with him and us as we try to calm him down and distract him. He hates the cape so it has never been forced, she would always ask if he wants one and would get a no reply and then moves on, I loved that she always tells Reece what she is going to do before doing it. She never rushed the haircut because people were waiting and has gone at his pace. Today was the third haircut and it was amazing, he picked what chair he wanted, agreed to the cape and sat by himself for the first time and didn't scream!!! He still wiggled a bit and didn't love the scissors near his ear but allowed it to happen. She was so good explaining to him what was happening and let him hold his own comb and comb his hair while she cut around him which I feel was super helpful. Getting his haircut in the past was always a stressful moment for his mom and I and they have just been amazing. We will definitely be returning to Little Kuts with Anna! I loooooove bringing my daughter here. Today just reminded me why I continue to bring my daughter to Anna Marie. Let me tell you, there isn't a whole lot of people that not only have patience with kids but can also do a great job with kids hair. At the beginning of the Pandemic unfortunately a lot of places closed. I was recommended to someone else who cuts hair and they do kids hair. I was devastated on how a horrible job she did on my daughters beautiful hair. I even felt her hair didn't appreciate the hair cut LOL!!! I noticed my daughters hair wasn't really growing and it was so choppy. I decided to take a shot at calling Anna Marie just to see if she was maybe doing cuts out of her home, as most hairdressers had shifted to that as an option. And thankfully she was...I was stoked that I was able to go back to Anna Marie. My daughter is 7 and I believe I've been going to her since she was 4 years old.
